The White Lotus

Think we’ll get a Patrick Schwarzenegger sex scene?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 8, 2025 2:03 AM |
Hopefully he’ll get his ass eaten a la Lukas Gage.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 8, 2025 2:05 AM |
R1, Patrick had a brief sex scene in a movie a few years ago that showed a few frames of his naked ass, but hopefully we will get something better:
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 8, 2025 7:05 AM |
Patrick says in this interview that the show will be 'spicy':
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 9, 2025 7:10 AM |
I want to see Lukas eat Patrick's ass!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 9, 2025 7:46 AM |
Sounds like Patrick will have some nude scenes:
[quote]Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, revealed that he's hesitant to watch the nude scenes with his family . "There are some uncomfortable conversations between us in the bed that are a little weird to show in front of your family," said Schwarzenegger. "Episodes 5 and 6, there will be some times that I take some bathroom breaks from the family, or maybe I won't watch that episode."
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 11, 2025 6:54 AM |
I think Mike White also has a "gay is evil" kink. He's pretty much admitted it in interviews, but very delicate and tip-toe-y in how he talks about it.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 11, 2025 10:51 AM |
No Theo James this season?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 15, 2025 8:57 PM |
Why would he come back? His character’s story is done. Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) is the only character in S3 that was in a previous season (S1).
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 15, 2025 9:33 PM |
I've never watched The White Lotus.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 15, 2025 9:36 PM |
Should I binge watch the first two seasons in order to understand the third?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 15, 2025 9:59 PM |
You don’t have to r12 but it would be fun! ….. “These Gays are trying to KILL me!!”
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 15, 2025 10:05 PM |
There have been few good-looking men in the first two seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 15, 2025 10:10 PM |
R14, HBO is reruning Season 1 to prepare for tomorrow, and I disagree.
Steve Zahn's cleaned up daddy vibes does it for me.
As does Murray Bartlett with his natural Australian accent.
The character Shane might do it for some, but not for me....
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 15, 2025 11:19 PM |
I look forward to the escapism & the opportunity to judge rich people!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 15, 2025 11:27 PM |
Are there gays behaving badly again? I'm torn between renewing HBO or not. But White Lotus, Hacks this spring... there's a stream coming but it's all a question of timing and money. However, if there's gays and the semi-annual specific gay sex act du series, I'm in.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 16, 2025 12:11 PM |
So today is Feb 16 and I thought the first episode of Season 3 is supposed to be out but I can’t find it
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 16, 2025 8:49 PM |
[quote] I think Mike White also has a "gay is evil" kink. He's pretty much admitted it in interviews, but very delicate and tip-toe-y in how he talks about it.
I just read an interview with him in the most recent New Yorker and, learning about his upbringing, his evangelical father who came out late in life, explains a lot of things.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 16, 2025 9:01 PM |
It's airing at 9 pm EST, Ms. McQuoid.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 16, 2025 9:02 PM |
Somebody said in another thread that apparently Patrick Schwarzenegger shows his ass and a partial view of his cock in the first episode. Apparently there’s going to be a closer view of his ass in the second episode.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 16, 2025 9:06 PM |
[quote] I just read an interview with him in the most recent New Yorker and, learning about his upbringing, his evangelical father who came out late in life, explains a lot of things.
So they're both gay?
They were on the Amazing Race together.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 16, 2025 9:06 PM |
Will we see everything that Maria Shriver saw 30 years ago?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 16, 2025 9:32 PM |
In R6's pic, Patrick is starting to develop a body like his dad, and not in an attractive way. I liked him skinnier.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 16, 2025 9:35 PM |
My big question - Spoilers - ok Belinda is back from Deason one. The end of season 2 was a big deal about Greg and Tanya’s prenup. After Tanya’s Natalie Wood moment …… she is gone. She “took care” of MOST of “The Gays.” Portia her assistant hightailed it back to LA incognito. THE QUESTION: Will husband Greg return at some point as a vey rich widower?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 16, 2025 11:28 PM |
Note to self: Never go to a White Lotus resort because there's always somebody getting fucking murdered.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 17, 2025 1:16 AM |
Parker Posey’s accent is shit. Worse than the worst of Steel Magnolias.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 17, 2025 1:18 AM |
^^which is funny because she grew up in Louisiana and Mississippi. You'd think she'd know how to do a Southern accent.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 17, 2025 1:23 AM |
Patrick Schwarzenegger is impossibly good looking. He somehow managed to get the best attributes of both his parents.
Carrie Coon and Leslie Bibb are as great as I hoped, but Parker Posey’s accent is laughably bad.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 17, 2025 1:29 AM |
Carrie Coon annoys me. I don't like her face. There, I said it.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 17, 2025 1:34 AM |
Even Jason Isaacs has a shit accent.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 17, 2025 1:48 AM |
Parker Posey is ruining this for me...
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 17, 2025 1:52 AM |
Yikes, the woman in the red dress is too thin. I would physically hate to bump into her and be jabbed by a sharp bone.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 17, 2025 1:54 AM |
I would love to have a canopy bed with curtains on the side. I should do it.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 17, 2025 1:58 AM |
Parker needs to pork her
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 17, 2025 2:07 AM |
Is it just me or do you think there’s going to be some sort of gay/incestual relationship between Saxon and Lochlan. Saxon was the one who suggested they bunk together and his nude mirror scene was very Theo James esque in terms of intentions.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 17, 2025 2:09 AM |
The sibling dynamics are all weird. Saxon says his sister is hot and then the whole jerking off thing.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 17, 2025 2:11 AM |
BORING.
Kill them all. Let episode 2 be Moldavian Massacre and just kill them all.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 17, 2025 2:11 AM |
Walton Higgins’ girlfriend is butt ugly.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 17, 2025 2:12 AM |
WTF is wrong with Parker's character? It's like she's on drugs.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 17, 2025 2:14 AM |
This will be Parker Posey's Mommie Dearest.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 17, 2025 2:15 AM |
Are those buck teeth on the British chick real? They’re very distracting. Patrick Schwarzenegge4’s teeth, on the other hand, are beautiful. As is his ass.
Good god, Jason Isaacs and Walton Goggins are ACTING in every shot. And Parker Posey constantly looks and sounds like she wandered in from another show.
What’s with the subtitles for the Thai character ps in Thai calligraphy under the English subtitles? So pretentious.
This is a very bad start.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 17, 2025 2:17 AM |
I wish Patrick had a bit more chin.....
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 17, 2025 2:18 AM |
I miss Jennifer Coolidge. Without her it’s just a bunch of annoying rich people.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 17, 2025 2:18 AM |
R25, you were right!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 17, 2025 2:20 AM |
I'm only a tad high but I thought for a moment that Uncle Baby Bill and Tiffany from the Righteous Gemstones were in the White Lotus .
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 17, 2025 2:23 AM |
Another character from the first two seasons is there as well. I wonder if that character will cross paths with Belinda?
So far it is a little underwhelming but Mike White always nails the resort vacation vibe. The Parker Posey family is my least favorite at this point. The sibling dynamics are bizarre and don’t seem very realistic.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 17, 2025 2:33 AM |
Yeah I hope one of the Parker Posey family is the dead body in the pond.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 17, 2025 2:35 AM |
I'm calling it now: Jason Isaacs kills his entire family (Parker, Patrick and the other two) because his business is involved in some kind of a major scandal (the WSJ reporter's incessant phone calls) and he's going to be put on trial and go to jail if he returns to the US.
Who knows I might be wrong, but that's my feeling.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 17, 2025 2:37 AM |
Apparently there is a closeup shot of Patrick's ass in the second episode. The dynamic he has with the brother is some weird shit.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 17, 2025 2:39 AM |
I'm getting incesty vibes
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 17, 2025 2:47 AM |
I'm getting incestuous vibes between those sibs. I swear I thought the old, bald bf of the model was Tanya's husband from S1 and 2.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 17, 2025 2:51 AM |
