He's so perpetually DUMPY.

For breakfast EVERYDAY he eats two Sausage Egg McMuffins with two orders of Hash Browns.

by Anonymousreply 1February 9, 2025 4:31 PM

JD Vance sure showed ‘em

by Anonymousreply 2February 9, 2025 4:32 PM

I’m just an autistic, gay vegan sitting here while I eat a delectable bowl of tofu scramble, wondering why more people don’t give tofu a chance with the way egg prices are going.

Maybe if Trump and Vance ate more plant-based foods, they would be more pleasant as people and “politicians.”

by Anonymousreply 3February 9, 2025 4:37 PM

I paid $4.79 at Kroger (Michigan) for a dozen jumbo eggs.

by Anonymousreply 4February 9, 2025 4:38 PM

Eggs are actually normal prices where I live. I’ve always said that i never saw the food inflation that others witnessed, I don’t know why

by Anonymousreply 5February 9, 2025 4:38 PM

A dozen eggs have risen from $3.50 to $8.00 since Trump took office where I am.

by Anonymousreply 6February 9, 2025 4:39 PM

R5 - where do you live?

Our egg prices went 'down' - $7.99 for 12 white eggs. Organics and brown eggs are still close to $10.

I still think it's price gouging - only 5% of the chicken laying population has been culled for bird flu. It's bullshit. 5% reduction does not raise prices 100-125%.

by Anonymousreply 7February 9, 2025 4:53 PM

The gross factory farmed store brand ones were 5.99 yesterday. I almost bought some because the shelves have been bare the last 10 days.

by Anonymousreply 8February 9, 2025 4:56 PM

It is not about the eggs or lack of eggs, it's about your bullshit.

Your grift is bullshit and has diminished American democracy.

President Biden was removed from the ticket for being old and detached from everyday issues.

President Biden's age and the cost of groceries were endlessly discussed during his time in office. President Biden's successor is the oldest fuck ever installed into the White House. President Biden's gone, yet groceries are more expensive than ever and we have shortages but there is no "discussion " about grocery prices or egg shortages, nor discussion about the age of his successor.

You know this happened back in September, right?

by Anonymousreply 13February 9, 2025 8:10 PM

Yes, but now it is clear that it was all claptrap - the Turmp administration doesn’t give a fuck about the prices of eggs, gas or anything in the US, just defrauding the electorate

by Anonymousreply 14February 9, 2025 8:30 PM

Oh, okay, I get it.

by Anonymousreply 15February 9, 2025 8:41 PM

R12, you don’t need to be so fucking rude. Grow up!

Mind you, I’m 30, 5’5, and weigh 145-150 lbs. I was salutatorian of my high school class, earned two associate degrees, and am now going for a bachelor’s degree. I scored a 4.07 GPA last fall. I’m in better shape than a lot of people my age. Plus, I have always had a mild sensitivity for eggs (even as a kid). Maybe don’t judge next time!

by Anonymousreply 16February 10, 2025 12:09 AM

Just basic eggs are about $9 - $12 at my supermarket the last 3 weeks. The pasture raised ones are about $16.

Can we blame Trump for the inflated prices then? Or does he only take blame for the things he sees as positive?

by Anonymousreply 17February 10, 2025 1:47 AM

I'm glad I grew up in a time before fat, makeup wearing sociopaths, who have never even pumped their own gas. Are considered alpha males.

by Anonymousreply 20February 10, 2025 5:18 AM

The last 2 times I've been to Trader Joe's and the last time I was at Whole Foods, there have been no eggs in stock at all. I'm in San Francisco.

by Anonymousreply 25February 14, 2025 1:18 AM

I bought Happy Eggs, large, organic browns, from Publix today. $7.19. And actually it was a good price for them. They're usually much more expensive.

by Anonymousreply 26February 14, 2025 1:19 AM

by Anonymousreply 27February 14, 2025 1:23 AM

Shockingly - I bought 12 organic brown eggs at Trader Joe's in SoCal for 4.99 today. Everywhere else, including Aldi, it's $8.99.

