I picked up my first Wegovy pen today.

Any advice from anyone who has taken it before or who’s currently taking it? It’s funny, I’ve been trying to get the prescription for so long, so many hurdles, but now that I have it, I haven’t jumped on it. I am not used to taking any kind of medicines, so one that you actually gave to inject is a big step. And part of me still has that fear of failure that I’ve faced so many times before - like if this doesn’t work, where does that leave me?

Of course I’m totally ready to get ripped apart on here. I won’t to defending my reasons against the typical naysayer commentary. I will be combing the responses for constructive advice. So if you have any, please feel free to share.

For a real thrill, jam it in your belly button.

by Anonymousreply 1January 27, 2025 9:37 PM

Wegovy is old news, Zepbound is better

by Anonymousreply 2January 27, 2025 9:39 PM

I don’t think zepbound is available in Europe.

by Anonymousreply 3January 27, 2025 9:41 PM

What are you planning to do with it?

by Anonymousreply 4January 27, 2025 9:41 PM

Use it to lose weight r4.

According to DL lore, OP, once you take your first hit, you'll go to sleep as a toad and wake up the next morning as Prince Charming.

by Anonymousreply 8January 27, 2025 9:43 PM

I've been on GLP-1s for a while and have lost about 40+ lbs. Some tips:

1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Add electrolyte powder.

2. Up your protein intake.

3. Constipation is a thing on these drugs. Fiber helps, as do prunes. (No joke!)

4. Start an exercise program even if light.

5. You still have to watch what you eat, but the drugs will kill your appetite.

Good luck!

by Anonymousreply 9January 27, 2025 9:47 PM

It is mostly constipating. Other than that I’ve had no real side effects. Maybe I had diarrhea three times during a year of taking it, but that was usually after drinking a lot of hot coffee.

by Anonymousreply 10January 27, 2025 9:47 PM

Also, everything that R10 said, especially increasing fiber.

by Anonymousreply 11January 27, 2025 9:48 PM

Oh no! I meant everything that R9 said.

by Anonymousreply 12January 27, 2025 9:49 PM

What r9 said. Learn which protein shake you like best and start your morning with that.

by Anonymousreply 13January 27, 2025 9:53 PM

If you do have an evening of over-indulgence in high fat party foods (or even a good full meal at a French or Italian restaurant) along with alcohol, you may want to carry some Pepto-Bismol or Imodium with you the next morning, wherever you are.

by Anonymousreply 14January 27, 2025 9:54 PM

As for exercise, make sure that you get some resistance training. I have read that GLP-1s (Wegovy, Zepbound) can lead to muscle loss, although I haven't experienced that since I've been doing weight training.

by Anonymousreply 15January 27, 2025 9:55 PM

Just took my second shot, OP. I haven't had any side effects so.far but it's only my second week. I feel full sooner and generally less hungry. I've lost a couple of pounds already but have another 25 to go.

Good luck, OP. Hope you're successful.

by Anonymousreply 16January 27, 2025 10:00 PM

If these drugs constipate you, consider using Dr Schultze’s intestinal formula number 1.

It’s herbal and I’m not kidding when I say that, if you take one before you go to bed, the next morning you WILL poop. I guaran fucking tee it.

Don’t take it too much. Just on a day you feel especially backed up and bloated and really need to void your bowels.

by Anonymousreply 17January 27, 2025 10:00 PM

OP, I'm on Wegovy, too, though, not for weightloss, but for insulin resistance as a Type 1 / 1.5 LADA diabetic. It's considered and "off label" use. I'm so grateful my endocrinologist was able to get it approved as it has dramatically reduced the amount of insulin I have had to take.

Others have covered the basics, but, some other things to be aware of...

- The needle pen is so fine that the first time I took it I thought it had failed and not even injected me. Your milage may vary, but I've found that it's best to (a). inject in a sight that isn't overly fatty -- like if your upper torso has less fat than your lower torso, that can be good because you get more resistance against the pen, (b). follow the included instructions closely and make sure you create a tight seal/push down so that the pen needle makes full contact, (c). And definitely hold it in place for 20 seconds before lifting it up. If you have liquid from the pen on your skin, dripping down, you did not insert it properly.

- Other mentioned constipation, which many people do experience because part of what Wegovy does is slow down your digestion. But, note, some people experience diarrhea, so you'll just have to see how you react.

- Not everyone has to move up to the top dosage. This is something you should consult with your doctor on. Some people experience enough of the benefits at one of the lower dosages. And some people find that the highest dosage curbs their appetite TOO much -- so that they cannot get enough calories/macronutrients.