Incest is best, put your brother to the test.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 17, 2025 2:56 AM |
The two brothers should just fuck in the first episode .
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 17, 2025 3:00 AM |
That's a lotta Belinda compared to Season 1. No Ozempic for that gal!
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 17, 2025 3:08 AM |
The buck toothed British slag reminded me of the vapid British tart Cecily Strong played a few times in SNL. Which was fine for a sketch but the one in this show has worn out her welcome in the very first episode. I’m surprised Mike White didn’t have her make a remark about the “nibbles” on the bar.
Carrie Coon is a great actress but way too short for her face and overall essence.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 17, 2025 3:23 AM |
Sam Nivola, who plays the youngest son of Parker Posey, really got a 50/50 genetic split from his parents, hot Alessandro Nivola and willowy Emily Mortimer. I can see so much of both of them in Sam.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 17, 2025 4:14 AM |
So happy to have this show back.
The beautiful settings, the despicable characters. Mike White knows how to create a vacation for the audience which as the world goes to hell god knows when need this perfect dose of escapism.
Parker Posey is clearly trying to give camp with her performance. With Jennifer Coolidge gone she seems to be the character brought in to deliver some camp vibes to the show.
There is definitely incest vibes with the siblings. But hey, Game of Thrones is HBOs biggest show and has incest so why wouldn't Mike White break that taboo by bringing it into this show. That's one way to grab people's attention I suppose.
Interested to see how the three friends develop. Right now we just see the obvious simmering resentment but it's definitely going to build somewhere.
Walter Higgins definitely came here to confront/kill the hotel managers husband. But seems to obvious to have him be the shooter in the finale.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 17, 2025 4:17 AM |
Seriously? Y'all know about Tarantino's foot fetish, but not White's incest thing? His very first movie "Chuck & Buck" was about it.)
Not sure if it'll be with his brother or sister, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of his ass as he pounds one of them from behind.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 17, 2025 4:22 AM |
Parker Posey is southern , she grew up in Louisiana and Mississippi. She knows how to do a southern accent and is doing a great one, you're just not used to hearing her talk in it. She did a similar one on The Staircase. Anyway that character is clearly drugged to the moon and back so it's gonna be a little wonky
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 17, 2025 4:23 AM |
I love watching shows and movies about white people being awful entitled cunts. It makes for great viewing, very entertaining. I'm serious.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 17, 2025 4:23 AM |
r59 wtf are you talking about, Chuck & Buck wasn't about incest. They were just close friends as kids who fooled around and reunite as adults only MW's character hasn't grown up or matured at all and still wants to fool around with his friend, while his friend just saw that as a phase.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 17, 2025 4:24 AM |
The younger brother is clearly attracted to the older brother. I don’t know what to make of the Patrick Schwarzenegger. I could see a storyline developing with him trying to take his sister’s virginity but part of me think he could be gay or bi. Why was he naked in the bed next to his younger brother?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 17, 2025 4:26 AM |
I haven't watched it yet. I enjoyed season two so much, I'm afraid I'll be disappointed. I'll give it a go and report back later with my opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 17, 2025 4:28 AM |
So that was Greg at the table? Hmmm...
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 17, 2025 4:28 AM |
Yes r65, the camera focused on him for a while to make sure we saw it was Greg. That was meant to be the big twist of the premiere, they hid he was coming back this season.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 17, 2025 4:30 AM |
r63 the older brother had clearly started that conversation about porn out thinking they'd circle jerk watching the same porn together and when younger brother was dazed and confused he moved to the bathroom. Very incesty vibes coming off all three of those kids.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 17, 2025 4:44 AM |
R67: Yeah the older brother was doing the seducing but the younger brother was afraid to make the first move.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 17, 2025 4:53 AM |
Yes, the older brother's slight pause after wondering aloud how he would jerk off while sharing a room with his brother was clearly an invitation for them to jerk off together. When the younger brother didn't take the bait, he moved to the bathroom.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 17, 2025 4:53 AM |
The older brother’s rant about women and pussy by the pool should’ve been a hint to his possibly being a closeted gay.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 17, 2025 4:58 AM |
I love/hate how mean-spirited the White Lotus is.
I immediately clock it was Greg, and lo and behold he’s the Tanya now - a pathetic White Lotus regular in a relationship with a pseudo-hooker who hates his guts. I hope he’s the first one to get shot.
The North Carolina kids seem to be gearing up for some crept incestuous love triangle, and Mike White is clearly delighting in humiliating Patrick Schwarzenegger‘s soi-disant alpha male oldest son - all that preening and chest-puffing just to scoffed at by the women he is trying to impress, all while being nakedly objectified by the gay-coded gaze of the camera. Oof.
Of the three girlfriends, Leslie Bibb seems the best cast as the nice-nasty beta. Carrie Coon is just too formidable to be the lowest status friend and Michelle Monaghan is too much on a “who?” to play a B list actress. Another oof.
It’ll be interesting to see if Parker Posey will get what Jennifer Coolidge got out of this show. I’m not sure maddeningly complacent upper-class North Carolina frau will be the camp home run that Tanya was.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 17, 2025 4:59 AM |
Jason Issacs is fighting for his life with that accent, veering from some version of Southern to Australian. Sometimes even in the same sentence!
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 17, 2025 5:01 AM |
I just can't get into it. I've tried watching the pilot and second episode three times, but always don't want to continue. Is it worth pushing through?
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 17, 2025 5:17 AM |
Well if you watched two episodes and didn't like it maybe it's just not for you r73. Everything has it's intended audience, it can't be for everyone.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 17, 2025 5:21 AM |
Patrick is a decent actor. Not great but not awful nepo-baby bad.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 17, 2025 5:51 AM |
Will watch when I get home from my spin class.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | February 17, 2025 6:23 AM |
R79: He was okay but again he's essentially playing himself.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 17, 2025 6:28 AM |
This resort is my least favorite of the three, not that I can afford to stay at any of them…
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 17, 2025 6:45 AM |
But British actors are sooo much better at doing American accents than Americans are at doing British accents!
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 17, 2025 7:07 AM |
Doesn’t make sense that Greg would return to a White Lotus.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 17, 2025 7:08 AM |
Oh, you're just going to bring up Dick Van Dyke in "Mary Poppins" again, r84. That was 65 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 17, 2025 7:26 AM |
The show is caught too much in a revolving door. And not because we start every season with a dead body and then a flashback in time to when the guests involved were greeted by the main hotel staff (which is an intentional plot device). What we have now is what I fear is lazy writing.
Once again, we have a rich, crass family (the Mossbachers/Di Grassos/Ratliffs) staying together with their sensitive, nebbishy, high-school-aged son (Quinn/Albie/Lochy) with everyone refusing to admit how unhappy they are.
Once again, we have an attractive rich alpha-male asshole bullying other people (Shane/Cameron/Saxon).
Once again, we have a sensitive, pretty young woman who is aware all is not right in her privileged world (Rachel/Portia/Piper)
Once again, we have a daffy rich woman in late middle-age (Tanya the first two seasons/Victoria).
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 17, 2025 7:39 AM |
R57, that’s interesting that Sam Nivola’s White Lotus mom and his real mom were both in Scream 3 playing Stab 3 Gale Weathers and Sidney Prescott.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 17, 2025 8:33 AM |
The two nepos get the incest storyline.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 17, 2025 8:39 AM |
Great first episode! Patrick was hot af.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | February 17, 2025 9:50 AM |
R87 People who have seen the first few episodes said it's good, but it's deinifitely the weakest season.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | February 17, 2025 9:51 AM |
R73 I feel you. I thought Aubrey Plaza would help me get into S2 but that didn't happen. What happened to those two annoying hookers from last season?
by Anonymous | reply 92 | February 17, 2025 9:59 AM |
Dear Lord, let that asteroid that is going to hit Earth in 2032 come early. And let it hit this show’s set retroactively. And utterly smite this stupidity.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | February 17, 2025 10:15 AM |
Greg looks like such a sex tourist. Even in Hawaii, he looked like a sex tourist.

