MAYBE WE'RE WRONG?

I am stunned that I'm not seeing and hearing much more pushback from numerous communities as the Trump regime blames DEI (just another name for the "N" word) initiatives for nearly everything that is wrong with the USA. I'm confused why there are not more military veterans screaming as this Administration strips away their needed services. Who is fighting for the children and those with disabilities? Where are the various senior services organizations such as AARP speaking out about how these changes will affect their members? We won't even comment about women and their silence as they are being reduced back to second-class citizenry again. As for the gays and their rights, I suppose nothing matters as long as there are sufficient tops and bottoms. Just on and on...

BUT...

Hakeem Jeffries says that "God is still on the throne"....

Okay...

Maybe I'm (we're) on the wrong side of these issues?

Most people are somewhere in the middle on these issues.

by Anonymousreply 1February 1, 2025 12:09 PM

No. They want you to doubt yourself. They want you to see reality, but take their word instead. Even better? If you just tune out entirely.

People are not responding because we lost the election. They know that a lot of people rejected or ignored us at the ballot box. It’s going to take time to regroup.

Do not doubt yourself. Generations struggled to get us to where we are. It’s not time to give up.

by Anonymousreply 2February 1, 2025 12:14 PM

Let me explain something to you OP

Getting offended by every single thing is what empowered Trump in the first place

by Anonymousreply 3February 1, 2025 12:33 PM

[quote]Getting offended by every single thing is what empowered Trump in the first place

I respectfully disagree. Why shouldn't we become offended? He and his ilk are trampling on advancements that were hard fought and hard won without any acknowledgement and/or respect for those battles for the individuals that made them possible. So R3, are you saying...

I should remain quiet and not be offended if I am a Black person whose history was literally withheld (taken) from me and now there are aggressive attempts to do that again?

I should remain quiet and not be offended if I am a women who is basically being told that I am too stupid to know what is best for me and my body?

I should remain quiet and not be offended if I am a gay person as my rights and opportunities are under attack with a real possiblities of being taken away and once again relagating me to second class citizen?

Empowered by who?

Are we the majority or the minority?

by Anonymousreply 6February 1, 2025 1:29 PM

DEI includes women.

by Anonymousreply 7February 1, 2025 1:44 PM

Trump owns the MSM now. We can’t trust it to report on anything we need to know.

by Anonymousreply 8February 1, 2025 1:55 PM

And what are you doing about it, OP, other than aiming your outrage at us?

by Anonymousreply 9February 1, 2025 1:55 PM

Here's the thing, black women and Latin women all did the right thing during the last election. If they're sitting on the sidelines now and not yelling and screaming and panicking, that's their earned right. They tried to stop this from happening.

All of you are posting minute-by-minute updates about Trump's latest shenanigans, and melting down are acting like the man didn't campaign on all of this, that it wasn't all written down in a nice little manifesto called Project 2025. Did you think he was being ha ha funny when he was going around the country saying he was going to do this? Are you still waiting for him to say "psych" I'm just funning with you? He's got the House, the Senate, and the Court, and no amount of foot stomping and raging is going to change that. He can do whatever he fucking wants and he will.

This is what everyone who voted for him wanted, and this is what everyone who voted for him deserves. It sucks that some innocent people and groups are going to be screwed, but blame the 8 million Biden voters who stayed at home this time and no one else.

by Anonymousreply 10February 1, 2025 1:56 PM

Mike drop R10.

by Anonymousreply 11February 1, 2025 2:01 PM

Like affirmative action, DEI was setup to be a failure because the main beneficiaries would be white minorities like white gays and women just like white women were the main beneficiaries of affirmative action.

Black people are always at the bottom of the list of things that were created for them. Black people benefit from civil rights the LEAST before all the “people of color” and non black gays and women who get to be considered “minorities”.

And they are ALL just as vile and nasty and racist to black people.