- As others said, strength/resistance training + eating your protein macros (Google what that means and how to calculate your macros) is so important to ensure you're losing fat while gaining/maintaining muscle.

- If you're a fast eater, try to eat more slowly, because, eventually, depending upon which dose you stay at, you may get full very quickly, but, as you know, those signals from your stomach to your brain are delayed and by the time that signal reaches, you may feel sick to your stomach.

- Make sure you've kept your weekly pen out of the fridge at room temperature for several hours/a day or two. Refrigerated medicine can hurt when injected. Keep your future/to-be-used pens refrigerated, though.

Good luck!!

by Anonymousreply 18January 27, 2025 10:02 PM

have some ginger ale and/or hard ginger candies on hand. It helps with any nausea you may have in the first few weeks.

by Anonymousreply 19January 27, 2025 10:02 PM

Oof! Sorry for the misspellings/typos. I was obviously rushed.

by Anonymousreply 20January 27, 2025 10:03 PM

My advice: Don't stop taking it until you reached your goal weight. I had to stop because legislation in my country changed and doctors weren't allowed to prescribe it anymore for people without diabetes. In very rare cases (sucks to be me) patients can develop an immunity when they stop taking it. I took a minimal dose when I was first given it and it had a very noticeable impact on me - it was a miracle drug. Now I tried to take 5x the dose (as prescribed by my doc) to no effect, so I quit. I have been fighting with my weight for my whole adult life. It sucks. Good luck, OP!

by Anonymousreply 21January 27, 2025 10:03 PM

BTW, all my advice was related to Wegovy in the U.S. I don't know how/if the doseages and types of pens varies country-to-country. For example, in the U.S., you generally get 4 pens in a prescription (1 pen per week.) The pens are pre-dosed to your current dosage (from a low of 0.5MG to a high of 2.4MG) and single-use.

I've taken it for about 7 months. Down 60 pounds.

[quote]3. Constipation is a thing on these drugs. Fiber helps, as do prunes. (No joke!)

This is my only "complication". Keep OTC laxatives in the cabinet. Otherwise no issues at all.

by Anonymousreply 25January 27, 2025 10:16 PM

I've been on Zepbound (the compound version of tirzepetide) since April 2025 and have lost 60 pounds (220 down to 160). I'm now at the weight I was in high school and feel great. Also, and I apologize for the visual, but I used to always have very loose stools and and overactive digestive system, things would come out within a couple hours of ingesting them. Since this drug, I've rarely experienced this anymore. The constipation in the beginning and whenever I increased dosage was annoying, but was never too extreme.

by Anonymousreply 26January 27, 2025 10:27 PM

R21 look into Retatrutide

by Anonymousreply 27January 27, 2025 10:28 PM

A far cheaper version of the Dr Schultze's formula is one I get from Swanson, Senna Cascara and Psyllium Complex. It's available cheaply from Swanson itself and also from Amazon (priced slightly higher).

Gotta drink some water with it, but I usually take it just before dinner with water and the next morning I poop like a champ.

by Anonymousreply 28January 27, 2025 10:40 PM

and I should add, a LOT of water. At least 16 ounces, more is better.

by Anonymousreply 29January 28, 2025 12:18 AM

How's the hanging skin risk? That's what's holding me back. I see Ozempic bod at the gym all the time and I;'m not sure these guys look any better naked. Cunty way to put it but am interested about the loose skin problem.

by Anonymousreply 30January 28, 2025 12:31 AM

Just lose it slowly. Stay on a low dose

by Anonymousreply 31January 28, 2025 12:35 AM

Good luck OP I was on Ozempic for 2 years and just changed to Mounajor (I'm diabetic). I have lost 40 lbs and kept it off. No side effects thank goodness. My biggest take away was listening to my body - as others have said you just aren't as hungry, but in the beginning i was eating "out of habit". Once i realized I wasn't as hungry and started acting on that the weight started coming off. I basically eat 2 meals a day (most days) - breakfast and lunch.

I have also been trying to be more active, which will only help. The mounjaro is new this year but my doctor suggested it ,so we will see how it goes. I'm my 2nd step up dose, if that goes well I 'll transition to the maintenance dose (apparently the insurance company only allows 2 months on my current dose). It was actually my liver doctor (i have fatty liver, shocker) that suggested I ask my dr about the glp1. It's been good so far.