Nah, Carrie Coon is perfectly vast as the Miranda Hobbes of the trio.
Monaghan and Bibb don’t have SATC correlations, they would just would be two women who were bitchy to Charlotte.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | February 17, 2025 10:24 AM |
R73, I actively hated season 1 with the exception of Murray’s plot line. Everything from self-pitying Rachel to the brother who experiences self-actualisation by *checks notes* dropping out and becoming a beach bum to live at one with the brown natives.
I only watched season 2 for Michael Imperioli. It ended up liking it a lot because I thought it dramatised sexual politics better than season 1 did white privilege.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | February 17, 2025 10:28 AM |
Mike White could have at least tried to do something other than copy-and-paste Jake Lacy's scripts from season 1 for Patrick Schwarzenegger.
In any event, Patrick Schwarzenegger will be nominated for an Emmy for playing himself.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | February 17, 2025 10:38 AM |
The older brother reminds me of a real life version of reddit "straight" guys who like to "bond" with other "straight" over female celebrities.

Op is a shameless shill
by Anonymous | reply 99 | February 17, 2025 11:59 AM |
When it comes to this show, the slow burn thing works for the first episode, but starts to grate after. Usually, it picks up by the end of episode 3.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | February 17, 2025 12:28 PM |
Patrick is the best looking living Kennedy.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | February 17, 2025 12:48 PM |
New theme song is the weakest of the three, by far.
Jason Isaacs is usually so good with an American accent, so what went wrong here? Parker Posey has even less of an excuse for sounding like a cartoon.
Is it just me, or does anyone else not get Patrick's hotness? Everything should be working in theory – he has the abs and the perfect face. Yet he doesn't have an ounce of the sex appeal of Jake Lacy, Leo Woodall, Theo James, and Will Sharpe. Or even Adam DiMarco and Murray Bartlett. I blame the Shriver eyes and teeth for this stale piece of bread vibe.
I have to compliment Mike White's directing, just as I did last season. That man has a great eye, those monkeys in particular were shot beautifully.
Carrie Coon's abs looked incredible in that bathing suit, good for her.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | February 17, 2025 12:58 PM |
Would Jon Hamm have been a better choice than Jason Isaacs?
by Anonymous | reply 103 | February 17, 2025 1:04 PM |
I don't like it.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | February 17, 2025 1:12 PM |
Maybe. Jon Hamm would be a scootch young, I think.
If Tom Cruise would deign to make his TV debut, he is often convincingly corrupt under his perfectly coiffed hair.
A lot of actors could play it. Kyle McLachlan, Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe. Even Clooney, though I wouldn’t care to watch him.

Love Parker but her southern accent is so bad.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | February 17, 2025 1:39 PM |
Her southern accent is Iike a caricature.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | February 17, 2025 1:49 PM |
I find her utterly unwatchable.