Not sure what TJ is doing to get around this - but good on them.

by Anonymousreply 37February 20, 2025 2:14 AM

Trader Joe's is out every time I'm there lately. Probably because I go in the late afternoon. They aren't gouging and are restricting people to one dozen eggs a day. Target had some eggs, but only organic, free-range at $8.99/dozen. This was yesterday at Trader Joe's on 4th St in downtown San Francisco and the Target at the Metrion.

Eggs cost about 4,50 usd a dozen here in Norway.

by Anonymousreply 44February 20, 2025 9:42 AM

R42 Eggs are traditionally a breakfast food in the States. They are also used a lot in baking. I personally enjoy omelets and will occasionally have one for dinner. They are actually very healthy and an excellent source of protein. According to Statistica, Americans do eat more eggs on average then Europeans, but not hugely so. Americans consume about 5.4 eggs per week and Europeans consume about 4.6 eggs per week. Americans eat an extra 0.8 on an egg each week.

"In 2023, Americans ate an estimated 281.3 eggs per person, while Europeans ate about 240 eggs per person."

by Anonymousreply 45February 20, 2025 9:42 AM

Egg him on

by Anonymousreply 46February 20, 2025 10:48 AM

R45 Here in Norway there's been a huge uptick in people buying eggs. Everything has increased by a lot, we're talking a 30 % increase on groceries in like two or three years. It's really bad. Groceries here were expensive enough before the price hike. They think this is why they sell more eggs now, it's farily cheap protein. It's healthy for you. That's why we've had an egg shortage here. It's getting better now though. It's not even because of bird flu. People just eat a lot more eggs now, so they couldn't produce enough for the demand. That's also why egg prices have increased, though it's not that bad. You can still get a dozen eggs here for like 50 kr (4,50 us dollars).

by Anonymousreply 47February 20, 2025 10:53 AM

18 medium sized eggs for 57 kr (5 us dollars).

And Musk is hell bent on tanking the economy, so it’s going to get worse.

Eggs at Ralphs (Kroger) in Southern California were going for $8.19 yesterday. That was for a dozen Extra Large. The funny thing is that the Large there were priced even higher at $11.89. It was just the reverse at Vons a few days ago: $6.99 for a dozen Large and $11.49 for Extra Large. A couple weeks ago, Vons didn't even have Extra Large and the Large were going for $11.99.

by Anonymousreply 79February 22, 2025 3:54 PM

R77 - there were 384 million egg-laying hens in the US in Dec 2023. They've culled 20 million due to bird flu. That's 5.2%. That's not enough to change supply and costs like this. Nobody is reporting the # of culled hens as a proportion of the total. Canada also has bird flu and doesn't have this problem.

California is not a major egg-producing state - only having 3+% of all egg-laying hens in the US.

They're fucking with the prices because of greed. End of story. 5% reduction does not create double or triple the pricing.

by Anonymousreply 80February 22, 2025 4:05 PM

[quote]Eggs at Ralphs (Kroger) in Southern California were going for $8.19 yesterday.

Decades ago, my wealthy aunt owned 100 triple deckers. She had her own construction company rehab the apartments when people moved out. She said the worst was a Vietnamese family-

They had ripped off all the kitchen cabinet doors and, replaced them with chicken wire, and were raising egg laying chickens in them.

If egg prices keep going up, I’m thinking of doing the same thing!

by Anonymousreply 108February 27, 2025 9:54 AM

Keeping some chickens for eggs. You'll have to spend money on food. And let me tell you they're quite messy. We had a little coop of three when I was a kid. The fewer you have the more they become like pets. And at some point they stop laying eggs. Then, what do you do with the little critters?

[quote] Apparently, their plan is to import tariff-free eggs from Canada.