My A1C is 5,8 which is the lowest its been in over 10 years. I take metformin but no insulin.

by Anonymousreply 32January 28, 2025 1:22 AM

But can in write in cursive?

by Anonymousreply 33January 28, 2025 1:40 AM

Thank you everyone for all the amazing advice. I will definitely try and integrate your suggestions into my process. R16, we are almost twins. I think I’m going to take my first shot today.

I already go to the gym pretty frequently. It’s just been discouraging since covid. I’ve always had to work to lose weight and stay in shape. But since 2020 it’s been much harder to lose and manage my weight which has only led to more discouraging weight gain. I am most excited to clearly see the fruits of my labor at the gym.

by Anonymousreply 34January 28, 2025 5:20 AM

OP I would imagine you're on the lowest starting dose. You WILL see a reduction in your hunger and "food noise" but don't be discouraged if it's immediate. Stay the course, ask your doc to increase the dosage every 4 weeks or when your hunger starts returning. It's totally worth it.

I should also say I am no longer on blood pressure medications, my cholesterol is normal, and my bodyfat level went from 27% to 16%.

Also, loose skin wasn't a problem for me, even though I lost 69 lbs and I'm 55 years old.

by Anonymousreply 35January 28, 2025 11:58 AM

R35... thanks... we're not not far apart in age. Your response is really encouraging. Can I ask, did you do anything to help with the skin? Especially moisturize? Anything?

by Anonymousreply 37January 28, 2025 12:18 PM

I took my first injection today. I know Tuesday is a random day of the week to remember. But I didn’t want to wait any longer. It’s a .25 dosage, so I guess I’m not really feeling anything. I do feel full. But for me with food, feeling full didn’t necessarily always stop Mr from eating. I just wonder if it’ll make me sick now. We’ll see.

What does the full feeling feel like when you’re on the higher dosage?

by Anonymousreply 38January 28, 2025 9:37 PM

Any takers of oral terzepitude or however it’s spelled? Drops under the tongue. Can’t swallow for five minutes, can’t eat for 30. Something like that. Daily. If you don’t like giving yourself shots…

by Anonymousreply 39January 28, 2025 9:47 PM

^the shot isn’t bad. I was nervous at first, but it’s super fine. The injection area did “burn” a bit after. It was very little, just noticeable though.

No, Rose @ R41

by Anonymousreply 43January 28, 2025 10:57 PM

Don't bother with the oral medications, not nearly as effective.

by Anonymousreply 44January 28, 2025 11:56 PM

OP here.

It hasn't been quite a week yet, but I do feel the affects. Even though everyone says it, you don't realize how the drug works by taking away your appetite by making you feel full, until you experience it. I didn't realize this is the primary way in which you lose the weight - not eating. Surprise, surprise. It's like walking around just having eaten Thanksgiving dinner. You feel full just about all the time. And I am on a low .25 dosage right now for a month, since I paid for it ($255 for four).

So I see now why it's really important to pay attention to what you eat, as others have said. Because on the flip side of eating too much and eating the wrong things, you now have to make sure to eat enough of the right things to stay nourished. If you get hungry, you can't mindlessly graze on chips, you have to eat something nourishing, because that might be the last time you're hungry for a long time. And I am learning that eating when I am not hungry is no fun. I don't get sick, I just feel really uncomfortable.

The problem that I have is that my husband shows his love through cooking. Eating is a big part of the time we spend together. He doesn't have a weight problem, so this is all kind of silly to him. SO, I have to make sure to be hungry for dinner, which means not really eating anything all day, or very little. Obviously he'll have to get used to over time, but this first week, these are the types of issues I am navigating.

by Anonymousreply 45February 1, 2025 1:56 PM

^effects...

by Anonymousreply 46February 1, 2025 1:57 PM

Oddly constipation is a common side effect, I experienced the opposite. I was on Ozempic for pre-diabetes. It made me super nauseous and I would have late night crap sessions that would kill a moose. I had to go off it. I am on Mounjaro now and for some reason I seem to tolerate it much better. Only mild stomach discomfort occasionally and no more shit explosions. The one thing I do notice is the injector with Ozempic was painless the Mounjaro one feels like a bee sting,

by Anonymousreply 47February 1, 2025 2:04 PM

My husband has been on these since early November. Constipation is indeed an issue; he is eating 1-2 apples a day and has increased his fluid intake. It has definitely decreased his appetite. He has maintained his exercise (walking the dog 3-4 miles a day) and has lost 12 pounds in 3 months. It's the first time he has been under 200# in 20 years.

by Anonymousreply 48February 1, 2025 2:11 PM

OP you'll find eventually you just won't even crave certain foods, like sweets and high fat, which is also immensely helpful in eating healthier.