She’s Foghorn Leghorn
by Anonymous | reply 109 | February 17, 2025 1:53 PM |
Patrick's character is clearly an incel. He has the looks to draw attention, but his personality is a total dud - note how he struck out with all the ladies at the pool and tried to brush it off with faux confidence. My guess is this will become more important as their week progresses, or maybe he finally lands someone and does crazy shit as a result.
I think Parker's character is supposed to be completely off in her own world, she's not really supposed to fit normally into the family.
ZION IS HOT
by Anonymous | reply 110 | February 17, 2025 2:00 PM |
Posey is just absolutely miscast playing a mother.
It will be interesting to find out when Season 3 is set. Is it happening concurrently with S2? I thought I read somewhere that Belinda isn’t aware of Tanya’s death yet. I hope there’s a twist that Tanya left her a few million in her will after screwing her over in Season 1.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | February 17, 2025 2:28 PM |
... or maybe she'll end up with Greg, who (supposedly) got her money.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | February 17, 2025 2:41 PM |
Posey did a good southern accent in that "Waiting for Guffman" movie nearly 30 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | February 17, 2025 2:50 PM |

[quote]Chuck & Buck wasn't about incest. They were just close friends as kids who fooled around.
Same-sex friends as close as brothers who fucked around. Nah, not related in the least...
[quote]The show is caught too much in a revolving door.
No, it's "caught" in a specific model of eerie goings-on at luxury resorts, each while looking at various aspects of society. The first one was about privilege & colonialism, and S2 was primarily about toxic masculinity. Yes, it has a "formula" – something bad happens at the beginning of each season, but we don't know what until much later – but the odd part is you finding it weird. Would you watch "Murder, She Wrote" and somehow not be surprised if Jessica Fletcher didn't both have someone murdered nearby & solve the case by the end of each episode?
Or a "Scream" movie where a high school girl gets murdered by a weird dude definitely calling from inside the house?
Do you seriously want to see "The White Lotus: Extreme Makeover Edition," where rich people bitch & moan about building houses in the developing world, instead? Please.
[quote]Patrick's character is clearly an incel. He has the looks to draw attention, but his personality is a total dud - note how he struck out with all the ladies at the pool and tried to brush it off with faux confidence. My guess is this will become more important as their week progresses, or maybe he finally lands someone and does crazy shit as a result.
While I think it's a stretch that he's an "incel" – Saxon has zero "game," as it were, but guys who are THAT hot can still manage to get laid – there's absolutely something off about him, but out of curiosity, did anyone else catch that the kids were homeschooled? That could explain it. It's almost like Mike wrote Saxon as the absolute blandest hot guy on the planet: someone who knows he's hot but has zero personality behind it. His brother seems confused at best, and potentially sexually so, but it's also not clear how much of an age difference there is between the two of them. (Lochlan's a HS senior, and their sister's in college, but we don't know when Saxon finished at Duke. IRL they're 10 years apart in age, which might at least explain the oddness re: them discussing jerking off: if Saxon's a decade older, he presumably wouldn't have been living with Lochlan during his adolescence.)
I mean, even his clothes and walk are bland! Saxon wears ill-fitting baggy clothes despite having a wide enough torso to wear far better-fitting attire. We haven't yet established that he can even communicate with other people in a non-weird way, but I have Lochlan down as most likely to go postal this season.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | February 17, 2025 3:39 PM |
Well, keep in mind that Saxon tried first to hit on the three older schoolfriends who do not seem to be looking to get laid (they're more into hanging out together), and then with Walter Goggins's girlfriend, who is pretty taken. He may well have game in a different situation, but he's hitting on women based on proximity and hotness--he's not being discriminate.
It's not like this is a gay bnb where anyone you hit on will fuck you then and there if you're hot enough.

I think the teen daughter who dresses like a Mennonite is likely to be the shooter. Everything about her is strange, from the trip around the world to interview someone who doesn't know she's coming to the fact that she wasn't "ready" to walk into the monastery after they got there.
Walton Goggins is a good actor, so I hope the script has more depth than just giving him Angry Asshole to play as it goes along.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | February 17, 2025 6:47 PM |
Interesting premiere episode with a lot of storylines. The reviews were accurate in saying it was more of the same but with a good cast. It might be a little too overstuffed with characters and plots.
Jason Isaacs sounded like he was auditioning to replace Daniel Craig in the "Knives Out" movies. Parker Posey seemed like she was in a different show from everyone else. And yeah, the incest vibes from the three children were too strong to ignore.
Crazy ending theory: Jason's character (Tim) discovers he will be arrested upon returning to the States and have his entire life taken away. After hearing this, he runs into Rick (Walton's character), they get into a fight and Jason shoots him. Jason returns to his cabin, finds his children having an incest three-way and shoots them and his wife. Just as security breaks in, he puts the gun to his head, pulls the trigger and ... click. Empty.
Roll credits.

Isaacs’ and Posey’s accents are terrible, but it’s nice to finally hear Walton Goggins without an exaggerated Southern accent. He’s usually the one who sounds like Foghorn Leghorn, but I think he’s probably using his normal voice here. I like it.
I also like his big, round eyes. They were so expressive when he was looking at the elderly resort owner.
He and Isaacs are definitely going to have an altercation.

White always focuses on some natural element looking in on the dumb humans, it's another conceit of the show.
That said when Carrie Coon drunkenly left her door open and they made a point of her being isolated up in the trees part away from everyone else, and she saw the monkeys romping right there, I def think monkeys will be making their way into her room at some point, probably this very night the show ends on

My thoughts:
Fuck Greg! Hope he finally dies. Wasn’t he supposed to be terminal in season 1? But, it’s cool he’s in this season. He needs to get his comeuppance for siccing the gays on Tanya.
Lachlan is going to lose his shit- he’s being pulled between his mom and dad and his brother and sister. Could he be the shooter?
I want the best for Belinda and the parking attendant employee. They’re sweet. Her son is cute.
Those two bodyguards who were talking to Mook were hot! I hope we see more of them when Hollinger arrives. (Was Hollinger Scott Glenn in the pictures we saw? Looked like him)
Patrick S. is fine. Not great not awful. He’s attractive, but has no sex appeal for me. Maybe he’ll get poisoned by those seeds from the fruit he picked up. Someone probably will.
Decent start to the season.

Too bad Kaitlyn Dever’s career has taken off to the extent that she’s not playing the Ratliff daughter. She’d be a great physical match with Parker Posey’. Why did they change the intro theme song. In the second season it was the same song but with a different twist. I was hoping we will get the same song but with the Thai twist. Instead we got a completely new song, which is just stupid, and doesn't go along with first two seasons.