So I don’t care. Black people should be liberated from the rainbow coalition they’re always being thrown into.

by Anonymousreply 12February 1, 2025 2:02 PM

There’s so much and it’s so fast and it’s so confusing that it is paralyzing a lot of people and organizations.

by Anonymousreply 13February 1, 2025 2:03 PM

So much is happening at once. The volume is overwhelming. Like a firehose.

by Anonymousreply 14February 1, 2025 2:04 PM

And DEI is a slogan, not an actual thing. There are no established standards and no definition and describing it as if it were a thing you could outlaw is insane.

I mean what’s the opposite of DEI? Incest, nepotism and exclusion?

by Anonymousreply 15February 1, 2025 2:07 PM

[quote] There’s so much and it’s so fast and it’s so confusing that it is paralyzing a lot of people and organizations.

Agree r13/Elderlez, but that clock is ticking on getting our fight on; February is going to be a critical month.

by Anonymousreply 16February 1, 2025 2:13 PM

Whatever MAGAts lose, brown and black people lose, too. And that is necessary bread to Trump voters.

by Anonymousreply 17February 1, 2025 3:06 PM

[quote]And what are you doing about it, OP, other than aiming your outrage at us?

Myself, and three others (two are professors, one is marketing, and I'm in finance) have come together and partnered with 3 religious establishments (Baptist, Catholic, and Jewish), and will be offering free 2-3 hour classes each Saturday for the next 6 weeks, that will be teaching Black History. Initially, the classes were for ALL children 18 and under but due to the interest, the classes are open to anyone who is interested in attending. We have received local area business sponsors and financial funding commitments for providing lunches and financing for other needs. Lunches are being prepared by local residents and the religious establishements have graciously donated their spaces and kitchens. This is all volunteer and I'm so proud about how our community (a very diverse one) has come together for this initiative. Hopefully, we'll get positive press.

Wish us luck! We "kick-off" next Saturday!

by Anonymousreply 18February 1, 2025 3:44 PM

OP is too busy watching rom-coms and true crime to notice what's happening around them.

by Anonymousreply 19February 1, 2025 3:47 PM

AARP was ALWAYS full of tea tards and now maggots. The old coots aren’t going to do fuck all because they’re racist af.

The ACLU has been slapping that bitch right and left, but I guess you haven’t heard about that OR Marc Elias fighting for voting rights and preventing a bunch of dumb shit regarding voting taking effect.

People are putting in the work, OP. Except the media won’t talk about it and the Democratic “leadership” is full of pathetic little Vichy bitches.

by Anonymousreply 20February 1, 2025 4:15 PM

R17 hit the nail on the head. And Trump knows that MAGAts only care about hurting the same people. They don't care if Trump's policies hurt them. THEY DO NOT CARE and that is what so many get wrong about MAGAts - they are FINE with Trump screwing them over, they would die for him.

by Anonymousreply 21February 1, 2025 4:16 PM

Let’s give some love to SAGE. Don’t mess with the elder gays.

by Anonymousreply 25February 1, 2025 4:26 PM

It’s not so much being wrong. It’s being out of touch with the rest of the country, the minority in terms of numbers, it’s picking the losing side.

And because we could not beat the worst presidential ticket in history we get what losers get. And trump remembers what we did to try and defeat him and what we said about wanting him dead.

It is what it is,

Next time try and do better

by Anonymousreply 26February 1, 2025 4:27 PM

They need money to file, r23.

Idk where others are. It’s not my job to inform you.

Maybe YOU should take action yourself or start a group instead of bitching on here. I am going to take some “urban farming” classes and try to start a community garden in a marginalized neighborhood.

Senators grilled all Trump's cabinet picks mercilessly. To no avail. The fix is in among the GOP.

I'm sick of people saying we should blame this segment or that segment of the Democratic Party. Blame the cretins who have these agendas and policies. AND MENDACITY......

REPUBLICANS. Blame REPUBLICANS - the ones doing this.

by Anonymousreply 29February 1, 2025 5:23 PM

If you want to take on this fight, then instead of waiting for the Democratic Leadership to do something, why not let the grassroots take the wheel? Stop looking for "daddy" to save you. If you want to start a war, then start one.

by Anonymousreply 30February 1, 2025 5:34 PM

Thank you, r30. Obama spelled it out, practically begging Democrats to push for stronger action than he could politically champion. They responded by letting Republicans run wild, leading to where we are now.

by Anonymousreply 36February 1, 2025 7:07 PM

[quote]I don't think Kamela was bad though she wasn't great.