Even if there was no tariff, wouldn't shipping costs attached to eggs being imported be pretty high? I suppose Canada could supply border states, but I always thought that's why most eggs that show up in supermarkets are produced locally. Here in Southern California most of our eggs come from the more rural areas of San Bernardino and Riverside counties. There's another community in Ventura County around Fillmore that people call "Egg City." There are so many egg laying farms that you can smell the chicken shit from the highway.

by Anonymousreply 132March 10, 2025 12:05 PM

Will never be 4 a doz. again and they should never have been that cheap.

by Anonymousreply 133March 10, 2025 2:29 PM

[quote] and they should never have been that cheap

Why is that, R133? You like higher prices?

by Anonymousreply 134March 10, 2025 2:45 PM

no more eggs for me.

by Anonymousreply 135March 10, 2025 5:39 PM

[quote] Eggs will be $4 a dozen!!!

Where and when OP, that sounds like quite a bargain.

by Anonymousreply 136March 13, 2025 12:27 AM

6.89 in flyoverstan now

by Anonymousreply 137March 13, 2025 12:35 AM

Remids me--I'm having eggs for breakfast tomorrow, with grated cheese. Yum.

by Anonymousreply 138March 13, 2025 1:52 AM

Not where I live

by Anonymousreply 139March 13, 2025 2:53 AM

Let them eat…basically anything other than eggs?

by Anonymousreply 140March 13, 2025 2:57 AM

I'm at the point where I will join a boycott of eggs just for the principal of it. I like eggs, but there are plenty of other options for protein and breakfast. I don't for a minute believe this is totally due to avian flu. It is price gouging and I would love to see that industry brought to its knees. If everyone just decided to go for other options and let eggs rot on the shelves it would teach these industries a lesson.

by Anonymousreply 141March 13, 2025 4:41 AM

Boycott eggs, why, R141? To spite who?

by Anonymousreply 142March 13, 2025 4:43 AM

[quote] for the principal of it

Oh dear, R141.

by Anonymousreply 143March 13, 2025 4:45 AM

Utopihen organic pasture raised

There's no such thing, another lie you believe, did they tell you that when they're pasture raised, they clip off the beaks so they can't peck each other's eyes out? There's your pasture raised eggs. They still do it.

by Anonymousreply 144March 13, 2025 5:07 PM

Grade A extra large (not organic/pasture raised) at Harris Teeter in NC today were $8.99 for 18 eggs.

by Anonymousreply 145March 13, 2025 10:45 PM

Maybe just sell individual ostrich eggs and we could parse them out by 1/4 cups-freeze and use as needed?

by Anonymousreply 146March 13, 2025 11:45 PM

Duck eggs are cheaper at the Asian market today

by Anonymousreply 147March 14, 2025 2:20 AM

Have you tried eating something other than eggs? They have a lot of other foods besides eggs nowadays. Hope this helps 🥰

by Anonymousreply 148March 14, 2025 6:50 PM

I paid $7.99 for one dozen large brown organic free range from Pete and Jerry. The Vital Farms ones were $14. Publix in GA

by Anonymousreply 149March 14, 2025 9:11 PM

I saw $6.99 at the acme

by Anonymousreply 150March 15, 2025 12:51 AM

Wasn’t going to buy eggs this month but now I want to make cookies. A dozen will last me quite a while but they were 9.99 Target-Berkeley.

by Anonymousreply 151March 15, 2025 5:19 AM

$5.19 at Kroger.

I feel like we're all hostages to these two insane monsters and their gang of t hugs and these other countries will end up saving us albeit somewhat unintentionally, because they are all going after him now. Hitting us in every way. So many people cancelling anything American including trips, products, etc. and the countries themselves cancelling contracts for weapons, transport, etc. Make things so impossible that Trump, Elon and Stephen Miller Trump's architect are run out of town. Because a lot of Trump's grandiosity is fed by Miller who is doing the "strategy" on all his so called "policy " positions.