Why would they have a poisonous fruit trees growing inside the hotel premise? And if that guy didn't picked up a fruit in front of the stuff lady, they wouldn't even know it was poisonous. That just doesn't seem realistic at all. To have fruits that could kill you laying on the ground of the hotel room's garden
by Anonymous | reply 146 | February 17, 2025 10:43 PM |

A kid got eaten by an alligator at a Disney world hotel because there were real alligators living in bodies of water at the resort. So there being some trees on the resort that have poisonous fruit didn't seem *too* farfetched to me. It's for ambiance not meant to be eaten.
But I do wonder how Chekhov's fruit will come into play, clearly someone is getting poisoned before the season is over.

This episode seemed to imply the younger brother was attracted to the older brother but in the series previews that aired after, it looked more like he was going to actually sleep with his sister…so I think this episode was just to rope people into thinking it was a gay plot when it’s not.

R156 Could be wrong, but I don't recall Greg and Belinda having any direct interaction in S1. Belinda definitely knew about him, though, from Tanya telling her about him and cancelling on her to meet up with him. Greg probably knew about Belinda in the same way, Tanya telling him about her and the "spa for poor women" proposal. I can't imagine why he'd consider Belinda some kind of loose end, though, at least not compared to Portia. He knows Portia wasn't murdered and likely figured out his scheme...

I was thinking that too - she's trying to be Tanya 2.0 (or Tanya if she'd had a family). But I kind of think what worked for the character (aside from Coolidge) is that she's so daft and oblivious, yet she's obviously so lonely & vulnerable, so her behavior seems more childlike & not so affected

It's very possible that Jason and Parker's accents sound a bit off because they're supposed to. It's also possible that if they aren't who they say they are then the kids might not even be related.

I kind of wondered that too - in the preview, the younger brother tells the sister she's hot. What brother says that to his sister? Sibling relationships at that age are more like the contempt displayed in the Season 1 family. It did make me wonder if the whole family act is some kind of con.

Having sexy incest in there here and now - I would be pretty shocked.

Anyway, with the fruit, she said the seeds were toxic not the fruit itself. I see it as a commentary on modern capitalism - doesn't care about the risks as long as it looks good. And yes, stuff like this does happen for real. Link related gives an example in...oh, Florida again.

SPOILERS (don't say you weren't warned! Some are interesting, but some are extremely boring)
*
*
*
I read a lot of the reviews of the first episode of the new season of "The White Lotus," and some of the critics spilled the beans (who saw the first four episodes) about a few things about upcoming episodes. As I said, some of these are admittedly not very interesting, but others are very interesting.
*The first few episodes will be slow (the first is considered the slowest of all), but then things pick up incredibly quickly by the fourth episode.
*The Parker Posey character, Victoria Ratliff, is a habitual Lorazepam abuser, and we will find out she's a huge snob. She is the course of most of the comic energy for the season.
*Timothy Ratliff, the Jason Isaacs character, is the grandson of a former North Carolina governor, which is why the family acts like they're Southern royalty (besides their money)
*The Ratliffs' youngest son, Lochlan, is gay and may be planning to come out of the closet to his family
*The incest vibes we're picking up among the Ratliff siblings have been noticed very intently by the critics, who suggest they may be amplified as the season continues (although they don't say if they will be acted upon)
*Laurie (Carrie Coons) is recently coming off a big divorce, which is in large part why she's so unhappy and wound-up in the first episode
*The Leslie Bibb character among the three friends will constantly be pairing off with one or another of the other two friends to say nasty things about whichever one is absent
*Belinda will be the connection between the rich guests and the hotel workers (unsurprisingly). She will also have a romance with another staff member at the resort.
*The senior Thai woman who owns the center is a huge fan of Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and her TV show, which is why she assigned the hottest of her wellness experts to the three women friends
*There will be tons of shots of Buddhas (symbolizing spiritual ideals) and also of monkeys (symbolizing human desires and bad behavior) throughout the season
*Future episodes will take some of the characters to Bangkok
*The two older men's girlfriends--the British one from "Sex Education" and the Le Bon daughter--will be the equivalent of the two Italian girls from the second season (I'm not quite sure what that means)
*Greg (Tonya's widower and the plotter of her murder) is now going by "Gary." He is abusive towards the Le Bon daughter.
*Some critics consider Patrick Schwarzenegger the season's standout performance. His character will become obsessed with making protein shakes in the resort, and the noise of his blender will drive everyone else crazy. He will make many more inappopriate comments in the next two episodes concerning his siblings' sex lives.
That's all I know so far.

R254 Out of all things to complain about, you guys find the worst one. That actress is beautiful, especially for her age. Who are all these real life tv stars that are so much beautiful than her? And since when do tv stars have to be drop dead gorgeous? Carrie Coon is minor tv star and you say she's not as pretty as the other actress. That doesn't make any sense

Jacked up teeth (teeth with big gaps) seem to be a thing; the AL Wood looks like she could be one of the Jagger/Hall spawn who are very attractive, but have their father's less than conventional good looks. That's what this girl reminds me of - attractive in a very British way

[quote] Patrick's character is clearly an incel. He has the looks to draw attention, but his personality is a total dud - note how he struck out with all the ladies at the pool and tried to brush it off with faux confidence. My guess is this will become more important as their week progresses, or maybe he finally lands someone and does crazy shit as a result.
I think he's going to take out his sexual frustration on his younger brother.
[quote] I think Parker's character is supposed to be completely off in her own world, she's not really supposed to fit normally into the family.
My guess is that either she's going to be the shooter, or it's going to be the black lady.
The black lady is on the verge of cracking. We don't know what happened in her life, but apparently, it was something bad and she went to Thailand to fix it.
When Zion heard the shots, and kept saying "I hope my mom is okay" over and over again, it made me think that she might actually be the shooter. That would be wild.
Otherwise, I think that Parker Posey's character (who is basically sleepwalking through life) will finally WAKE UP when she finds out that her perfect husband, her perfect kids, and her perfect life are not perfect at all.
Then she will finally open her eyes, and go ballistic by shooting everyone.
I subscribe to the theory that "it's always the quiet ones."