Wasn't great in what ways, R35. Please elaborate? Wasn't great in comparison to what we got? Trump and his minions did not hide anything about what they would do once in power.

by Anonymousreply 37February 1, 2025 7:10 PM

[quote]TRUMP IS WHAT SHITTY AMERICANS WANT.

EXACTLY!

But what should we do if your own side-so to speak, believes the bullshit pushed by Trump? Here's an example. She posted this on Twitter;

Symone D. Sanders Townsend@SymoneDSanders

Let me tell you a story:

In 2015 I was working on a Presidential campaign and one night some of the staff go to dinner. While there, the person heading up our campaign research (let’s call him Research Guy) looked at me and said he wanted to give me some advice.

He said I will need to get some additional experience before I am able to make this much money again. 🧵

5:01 PM · Jan 31, 2025

Research Guy suggested I try some state legislative races or a governors race because there are things I will learn there that will be necessary if I want to get hired on another presidential campaign. Taken aback , I asked what made him think I didn’t have experience?

(I worked on nearly 25 different races including a gubernatorial before 2015)…

You know what Research Guy said? In front of a handful of our colleagues at dinner he told me I only had my job because I was Black and if our candidate hadn’t had issues with Black people I wouldn’t have gotten the job.

The was the first time someone had ever so clearly said “it” to my face…

This wasn’t a combative conversation at all. He said it very matter of fact and even doubled down. I excused myself from dinner and went home.

Research Guy didn’t even ask me about my experience he just assumed I didn’t have any 😬. He thought this role was bestowed upon me and I didn’t earn it…

I felt embarrassed, frustrated, belittled and powerless. For weeks I was miserable, but I never stopped working. Because I wasn’t about to allow someone who clearly lacked basic etiquette to run me out of a room I know I worked hard to walk into. I was already here so I thought I may as well make it count.

And I did. Idk where Research Guy is now, but he knows exactly where I am. 🙏🏾…

A lot of people in this country including the President sound like Research Guy right now. I have some advice:

Do not allow these people to run you out of the room.

Do not stop working.

Do not give them the benefit of the doubt.

They have no idea of your power.

Show them.

All this meritocracy vs. diversity false dichotomy nonsense is bullshit. Hiring only people who only look like you is something only stupid people do. Do not accept their faulty premise.

by Anonymousreply 40February 1, 2025 7:26 PM

I said this in another thread, but Trump linking the recent airplane crash with DEI is a real disaster. People are going to refuse to board planes if they see there's a black pilot. Every single black person in any job higher than cashier will be assumed to be undeserving of it. We're about to enter a whole new epoch of prejudice and discrimination.

by Anonymousreply 41February 1, 2025 7:29 PM

Someone on another thread called Hegseth a DUI hire. I think that’s a good retort. What are you complaining about imaginary DEI hires when Trump is literally making DUI hires to head the military.

by Anonymousreply 42February 1, 2025 7:36 PM

I agree with you Elder Lez,R39. But what do you do when you have a poster like R35 (whose coment is representative of thousands who feel the same way) who provides no clear reasoning of why Madam VP wasn't "great" What does that mean? Whether one agrees or not, Madame VP had a plan for affordable housing but Trump did/does not. Yet, she wasn't great. Madam VP had a plan for childcare and healthcare but Trump did/does not. Yet, she wasn't great. Just on and on...

PS; I'm not picking on you R35 because I truly believe that your sentiments are reflective of thousands. All I'm asking is what could she have done more of (in your view) to "earn" the moniker of "greatness" especially when compared to Trump?

by Anonymousreply 43February 1, 2025 7:37 PM

A good retort

This is what the dumb ass dem party is left with—-good retorts. While the gop totally runs the country

We are a weak ass party. And who do we blame——america. Certainly not us.