[quote] Make things so impossible that Trump, Elon and Stephen Miller Trump's architect are run out of town.

The U.S. does not have a parliamentary system. There is no vote of confidence to topple a prime minister. Trump and the Republicans will remain in power until at least January, 2029.

There’s a lot of comments that seem to indicate that there are people who don’t understand that.

by Anonymousreply 157March 15, 2025 2:49 PM

I caved in and bought some eggs today. It wasn't too expensive...$6 for a dozen

by Anonymousreply 158March 16, 2025 12:51 AM

Cheaper than where I live

by Anonymousreply 159March 16, 2025 1:08 AM

I'm seeing more of them now...

by Anonymousreply 160March 21, 2025 11:12 PM

more of what?

by Anonymousreply 161March 22, 2025 1:28 AM

Will he be laying them? Any guaranteed double-yokes??”

by Anonymousreply 162March 22, 2025 3:40 AM

Things got so bad at one point my favorite rent boys demanded payment in eggs in lieu of Bitcoin.

by Anonymousreply 163March 22, 2025 3:52 AM

Local store is 4.79 for their jumbo size, Egglands is 4.99 for 12, higher than normal but not bad.

by Anonymousreply 164March 22, 2025 10:16 PM

R162, I just realized something. I eat a lot of eggs. Maybe 8-ten eggs a week. And for the past 4-5 years I don't recall a time when I ever got a double yolk. I remember when I was a kid we used to always get excited if we got one. But it's been a while.

by Anonymousreply 165March 22, 2025 11:59 PM

These egg complainers are the same screaming cows that pay $10 for 6 buffalo wings when they go to stuff their faces at the trashiest wing place the can find with the whole family in tow.

by Anonymousreply 166March 23, 2025 12:05 AM

A week ago, I was in the Whole Foods in NYC, and the egg section looked lke zombies raided it- broken eggs littered on barren shelves- they were selling for $6. I'm in L.A. now, and my grocery delivery Imperfect Produce has them for $5 and $6.

by Anonymousreply 167March 23, 2025 12:21 AM

The egg and I

by Anonymousreply 168March 23, 2025 11:52 AM

$8.69.

I miss eating eggs. Not that I ate that many but I miss them.

by Anonymousreply 169March 23, 2025 12:13 PM

i agree

by Anonymousreply 170March 23, 2025 12:22 PM

R16 No one is impressed, I'm 5'7" and 144 just today, you must be a little round butterball.

by Anonymousreply 171March 24, 2025 3:44 AM

$4.00 doesn't sound outrageous to me for a dozen eggs. Get back to me when they're a dollar per egg.

by Anonymousreply 172March 24, 2025 4:04 AM

They are pretty close to that now

by Anonymousreply 173March 24, 2025 11:53 AM

by Anonymousreply 180March 26, 2025 6:30 AM

And china will benefit

by Anonymousreply 181March 26, 2025 12:49 PM

i went to traders joe for my elderly neighbor, he eats 3 eggs a day but doesn't go to supermarket that often...he usually buys a few dozen eggs at a time and putting limits of how many you can buy is really hurting him

by Anonymousreply 182March 26, 2025 3:45 PM

My store is running a promo trying to get people to opt for buying a half dozen carton instead of a full dozen. Basically with six you get eggroll.

by Anonymousreply 183March 26, 2025 6:25 PM

They're about $7 a dozen here in LA /South Bay.

by Anonymousreply 184March 26, 2025 6:46 PM

You know, if they put a limit on how many you buy, then just go to another store and buy as many as you need.

by Anonymousreply 185March 28, 2025 3:34 AM

Dunno but I live in NYC and eggs have always been at this price point. My local market has piles of eggs. It's a big chain too.

by Anonymousreply 190April 11, 2025 12:54 AM

Last week I went to a large Asian market (HMart) in Portland and they were selling a dozen eggs for $17. I couldn't believe it

by Anonymousreply 191April 11, 2025 1:03 AM

[quote] Last week I went to a large Asian market (HMart) in Portland and they were selling a dozen eggs for $17.