R325 No whining from me, I'm very much looking forward to any of the intriguing permutations Mike White will devise. A Dad & Saxon hook-up would be very hot - especially considering that no genetic abnormalities could result from it. It's true that it can also promote the sharing of beneficial microbes among family members. Now it's possible I would have reservations if Michelle and her gorgeous son were to become intimate, but that would seem so out-of-character for her that I doubt very much it is likely to happen. Still, you can't rule it out, Mike does like to push the boundaries. All in all, I think this is stacking up to be a lively season, even if there is no incest. But we'll see.

R331 I always thought I was cool with all manner of carnal relations, as long as participants are consenting - in life and in art. Then I was watching this comedy with the aging Jack Nicholson & Diane Keaton, their characters playing at romance. Towards the end of the film Keaton starts dating a younger, but by no means young, Keanu Reeves. Watching this I was hit by just a wave of revulsion, like actually physically disgusted by the thought of their union, because of the age difference! Totally surprised me, and I couldn't explain my ridiculous reaction. I guess some shit is so deeply ingrained, even when you know it's stupidly inconsequential, a pointless prejudice can still raise its ugly head.

"I think everyone is misunderstanding the dynamics at play in the trio
I think everyone is glossing over the main dynamic in the trio.
Jaclyn and Kate are not leaving the other girl out. They are interlocked in an uncomfortable and embarrassing display of insecurity. KATE is the aggressor, and the main personality establishing the toxic atmosphere. This is a one sided jealousy; Kate is incredibly envious of Jaclyn and covets what she has in life. At every turn she brings up something about Jaclyn that Jaclyn cannot control. (how young she looks, how she was “the face, of course”, how she handles fame)
I am sympathetic to Jaclyn. She shows no signs of enjoying these UNPROMPTED comments coming from Kate. She is uncomfortable and deflects by complimenting Kate back. She is sensing Kate’s all consuming jealousy and tries to dissipate it in the only way she knows; by fawning and trying to placate Kate’s obvious insecurities. She also is the only one who tries to include Laurie. Kate never does. The thing is when she tries to include Laurie she knows she cannot give the same shallow compliment to her that she gave to Kate. She tries to compliment Laurie in a way that reflects who Laurie is. Laurie isn’t shallow like Kate, and it’s hard for her to find a suited compliment (on theme with the conversation) to give someone who isn’t following a shallow game of complimenting looks and money/fame. This is why it comes out so awkward in my opinion (“what you do is so hard”)
What Laurie is being left out of isn’t a friendship. It’s a thinly veiled back and forth filled with bitterness and discomfort. This is a Jaclyn sympathy post; the real instigator here is Kate in my opinion. She shoots Jacyln with compliments, slipping them into the most innocuous conversations. She is consumed by Jaclyn.
This isn’t a third wheel situation. This is a ringleader (Kate) sinking the friendship and Jaclyn too passive to stop Kate’s jealousy from consuming the entire energy of the room. Poor Laurie is not upset bc she’s excluded but upset because she’s realizing there is no friendship to begin with. There is nothing there to be a part of. Nothing she would want to be a part of anyways."

I agree 100% with r343 - Bibb's character is extremely toxic and unhappy, and Monaghan's character, at worst, just seems kind of dumb. And I think Coon is just thinking "Why did I subject myself to this shitty dynamic again?????"

I'm re-watching the 2nd season right now since I want to watch more of the 3rd season and its (frustratingly) only being released an episode at a time.
It is interesting to see how much Jennifer Coolidge's humor and the superb score buoyed that season--I think they are both huge losses this season, although i am willing to see where they go with Parker Posey's character (my sense is that she will be played for laughs the most).
One thing it's intriguing to see about the previous season on a second watch is how bored I get with the Cameron and Daphne characters, even though Theo James is so hot. Part of the problem with having a show center on extremely shallow people like Cameron and Daphne is that other than their beauty and money there's very little to them, so whenever they're on screen in the first few episodes I mostly want them to go away. I will say, though, that Mike White did a good job making Daphne more layered than she initially seems, so by the later episodes where she's clearly hinting to Harper (Aubrey Plaza) that Cameron is not the father of their children, and that she finds ways to get back at him for his selfishness and womanizing, she actually becomes more interesting. it helps that Fahy is a good enough actress that she can bring out these sides to the character; unfortunately, for all his hotness, Theo James (while perfectly adequate) is not given more to do with his role.
It's funny because many Dataloungers always want more hot male naked bodies on primetime dramas and that's about it, but I would just as soon watch porn for that if the characters are not interesting--and being able to suffer is what usually the only thing that makes shallow people interesting. So flat rich male characters with good bodies (like Cameron, or Shane the first season, or maybe Saxon this season unless they develop him further) just aren't interesting to me after i get a good look at their bodies the first episode and my lustful curiosity is satisfied. After that, they had better be more layered and be played by men who can actually act.

The White Lotus is adjusting its reservation list for Season 3: Actor Miloš Biković will no longer appear in the upcoming season of HBO‘s luxury resort anthology, TVLine has confirmed, following protests about his casting from Ukrainian officials.
“We have decided to part ways with Miloš Biković, and the role will be recast,” a spokesperson said in a statement. HBO hasn’t released character details for Season 3 yet, but Deadline reports that Biković was to have played the small recurring role of Russian Valentin, a flirtatious yogi and the hotel’s Life Enhancement Mentor — a role that will now be filled by Shadow and Bone’s Julian Kostov (as of Feb. 6).
HBO came under fire last month after casting Biković, a Serbian-Russian actor, due to his ties to the Russian government and his perceived support for the invasion of Ukraine via interviews and social media posts. (Biković was granted Russian citizenship by a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2021.) After he was cast, Ukraine’s ministry of foreign affairs directly asked HBO on social media: “Is it all right for you to work with a person who supports genocide & violates international law?”
Biković released a statement of his own after his departure, which reads in part: “I was honored to be chosen to be a part of [The] White Lotus, a TV series that I hold in high regard and with colleagues whom I deeply respect. However, my participation is not possible due to reasons beyond the realm of art and I will not bow to any narrative that seeks to compromise my integrity.”

For fucking crying out loud. You got all of this (gesturing broadly) from three four minute scenes in a single episode.
Sometimes the simple explanation is the correct explanation. Obviously one of three women is feeling excluded. The question is why and what the backstory is.