It’s like the last place team in the standings blaming the first team in the standings for their woe. We are a party stuck in the bottom and the best thing we can come up with is retorts.

Silly fucking party today. That is why we lost.

Barack Obama@BarackObama

Congrats to our new DNC chair, Ken Martin. Ken has done outstanding work in Minnesota, and will bring that same energy and drive to this new role. Together, we need to build a bold, responsive Democratic Party that can tell a compelling story about who we’re fighting for and where we need to go as a country. I am grateful to all who are stepping up to engage. Lots of work ahead!

by Anonymousreply 50February 1, 2025 8:35 PM

Biden then Harris proved to be a bad choice. And the Harris vp walz helped none at all except not being able to hammer Vance in a debate.

I think a lot of Democrats are scared, frankly. by Anonymousreply 67February 1, 2025 10:13 PM

I don't think the overwhelming majority wants what is about to come. I do agree that there are many who are delusional in thinking that it will not come at all. It will be a wakeup call for many.

[quote] The other half doesn't have any answers or power to do anything about it. It's going to take hitting rock bottom before we can recover. IF we can recover.

I agree as far as those in the Congress. I'm reminded of the massive BLM riots that happened after the George Floyd murder. Does anyone else remember the massive outpouring of support that came from corporate America and other facets? Maybe I'm incorrect in my recollections but I really don't remember congressional Democrats support. Oh yes, they rode the wave of public enthusiasm of the incident and movement, but I don't recall any major legislation being put forth that would make a difference and help the objectives of the movement. Yes, the George Floyd bill was proposed and had luke warm support of Democrats but nothing else that I can remember. The Republicans were able to regroup and then took control of the narrative and most of those earlier commitments were rolled back or rescinded.

I suppose the issue that I have with congressional Democrats is that there are very few fighters or those who know how to fight. While I like Adam Schiff... I just don't know. I really miss having Katie Porter in Washington. I like Jasmine Crockett but it appears to me that she may have gone "Hollywood". Bottom line... there are just not enough tough fighters in Washington DC, IMHO.

If anything is to be saved it will have to come from the efforts of the grass root's efforts.

by Anonymousreply 68February 1, 2025 10:32 PM

Blaming the Democrats is like blaming the Jews for not trying hard enough to defeat Hitler.

STOP IT ALREADY! There is one party ruining this country, the one in power, the one who controls the Supreme Court, the one who controls the Presidency, the one who controls Congress, the ones who are making Oligarchs out of America's richest people.

Trump has successfully started a smoke screen while he has had Elton Moose put Trump/Moose computer servers onto the systems of every payment system of the American Government. He has sucessfully placed Trump/Moose servers in the Treasury department, he had a fight with the outgoing Social Security department chief over the Social Security Servers, and all of the General Service Administration. Trump no longer has to ask the House how he can spend/steal American cash.

They have stolen the American Bank.

They can starve ANYONE. We are all slaves.

by Anonymousreply 72February 2, 2025 7:53 AM

Notice that Trump IMMEDIATELY backed off of the freeze on grant payments. IMMEDIATELY. Why? It wasn't congressional people getting up giving speeches. It was millions of people flooding their congresspeople and telling news media how this was impacting them at the exact moment. "Grandma is not going to get her meals on wheels". "Grandpa's getting kicked out of his medicaid paid nursing home where he's been in the alzheimer's ward for 5 years after exhausting all of his savings". "Thousands of veterans are one government paycheck away from living on the streets, and you just took that away". On and on and on. Plus threatening, or getting media to cover the personal plights of the affected.

That is our power. Every person on DL and frankly, every person who is paying attention, needs his/her congressman's office on SPEED DIAL. He'she needs to have the physical address to write letters. He/she needs the email address. Even if your congressman is Republican, personal stories about Trump-inflicted pain matter, especially if you mention that you are planning to contact the media in your area to do a personal -interest story on this or that action. They need to be hounded into doing the right thing.