by Anonymousreply 49February 1, 2025 3:36 PM

I love sugar and fat. I don’t need ozempic. Just eat whatever I want every day.

by Anonymousreply 50February 1, 2025 4:09 PM

You will gain all the weight back and more after you stop. Doesn't sound like you gonna be doing this for the rest of your life

by Anonymousreply 51February 1, 2025 4:12 PM

It’s interesting you say that R51. I am interested to see how much food I need to live. I know that sounds extreme. But it might be a lot less than I ever thought. I am not talking about starving myself. But I am keeping a journal of what I am eating, keeping track of everything. That way when I stop taking wegovy, I’ll at least know how much food I n”need to maintain my weight.

by Anonymousreply 52February 1, 2025 4:26 PM

My friend did it and when she stopped, she said her cravings came back big time

by Anonymousreply 53February 1, 2025 6:02 PM

The only (nearly) guaranteed way to prevent hanging skin after major weight loss is by utilizing autophagy--i.e. incorporating some kind of water fasting regimen into your weight loss protocol. It doesn't have to look the same every week or day (in fact, it's better that it doesn't for a few reasons), but it needs to be consistent. And having the advantage of a major appetite suppressant in your tool belt will make it incredibly easy.

Whatever fasting protocol you use (18:6/20:4/alternate day fasting/5:2/rolling fasts/etc depends on what feels most natural/convenient to your lifestyle, but all will provide the autophagy necessary to prevent or at least enormously lessen loose/hanging skin as long as they're observed consistently during your weight loss process. The other major benefit to incorporating some kind of fasting regimen is that it doesn't wreck your metabolism the way calorie restriction does.

Dr. Jason Fung's 'The Obesity Code' is an incredible resource and wealth of knowledge in all things fasting.

I’m on 5ml weekly compounded semiglatude, at first I felt like crap but I find a prilosec for acid and an anti-gas pill every am before my coffee have been super helpful in keeping nausea at bay. Watch your liquor intake it can hit harder while on this med. I’m down 7lbs this month, going to the gym 4x a week for moderate cardio and light weights.

by Anonymousreply 55February 1, 2025 8:19 PM

I have like 25lbs I want to lose in total. I’m not too worried about hanging skin, fortunately.

by Anonymousreply 56February 2, 2025 12:09 AM

by Anonymousreply 57February 2, 2025 12:51 AM

by Anonymousreply 59February 2, 2025 8:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 63February 5, 2025 11:48 AM

Op did it come with bell bottoms?

by Anonymousreply 64February 5, 2025 11:58 AM

Had a chat with my doctor yesterday, asked about Zepbound. He said he could/would write a prescription but it wouldn’t be covered by my insurance unless I was a full on diabetic. Borderline pre-diabetic, no. The local area pharmacies charge $1000 a month paying cash.

His biggest concern is that after a certain age, you don’t want to lose muscle mass. These drugs cause you to lose fat and muscle. He also listed some drugs that work differently, one was Contrev (? Spelling) that might work but not as dramatically.

by Anonymousreply 65February 11, 2025 2:34 PM

What is the update OP?

You ok?

by Anonymousreply 66February 11, 2025 3:03 PM

R65 these drugs work by decreasing your appetite/making you feel full. Any fat or MUSCLE loss is a result of that, just like you would on any diet restricting calories. The key is to maintain muscle by eating plenty of lean protein (100mg+ a day) and some type of resistance exercise.

In my case my bodyfat went from 25% to 17%. My muscle mass, by contrast, has increased from 45% to 52%.

Go get a second opinion.

Also, you can get compounded GLP-1s for a couple hundred $ per month, check around.

by Anonymousreply 67February 11, 2025 3:17 PM

Thanks r67.

by Anonymousreply 68February 11, 2025 3:43 PM

I started Ozempic on January 26th after encouraging two friends to take it last year (which they did). I held off on taking it myself for reasons, but after clearing up my reasons, I finally took the plunge after being the heaviest I've been in over 20 years. At my highest (a few months ago), I would need to lose about 49 lbs to get into the top range of "NORMAL" for my height.

I have lost 30-40 lbs on my own in the past, but that was when I was much younger. I'm 56 now and metabolism and I are not exactly on the best terms these days. I was able to lose 7 lbs prior to starting Ozempic, but it was rough. I was eating under 1000 calories (usually in the 800 range) every day and walking a LOT (around 3 - 5 miles a day plus 3 days a week gym visits). I ended up with a foot injury from doing way too much walking way too soon (I clocked 48 miles in 17 days) - essentially not giving my feet time to adjust and had to scale way back because I couldn't even walk without limping. I decided that I needed some help and took the plunge.