I never had a chance to watch the first two seasons of White Lotus, but I started subscribing to MAX in December, and just watch the first four episodes of Season 1.
This show is so good!
I watched episode one of Season 3, and I can't believe how much funnier Season 1 was, in comparison.
I absolutely love that the hotel manager is a gaslighting, former addict who gets off on torturing the entitled rich guy. That is so fucking hilarious!
And the entitled rich guy is equally hilarious, in his rivalry with the manager. It's hilariously ridiculous!
The Jennifer Coolidge character is amazing. So glad this show gave her a comeback.
Oh, and Steve Zahn is very sexy. I loved him in Joy Ride acting along side Paul Walker back in 2001 and he still looks good today. He's aged a bit, but he still has a youthful quality.
I have two more episodes to go, but I'm loving Season 1.
Very curious about Season 2, but I'm guessing it can't possibly be as good as Season 1.
Season 3 is looking promising, though.

Different strokes, I guess, but nothing beats Season 1, some of the best series TV ever. I adore Fred Hechinger, but then everybody was perfectly cast.
What I can't believe is how, with each new season, the cast members, both old and new, are virtually adored, DEVOURED, by the public and then once it's over, White Lotus doesn't seem to have had much effect on any of their careers. Well, maybe with the exception of Jennifer Coolidge and Sydney Sweeney. But what's become of Murray Bartlett, Steve Zahn, Alexandra D'darrio, Jake Lacy, those Italian girls, Meghann Whateverhernameis, the hot young actor who played Michael Imperioli's son (I can't even remember his name), et. al???
Oh, and that hot young Hawaiian stud who I followed on Insta for a while.
by Anonymous | reply 403 | February 21, 2025 8:03 PM |
I'm not sure the show is valued so much for being career transformative--anthology shows like this and "American Horror Story" (for example) almost never are. (In fact, most shows with enormous casts rarely are: which stars emerged from "Game of Thrones" other than a tiny handful, like Jason Momoa and Pedro Pascal?)
I think instead it's a matter of these shows potentially offering really fine work (when they're well written) for serious and dedicated actors for a season. I've also been disappointed, for example, that Murray Bartlett did not find better work after Season 1 (where he was so electrifying), but I'm sure if you asked him he'd say that just getting to do that part was a huge reward=--I'm sure he's rarely been given a part that well written in his entire TV and film career., and he certainly is someone who cares more about the work than the fame. The same is likely true for Carrie Coons who was already a standout in the first episode.

It seems like submission/domination is a big plot point this season. In the Goggins couple, he says she’s the crazy one - I think they're going to buck the stereotype of older boyfriend/young doormat girlfriend and it’ll turn out she pulls the strings. The hierarchy of the three friends is pretty obvious, and I think a fight for domination within the group will be what leads to their fallout.
And with the family - there was the whole convo about how dad is so rich and has a perfect family and everyone loves him. Obviously we don’t know yet, but my guess is he molested the older son, and now the older son is molesting his little brother. Another hierarchy. I could be way off on this, but just thought it was an interesting thread carried through all the characters.

Posey is from the South but the accent seems affected. North Carolina has a rather distinctive accent--think Andy Griffith or for a grating version, think Charlie Rose. No one sounds like that here.

I saw the movie Fargo several times in the theater. Each time during the credits, there was a variant of “We don’t sound like that” in the thickest of Minnesota accents. Blanche, you do sound like that.

The Ratliff sister looks Latina. Saxon does not look like a WASP— WASP men are softer looking, not as wolfish. Lachlan looks like a prototypical nice Jewish boy.

Nope

He walked naked to the bathroom and we saw his ass. When he turned around to close the door, his dick was not shown. Above waist only.
A few moments later he was bent over the bathroom counter setting up his iPad and we saw his flaccid dick reflected in the mirror. Wasn't that special of a scene. Probably a prosthetic dick.

I lived in RDU for eight years. Most of them have a midwestern accent, not a thick southern drawl. There are some words that are very southern. Y'all, fixen... but mostly they sound like average midwesterners.

It wasn't hard.
It was shown, but it was in shadow, and you had to sue a freeze-frame to really see it. Do a search for "Patrick Schwarzenegger nude" on DL and you'll find it.

I just finished Season 1.
The ending was kind of depressing.
The manager died. Belinda got screwed over. The cute Hawaiian guy went to jail. And trophy wife Rachel just gave in. The spoiled asshole Shane got his way,
The only one who had a happy ending was Quinn, who escaped his horrible family. Oh, and Tanya, who screwed over Belinda.
Season 2 was off to a slow start for me, but I'm up to Episode 4, and it's picking up.
Love the Italian hookers. Love the Ice Queen hotel manager. Love Albie. How could he possibly be attracted to that fugly midget who is Tanya's assistant? She looks like Jill Whelan from The Love Boat.
Curious about the psychic, and why she was all worked up about Tanya, after she read the cards. And I can't believe that Greg is cheating on Tanya.
Oh, and Theo James is so hot! He makes a perfect DOUCHEBRO. I was kind of hoping that he and Ethan would hook up, while their wives were away.
I had to take a break, but I can't wait to get back to Episode 4. There are seven episodes in Season 2, so one more than in Season 1.
Now I finally see why people were so hyped about Season 3. This really is a great show.

OMG, she does!!
[quote] Curious about the psychic, and why she was all worked up about Tanya, after she read the cards. And I can't believe that Greg is cheating on Tanya.
R459 Your second sentence is connected to the first one. Also: Did you not notice in S1 that Greg went for a vigorous swim of laps in the hotel pool...then later tells Tanya he has a terminal illness? How many terminally ill people do you imagine are capable of that kind of athleticism given their health?
Keep watching S2. If you're at episode 4, you're getting close to these things getting explained.

R460, the Gypsy fortune teller scene is exceptional. Coolidge is so funny ("Why are you NEGATIVE?) that the fact that you are watching a classic horror movie scene doesn't fully register. Sorry, the cards never lie . . .

Interestingly, the fortune teller told Tanya that Greg was involved with someone beautiful (Tanya's response: "Is it ME?")... I knew it could not be Tom Hollander, who is not a beautiful man.

This is from LSA:
See No Evil • Hear No Evil • Speak No Evil
As it relates to the characters imo (at least so far): Saxon is creepy fµck but he doesn't see what he does as harmful; Piper tries to block out evil that happens around her (which adds to her repression), Lochlan keeps quiet about weird sh!t that he sees (he didn't seem very surprised at his brother walking around naked in front of him).