We are only helpless if we leave it up to our feckless congresspeople to do the heavy lifting. Presidents and congresspeople both rather depend on the public NOT to be paying attention. We'll, we ARE paying attention. For some reason, I'm on republican donor mailing lists - they are all connected. I have been emailing them threatening them with legal action because I have unsubscribed numerous times to no avail. But I take the opportunity to remind them that Trump barely won, and did not get a plurality of the vote, and that the House and Senate have very slim margins. Non action, or aiding and abetting a convicted felon to do more misdeeds will put them out of power very quickly if they don't offer a check on some of his most egregious actions - (which frankly means ALL of his actions).

Donate to the ACLU if you have the funds. Donate to any liberal organization that you can afford to that has a track record of successfully bringing lawsuits. The southern Poverty law center is another one. It's sad that in my so-called golden years I have to get off my ass and fight (as I did in the AIDS years and later with the whole stupid Iraq invasions), but we've been left no choice.

And I'm not convinced that half of the American people wanted this. They wanted change, that much is clear, but so many of them are low-information voters, easily swayed by Fox, talk radio, TikTok and a million other poor sources, there is no telling what they believed they were voting for. Many have probably quit paying attention, now that the election is over and they're not being bombarded, but when the firings start hitting locally, and the economy starts tanking, quite a few around the margins are going to wake up in a hurry.

I am not an asshole saying how patriotic and loving of my country I am , despite never serving my country in any way, except for the majority of Americans I hate because they don’t agree with me.

by Anonymousreply 80February 2, 2025 12:20 PM

R80 I mean...you do know the issue is not simply about disagreement, right?

by Anonymousreply 81February 2, 2025 12:23 PM

A disagreement is my favorite football team is better than yours. This is a football field away from that. This is about setting our country back 60 years, because of some misperceived notion that heterosexual white men don't get a fair shake in life.

by Anonymousreply 82February 2, 2025 12:31 PM

You aren't on the wrong side of the issues. The economy is already faltering.

by Anonymousreply 83February 2, 2025 12:41 PM

All of what r10 said

by Anonymousreply 84February 2, 2025 12:50 PM

Trump doesn't look healthy enough to last 4 years and JD Vance will be impotent as POTUS.

by Anonymousreply 85February 3, 2025 12:14 AM

[quote] Trump doesn't look healthy enough to last 4 years and JD Vance will be impotent as POTUS.

They were always inconsequential in the first place. The right wing billionaires are running the show.

by Anonymousreply 86February 3, 2025 12:19 AM

He thinks once he's preswident he will have the power, not the techbros.

by Anonymousreply 87February 3, 2025 12:12 PM

R14, project 2025 spelled it all out.

by Anonymousreply 88February 3, 2025 12:53 PM

It is just the warm-up.

Now that he has wired the Federal government with his personal malware and HE now controls the purse strings of America, look out Trust Funds of Social Security.

by Anonymousreply 89February 3, 2025 4:03 PM

Sorry I am from Europe and tried for years to win the greencard lottery but I always lose. Why should I tolerate illegals who just jumped over the border? Especially the feminist types who always talk about equality and equity should support Trump in this because an illegal alien cheats the the people who want to come legally to the US like the men who cheat the women in the patriarchy.

by Anonymousreply 90February 3, 2025 4:09 PM

You are a dumbass.

This is about Trump labeling all ASYLEES as ILLEGALS.

And Asylees become illegal when they miss an immigration court appearance they have not been notified of.

This is all about the Browning of America and preventing the Browns from becoming voting citizens.

It is about Evangelical White Supremacy.

So shut your I'M here legally crap. What is your country of origin?

by Anonymousreply 91February 3, 2025 4:21 PM

Nobody knows what’s really going to happen. Vets are worried about benefits being cut, housing assistance cut, social security cut….personally it’s a little scary to be outspoken on Dumpfuckery on social media now that they’re picking enemies to punish. If you’re surviving using all three of these…

by Anonymousreply 92February 3, 2025 5:46 PM

Veterans and old pukes VOTED FOR THIS SHIT.

Even AFTER he called them “suckers and losers “.

They get what they deserve.