I lost 5.2 lbs in my first week, and I just took my second shot two days ago (Sunday). I'm still on the lowest dose for the next 2 weeks, 5 days. I knew about the constipation, so I take Benefiber at least twice a day (the powder, mix it into coffee/tea - completely dissolves and no weird taste). It hasn't really been an issue for me. Also, I read you're supposed to NOT have caffeine when you're on this, and by day 3, I decided that I wasn't going to adhere by that. I'm not a caffeine fiend, but I do like my 2 cups of tea or a cup of coffee in the morning. Plus it helps to "clear" things out.

It's a learning curve in the beginning because many of us have this brain pattern about what and when we SHOULD eat. I am listening to my body more and don't always eat breakfast or lunch. I also push away food the SECOND I start to feel just a little bit disinterested (probably about 6-8 bites in), then after the pause if I'm feeling satiated, I'll just take the food to the kitchen and walk away. I also don't eat if I don't feel like it. I'm starting to think I'm going to approach whether to have dinner depending on how I feel that day. More often than nought, I could probably go without dinner fairly easily, but the pattern "you should eat dinner" is still etched and needs to be erased. My body has got plenty of weight before that becomes a worry.

I got mine online and found a coupon that made my first month just $199. Thereafter it will be $299 per month (I'm on the month-to-month plan), or $249 a month if I make a 6-month commitment. I didn't want to do that right off the bat in case my body couldn't tolerate it. If that had happened, I would have had to pay for the meds whether or not I'd be using them, so I thought it prudent to start this way. So far I'm happy with what's happening.

by Anonymousreply 69February 11, 2025 4:05 PM

R69 I've never heard anything about not taking caffeine on this. I'm not a caffeine fiend, either, I typically have my morning double-shot latte (200 mg caffeine) and I've never had any issues.

I've also never experienced any side effects other than some mild constipation when I started.

At my heaviest -- and when I started taking it -- I was 218 lbs, and I'm 5'10". So, not grossly obese, but big for my frame and I looked doughy.

I was on two blood pressure medications, acid reflux medication, sleep apnea which was affecting my marriage (I tried a CPAP machine unsuccessfully). I was pre-diabetic, JUST shy enough to not get it approved by insurance, and high cholesterol. I was hungry all the time.

I'm now at 160 lbs, off the medications (other than Zepbound), sleep apnea gone, A1C and cholesterol down to normal levels, and wearing size 30 waist jeans for the first time since I was 30 (I'm 55 now).

Yes, I understand I may need to be on it for the rest of my life or risk gaining the weight back. At most it might only be a low maintenance dose to keep me from being hungry constantly. But I'm hopeful that once I've maintained my current weight for 1-2 years, my metabolism will have "reset" itself and I've gotten accustomed to eating less than 1,800 calories a day, AND sticking to eating a healthier diet (my fast food and sweet tooth cravings are gone, I haven't had fast food in months).

One of the usual comments I hear from others (who aren't on this or have never struggled with their weight) is "but you don't know what the long term effects are." Well, I know what the long term affects are of morbid obesity, and taking the other medications long term, so I'm OK with the trade-off.

by Anonymousreply 70February 11, 2025 4:25 PM

r65 I am pre-diabetic and my insurance covers Mounjour.

by Anonymousreply 71February 11, 2025 4:49 PM

OP Here. I am doing well R66. It is a learning curve for sure. I made the dumbest mistake my second week in without realizing it. I give myself the injections. And I went ahead and injected myself WITHOUT calibrating the dosage first. So basically I gave myself nothing the second week. That didn't hit me until midweek when I began feeling that "this really wasn't working for me." And I am at the .25 dosage now to start. I plan to double up this last week and switch to .5 after that.

To be honest, I think this would probably be much easier if you are single or live alone. I have a husband who shows his love by cooking. So I have to make sure and be hungry for dinner. I already hear it about not eating enough. He doesn't get that somedays I could even go without eating much or very little. But I have found myself now eating when I am NOT hungry, just to not have to hear about it - which isn't the best. I am hoping the .5 will give me more resolve and make it physically harder to do that. That is why I was asking if this only works by restricting calories and I see that is a YES. There is nothing more to it. You still have to watch what you eat IF you want to lose the weight. IT just makes it much easier to do that.