There is something about the dense, dark, overly vegetated environment, even the beaches, that is so claustrophobic and oppressing. I find it's distancing me from the characters, at least so far. There's so little sunlight, which was a major element of the first 2 seasons.
I do keep reminding myself that last season didn't really get going until E4. Even the brilliant S1 took a few episodes to lure me in.

Nothing about any of the seasons of this show would I call brilliant. I would say repetitive. You have the oversexed hot straight guy (Schwarzenegger), who's the Theo James stand-in; you have the younger brother, who's the stand-in for the younger brother in the first season...

I’ve been trying to place the actor who plays Lachlan, and realized he played Lee Polk, the teenage boy who was raped by his father, in Eileen. The big reveal in that movie is that his mother knew all along and allowed it / helped the father by giving him a bath and an enema every night before bed. With the bizarre, incestuous vibes in the Ratcliff family, I almost wonder if it’s headed in that same direction. Or maybe that would be too sick, even for White.

I've just recently watched the first two seasons and they also start out very slow, while White introduces us to the characters and shows us what the tensions are among them. Very little happened in the first two episodes of either of the previous seasons.
I'm actually enjoying the mystery of what the Walton Goggins character is after from the Thai lady's husband (is he his father?), and also what was up with the backstabbing Austin woman and PP's Victoria. (Something happened between them that PP's character, Victoria, doesn;t want to be reminded of, even though as always her character was stoned out of her mind.)
I did really enjoy the backstabbing among the three friends. They have so much resentment towards one another.

So was Mook in on it? She was being friendly to the guards

That’s what I figured, R569, and Mook and Valentin are probably fucking. That’s why she’s avoiding Gaitok’s overtures.

In the first episode Kate, wife of a sort of successful Texas businessman, humblebragged about protecting herself from fake friends , then this week has her own social climbing clocked and zapped dead immediately by Parker Posey, the wife of an ACTUAL successful businessman
The relationship between the cranky Tommy Bahama guy and dental spice is actually pretty sweet. You can see he actually cares for her when he finds her after the robbery. I’m starting to like them a lot.
Mike white is really good at fucking with us. We were lured into thinking Laurie was the “ quality” friend because he made her reserved and less pretty. But on second watch of the episode I noticed little hints in the dialogue that she was equally shallow to the others and lo and behold she’s just as much of a backstabbing bitch as they are. I hate them all and hope they die in a circular firing squad.
I could listen to Parker Posey order thai food all day long
Are Greg/Gary and the French Canadian (Meagan Draper!) model scamming Tommy Bahama and Dental Spice? Were they behind the robbery?
What’s a red herring and what’s a clue?
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Portia showed up in one of her dumb Gilligan island hats

R456 Freeze framing? GOD, is it really worth all of that?

Episode 1 was surprisingly boring and I expected the hotel and property to be breath-taking, but they weren't.

A hate watch with beautiful photography. The most annoying things are the fangirls who don't like it when bad direction or repetitive storytelling are exposed.

R575 It’s a little early in the game to call the season out for bad direction or repetitive storytelling since this show is pretty much designed around the idea of red herrings, subverted expectations and the intentional misdirection of viewers’ sympathies.
One thing I noticed this episode: We had at least three moments in episode two where people are characterized as prostitutes.
Victoria calls Jaclyn (and all actresses, categorically) a prostitute at breakfast when her kids challenge her snobbish behavior towards the cougars
Saxon assumes his masseuse is a prostitute and gets frustrated by her failure to provide a happy ending.
Then Rick decides Chloe is a prostitute based on the backstory she and Rick provide at dinner.
Meanwhile Valentin is very quietly playing the cougars against each other and setting himself up as a prize to be fought for. I think he’s the real whore of the cast.

R565 Did you miss Lochlan looking at Saxton's ass?

Why did Parker Posey and Lesley Bibb have such an awkward "remember me" moment? Will that come back to haunt one of them later on?
by Anonymous | reply 578 | February 24, 2025 12:48 PM |
Was it my imagination or did Saxon pitch quite a tent when they showed him face up on the table?

I'm loving Carrie Coon.

r578. Victoria is a distrustful snobby, happily disassociated bitch who is not interested in palling around with anyone other than her family and her pharmacist. She does not realize it but she is on a collision course with a Schitt's Creek level reversal of fortune so yes, we can anticipate her to be embarrassingly humbled.

R575 is right. The excuse that 2 or 3 episodes can be crap and boring because then it will pick up is pretty lame. It's bad writing, period.

Leslie Bibb is playing her character from GCB. Loved that show.

[quote]*The two older men's girlfriends--the British one from "Sex Education" and the Le Bon daughter--will be the equivalent of the two Italian girls from the second season (I'm not quite sure what that means)
They are whores, darlin’.

It’s kind ridiculous that the younger brother doesn’t offer to service Saxon. I think Saxon would have taken him up on the offer.

Charlotte LeBon Is not related to Simon or Yasmin Lebon in any way.

Was it not a little weird and unrealistic that the violent robbery in the jewelry shop didn't seem to affect the evening's festivities just a bit? The hostess and guests all seemed to take it as an everyday occurrence.

Dental Spice is in Danger. "I almost died!" 2x dismissed by others feels like foreshadowing, especially when paired with the story of the girl whose warnings of tsunami went unheaded "They didn't listen to her!"
That Snake bracelet she was admiring in the shop. 100% She is going to see it somewhere and put 2 and 2 together and become a target.

The show must go on, 590.
There are most certainly robbery, assaults of every description and deaths of in hotels, probably monthly. They’re not going to hold a dirge or post apologies in the lobby.

It was weird that the security guard stayed on duty after being attacked.

Leslie Bibb’s character trades in gossip, I didn’t see her as a particular social climber, her behaviour seemed pretty normal.
Parker Posey’s inherent wackiness gives a new angle to this kind of monied matriarch, but she’s coming off as a more “trashy” than polished - she doesn’t have the body language. I can better imagine her being one of those doped to the eyeballs eccentric aging Southern Belles who loves her sons a little too much if she were a Patricia Clarkson type.

The Ratliffs are definitely new money.
Victoria is loopy and weird, but her eccentricity isn’t of the old money variety.
And UNC, while a good school, isn’t really where an old money Southern family would send their daughter.
I’m guessing she and Tim are very self-made.
Victoria snubbed Leslie Bibb for some reason other than bring Victoria looking down on her.