Shipping eggs from Asia increases the price.

by Anonymousreply 192April 11, 2025 1:06 AM

Fuck that

by Anonymousreply 193April 11, 2025 1:33 AM

Eggs here cost 5 dollars a dozen. Not too bad though it's not cheap either.

by Anonymousreply 194April 12, 2025 6:43 AM

Just be prepared. While egg prices will come down a somewhat, they are going to stay at around $5 a dozen for just plain eggs. If you want organic free range, happy chicken eggs be prepared to spend at least $9 a dozen. That will be the new normal. And we will adapt. Trump is fucking over the farmers, and the economy is now very unstable and we will be grateful to be able to afford food and shelter.

by Anonymousreply 195April 12, 2025 3:14 PM

The egg shortage and prices has to do with the a president's but instead with managing the H5N1 bird flu virus. From what I understand Trump administration was sponsoring the import of eggs from Canada, Netherlands and Lithuania to the US. With his tariff bullshit they may not even want to see to the US now.

by Anonymousreply 196April 12, 2025 6:32 PM

R196, you seem vaguely to be making a cogent point. Could you retype without all the errors?

by Anonymousreply 197April 12, 2025 7:01 PM

Typing with thumbs has it's disadvantages.

The egg shortage and the current prices has little to do with the president's policies, but instead with managing the H5N1 bird flu virus. From what I understand the Trump administration was sponsoring the import of eggs from Canada, Netherlands and Lithuania to the US. With his tariff bullshit they may not even want to sell to the US now.

by Anonymousreply 198April 12, 2025 7:29 PM

R198 - I don't agree. About 20 million chickens were killed last quarter of 2024 for bird flu - when the prices went through the roof. There are 375 million egg-laying chickens in the US.

That's a little over 5% of the chickens. Now they will say over 53 million BIRDS (not just chickens) have died of bird flu - but again that's all birds.

Most hens begin producing eggs about 18 weeks after birth. So we should have had plenty of time to catch up to whatever shortage.

Also - Canada is also dealing with bird flu and they have NOT had the same massive price increases. It's a scam.

by Anonymousreply 199April 12, 2025 7:40 PM

How the damned Bird flu is managed has everything to do with the President's policies, including his decisions about our relationships with other countries and all the Public Health officials and scientists etc. he is getting rid of.

by Anonymousreply 200April 12, 2025 8:08 PM

I remember buying eggs for as low as 49 cents on sale right before covid in flyoverstan.

by Anonymousreply 201April 13, 2025 5:52 AM

A dozen eggs for 5 dollars here. It's not too bad. I'm not American though.

by Anonymousreply 202April 13, 2025 6:04 AM

what are you?

by Anonymousreply 203April 13, 2025 12:39 PM

by Anonymousreply 204April 13, 2025 12:41 PM

me neither

by Anonymousreply 205April 13, 2025 1:18 PM

I eat eggs every day. I have to force myself to think of other things to eat for breakfast.

by Anonymousreply 206April 13, 2025 6:08 PM

I have to force myself to eat

by Anonymousreply 207April 13, 2025 8:50 PM

I quit eating.

by Anonymousreply 208April 13, 2025 8:58 PM

I may start doing protein smoothies for at least one meal a day. Or I may look into those drinks like Ensure? I think limiting myself to one big meal a day along with a snack, will help me lose weight, and save some money on groceries.

by Anonymousreply 209April 13, 2025 11:06 PM

Maybe rich white people who only eat egg whites could donate the yolks to poor people.

by Anonymousreply 210April 14, 2025 12:35 AM

I'll still buy them, I like eggs.

by Anonymousreply 211April 14, 2025 12:47 AM

R210 I always find it annoying when people discard the yolk. It's the tastiest part of the egg. If eggs were yokeless, I wouldn't eat them at all.