And I am for all of you people who say you are pre-diabetic or that your insurance won't cover it unless you are, I did this trick. I am not sure if it was what worked for me or not. But the day I did my blood work I didn't fast. I actually had a big glass of orange juice right before. The doctor said I was basically full on diabetic from my blood work after that. Of course I told her I had fasted.

by Anonymousreply 72February 11, 2025 5:38 PM

^ I would much rather have a big lunch and then something smaller for dinner if I felt like it. But dinner is our big meal of the day together...

Also, using an online pharmacy/doc, I don't get the "pens" - I get a vial with my first 3 months worth of medication plus the little baby syringes.

These needles are so thin and short that you barely even feel anything.

by Anonymousreply 77February 11, 2025 7:56 PM

I'm on Mounjaro and had no side effects. I eat an orange every day and that staves off any constipation. I drink a lot of water but just under 64 ozs a day as my doctor is concerned about my low sodium level ( take an BP med that has a diuretic mixed in). I'm down 27 lbs and, at my January doctor's visit, she discussed lowering or eliminating some of meds as my BP has gone down.

I'm focussing on eating more healthfully and NOT on the meds so that I don't gain the weight back when I go off Mounjaro. It's not so much the meds that are helping me lose weight. It all comes down to what you put in your mouth (no pun intended). One thing I've noticed is that, when you eat well, you eat a lot of food. I was a snacker and ate alot of bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes. I eat very little of that now. Also, little to no alcohol anymore.

I used the Lilly coupon. I pay $35/month for my pre-filled syringes and pick them up at Walmart. I have a prescription from my doctor.

Good luck, OP!

by Anonymousreply 78February 11, 2025 8:00 PM

I have the Mounjaro pens. Jesus they hurt like a bee sting but I put them in my leg (thigh)

by Anonymousreply 79February 11, 2025 11:45 PM

I was going to go for Mounjaro, but they took it off the "shortage" list so you can't get them online anymore.

by Anonymousreply 80February 12, 2025 12:46 AM

Wegovy pen? But Our Viv recommends Sheaffer!

Do these gizmos cause nausea

by Anonymousreply 82February 12, 2025 4:29 AM

R82. Gizmo causes Gremlins

by Anonymousreply 83February 12, 2025 7:43 AM

I'm on day 10 and I have only had nausea when at dinner two nights in the first week. I'm starting to realize I can perhaps eat far less for dinner or skip it altogether depending on what I ate during the day.

by Anonymousreply 84February 12, 2025 3:12 PM

*only had nausea at dinner

(changed the sentence and forgot to delete "when")

by Anonymousreply 85February 12, 2025 3:12 PM

what about all the new drugs?

by Anonymousreply 86February 12, 2025 5:56 PM

What about them? Semaglutide has been around for quite awhile (at least a decade) and used with efficacy and success in diabetics (and now for weight loss).

It's going to take some time for the new drugs to be actually implemented, then prescribed. It doesn't happen overnight.

by Anonymousreply 87February 12, 2025 6:05 PM

The nausea is caused by foods sitting in your stomach longer. This slows digestion, which is why you should not eat past 7 p.m.; otherwise, the food will sit in your stomach all night and probably make you sick.

by Anonymousreply 88February 13, 2025 3:02 AM

For people who have switched from .25 to .5, did you notice a big difference? I am about to increase my dosage with my next application this coming Monday. I have been doing the .25 and I do feel the effects somewhat. It gives me a good idea as to what to expect. My hunger has been less. And the "food noise" that comes just before actual hunger has been less - so I haven't been snaking as much. But I still have to watch what I eat, and I can still find myself eating when I am not exactly hungry. Does that become less possible as you increase the dosage? Does it become that you just can't eat at all if you're not hungry and do you find yourself less hungry?

by Anonymousreply 89February 13, 2025 11:49 AM

Well I switched to.5 and I don't notice a huge difference. I still have an appetite which is weird. I still get hungry. So I am wondering what am I actually doing injecting myself. I do not feel any real drastic difference other than slower digestion. What is the highest dosage someone has take I am curious. I should be feeling a major difference I would think.

by Anonymousreply 90February 26, 2025 5:56 PM

I thought OP was talking about a brand of pen, like Paper Mate.

by Anonymousreply 91February 26, 2025 6:29 PM

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. I have surprisingly have not lost anything. It's interesting, my body shape is different, but my weight is like 5 lbs less than where I started - nothing. Oh well.

by Anonymousreply 92March 31, 2025 2:10 PM

It does not work for everyone. If Wegove is not working, try Zepbound which is Mounjaro. Mounjaro works better than Ozempic for weight loss as it combines peptides.

by Anonymousreply 93March 31, 2025 3:43 PM

Whatever they suggest as an initial dose, cut that in half. Give yourself a week at that half-dose before going to whatever they suggested as a start.