Same with old people. You voted for it, now you can die for it. Fuck you.

by Anonymousreply 93February 3, 2025 6:21 PM

Actually Gen Z males switching to Trump en masse is what got us here. Old people didn’t change much. It’s very similar to 1933 Germany.

by Anonymousreply 94February 3, 2025 6:50 PM

Well this veteran and old puke didn’t vote for him.

by Anonymousreply 95February 3, 2025 7:52 PM

Neither did this one -- and I'm an old white female!

by Anonymousreply 97February 3, 2025 10:34 PM

Trump is purposely conflating DEI and Affirmative Action.

DEI is about giving everyone the opportunity to learn about available trainings and jobs, not about lowering the bar for them.

For example, holding a job fair at a women's college or for the handicapped. Having healthcare provider schools work with grade schoolers in minority neighborhoods to attract them to potential careers in healthcare.

The biggest beneficiaries of DEI programs have been white women.

by Anonymousreply 98February 3, 2025 10:39 PM

You are AWESOME, R18! Very impressive and wonderful stuff.

by Anonymousreply 99February 3, 2025 10:41 PM

You must not be an American, R98. Your post is smart and intelligent.

by Anonymousreply 100February 3, 2025 10:42 PM

Fuck Leon.

He big bad his butch is getting dragged.

Cry harder, you pathetic little cunt!

by Anonymousreply 101February 3, 2025 11:30 PM

On behalf of my community, I thank you, R99. We're extremely excited about this program but what is much more exciting is the diverse interest and participation that we have and are receiving!!!

by Anonymousreply 102February 3, 2025 11:35 PM

I think it’s not the concepts of DEI that are wrong. Rather, it’s DEI’s badly communicated political and administrative optics. It shouldn’t be this separate, other additional bureaucratic level of “thing”—instead, its norms should be part of and codified into workplace human resources and governmental policy. Less focus on how different we all are, but on what strengths, goals, and initiatives we can and do have in common.

by Anonymousreply 103February 4, 2025 1:03 AM

You know what? All the lectures and virtue signaling after George Floyd only created jobs. The anti-DEI movement is not only destroying jobs, it’s destroying whole programs that has nothing to do with race or gender.

Gee, where have we seen this before?

And this old vet did not vote for him either.

Next time you might want to do some actual research rather than just running your mouth. Biden did not lose old people he lost support among the young, young Hispanic, young blacks, young males,

Keep calling them Nazis that will bring them back to the party.

by Anonymousreply 106February 4, 2025 10:46 AM

That's not a outlier quote and feeling among many, R105.

One of my favorite quotes came from political pundit Zerlina Maxwell years ago;

"The problem with the White male in this country is that they feel that the only way they can help this country is to run it!"

by Anonymousreply 107February 4, 2025 10:56 AM

[quote]Keep calling them Nazis that will bring them back to the party.

I for one don't call them Nazis but rather they are ignorant of their own history and of those before them who fought and worked to give them the "freedom" that they now have today. Now, by no means am I saying that they must vote Democratic but rather support the individual who is in your best interests. How that gets them to Trump is simply beyond my thinking.

I found the video clip below quite interesting but so disappointing. It's a little less than 15 minutes long and you should "skip to" and "skip over" however you want, but I would suggest that you really want to go to the 6:11 mark and watch. I just SMH when one you Black man said; "Yeah! They do a better job than we do (referring to immigrants) but they're taking our jobs."

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

No protest is going to get off the ground because the media is already kneeling. All methods for dissenters to communicate will be gone in months or weeks.

by Anonymousreply 109February 4, 2025 11:29 AM

The organizers of the upcoming 50501 Movement demonstrations, or 50 states, 50 protests, one day, have announced they have partnered with Political Revolution, a group initially created to support Senator Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential bid.

The 50501 Movement has organized demonstrations against the Trump administration on Wednesday, Feb. 5 in all 50 state capitols across the United States.

R106 if you are referring to me with that Nazi comment, I am referencing the sudden change in the demographics of the youth voting population that returned dangerous felons to power.