Give your body time to adjust.

by Anonymousreply 94March 31, 2025 4:08 PM

I started at .25, the lowest dosage possible for four weeks, then I upped it to .5 about a month ago.

by Anonymousreply 95March 31, 2025 5:47 PM

r96 it never worked for me for weight loss. It did for blood sugar but no weightloss. My doctor switched me to Mounjaro and I lost weight as well Less side effects as well. With Ozempic I would get sick (throw up) but nothing on Mounjaro.

by Anonymousreply 96April 1, 2025 3:43 PM

How does it write?

by Anonymousreply 97April 1, 2025 9:23 PM

Put it up your ass!

by Anonymousreply 98April 1, 2025 9:46 PM

So I love how lax they are with prescriptions in Italy. As I said before, the .25 and the .5 really haven't done anything. I was going in today to pick up the dosage for the next month. I don't have a prescription for 1.0 so I was going to try doubling a .5 one week to see if there was a difference. But when I was picking up the the .5 I asked the guy he had 1.0 and told him the other really hasn't been working for me, and he just switched it out. The prescription is just a picture on my phone that they barely look it. I am interested to see how this works now, to see if I will actually lose weight.

The odd thing is my body looks different, My waist is smaller. I have been hitting the gym a lot, but my weight is just about exactly the same. And my clothes don't fit any better. And it isn't muscle because I have been more muscular in my younger days, but I never weight this much. So I don't know what it is. Pretty soon I am just going to assume I have some 15lbs mass inside of me.

R99, maybe you are old and it's the hormones...maybe you are a woman...not sure. but a surefire way to lose weight is go to the dentist and wire your mouth shut!

by Anonymousreply 100April 19, 2025 9:56 PM

R100, I don't think that would work. That's basically what wegovy does.

by Anonymousreply 101April 19, 2025 10:29 PM

r99...

are you actually counting calories?

are you getting your protein macros?

are you lifting weights (not just doing cardio)?

GLP-1s don't magically drop the weight for you. They suppress appetite, slow down digestion and help with insulin resistance. Hope the step-ups to the higher doses help!

by Anonymousreply 102April 19, 2025 10:45 PM

Yes, R102. Besides not eating much because of the medicine, I make sure to eat nutrients and protein and not just food. I don't want to waste filling up on things that have no nutritional value. I have been lifting more weights actually focusing on my legs. In the past, me legs have always been the fat burning center of my body. I have been doing more squats, let presses, lunges to activate those muscles. When I do cardio I alternate burst of high intensity with lower speeds. Like I said, my body does look different. But my weight is the same. I have been drinking loads more water to to make sure my movements are regular and things are moving through my body. So yes, I am hoping the higher dosage does do something.

by Anonymousreply 103April 19, 2025 10:53 PM

Sounds like you're doing the work, r103. It's not a miracle and weight loss isn't necessarily always a straight, continuous flow, so have some patience and keep it up. Re: cardio -- a lot of folks recommend steady-state cardio vs. high intensity interval cardio for weight loss, the most recommended being getting to between 10-12 level incline on a treadmill at a moderate pace (ex: 3-4 mph.) Exact incline and speed will vary depending upon your own tolerance levels and your resting heart rate.

by Anonymousreply 104April 20, 2025 1:20 AM

I've lost 30 lbs on compounded semaglutide in 11 weeks and still dropping. However, my boss (who bought the same drug from the same company as me) was on it for over 4.5 months and only ever lost 5 lbs (he had at least 35 lbs to lose). Even at maximum dose, it didn't work for him and his online doc increased the dosage for him. It still didn't work. This is a man who goes to the gym every day and works out; also goes cycling maybe once a week (at least an 8+ mile ride when he does).

His doc said that there is 10% of the population that this drug doesn't work for, and he is obviously in that 10 percentile. The online doc suggested he switch to Mounjaro and he decided that he wasn't going to try. He's understandably disappointed, especially when he's seen how effective it has been for me. I'm obviously not around him when he eats, but he says his appetite was definitely suppressed, but it just didn't help him to lose. Just wanted to pipe in that it's not effective for everyone. On the other hand, I had another friend who bought semaglutide from the same company as both of us, and that friend also lost weight with no issues.

by Anonymousreply 105April 20, 2025 2:22 AM

Thanks r105, I sound like your boss. I have about 22lbs I want to lose. But since I started this thread back in January, I haven’t lost more than 5lbs. And I would have just naturally done that on my own after the holidays by going to the gym more, like I have.

by Anonymousreply 106April 20, 2025 8:05 AM

It does not work for everybody. Also you need to be on 2ml or above to see actual weight loss.

by Anonymousreply 107April 20, 2025 1:27 PM

2ML seems like an awful lot. Are you sure? how much were you on R105.

by Anonymousreply 108April 20, 2025 1:35 PM

Not R108, but, R105 is correct about the top dosage. But, only semi-correct...

1). Not everyone needs to / will be stepped up to the highest dosage, though many are. That's between you and your doctor (and, potentially, your insurance company, unfortunately)

2). If you tolerate the Wegovy and are seeing some progress, but need to make more progress, the plan is to step you up from the 1, to the 1.7 to then the highest dose of 2.4 and then maintain at 2.4. Some people end up finding the 2.4 too strong and ladder back down to the 1.7 or even 1. The availability of those lower doses sometimes gets challenging, though, depending upon the market you live in.

I'm prescribed Wegovy for insulin resistance, not for weightloss (though I could stand to lose about 10 lbs of fat.) It did an incredible job with my insulin resistance and allowed me to reduce the amount of insulin I take daily. But, the 2.4 suppressed my appetite too much -- I couldn't stomach more than a couple of bites per meal and was not getting anywhere near my protein macros. So, my prescriber had me step back down to 1.7 which was the happy medium for me -- still effective management of my insulin resistance, but not so much appetite suppressant that I can't eat. YMMV.

by Anonymousreply 109April 20, 2025 8:48 PM

R105, so did your boss feel more hungry when he got off the drug? did he gain weight back?

by Anonymousreply 110April 20, 2025 10:42 PM

r110 he said he felt a little more hungry...but he's only been off it for about 2 weeks now.

He only lost 5 lbs and I don't know if he gained it back or not yet (he just retired so we don't get to talk every day like before). It's also kind of a sore spot for him so now that he's made a decision to not use it, I am trying not to bring it up to him unless he wants to talk about it.

by Anonymousreply 111April 20, 2025 10:46 PM

I can see how it would be a soar spot. For me it took so long to get. In the back of your mind you build it up to be this magic bullet. And when I say magic bullet, I don't mea you can go hog wild on it. But you feel that you will actually see very noticeable results from all of the hardwork you normally put it. And usually by this time you have tried every diet or meal program out workout program there is out there. So by the time you get it your hopes are so high. And for it not to work is a big let down. Especially when you see other people with less discipline than you swear buy it and and achieving their dream bodies.

by Anonymousreply 112April 20, 2025 10:56 PM

^sore spot...

by Anonymousreply 113April 20, 2025 11:01 PM

r112 He actually wasn't really thinking about using it (even though he'd heard about it) until I told him about my friend who had lost the weight on it. I was the one who encouraged him, since he also has high blood pressure and both his father and brother died from heart attacks. He had some great success doing a medically supervised "fast" using shakes for about two months. He was also allowed to eat some tuna or chicken from a can. He lost about 15 lbs, but he didn't have to think about what to eat - there was no guess-work involved for him. Part of me wonders if he really just doesn't get how many calories the food he eat has in it...and with Ozempic/Wegovy, what you eat is kind of up to you.

But he really may just be someone whose body didn't respond to it. I feel pretty bad for him. I'm down 31 lbs at week 11 on it.

by Anonymousreply 114April 20, 2025 11:03 PM

R114 is that really from just not eating? Is that mainly the big difference for you from before? Or are you working out more? Are you eating the same things as before or are you dieting as well? I must say I was a bit bummed to feel like I’m just in a medically induced eating disorder and that nothing other than not eating was going on.

by Anonymousreply 115April 20, 2025 11:38 PM

r115 - I started doing things differently about a month before I started Ozempic: stopped drinking and started walking at least 1.5 - 3.5 miles a day; also began watching what I was eating. I was really pounding the pavement, but I only lost about 6 lbs during that first month.

Feb 1st through now - still walking at least 1.5 miles per day (usually at least 2) plus hiking as often as I can (usually once or twice a week). I only usually eat twice a day, depending on how I'm feeling. I will say I'm taking in way less calories because even when I feel hungry, I get full very quickly. I am eating less than 1000 calories a day for sure.

I'm not a slug...and try to be active every day. Still I've had a few days here and there where I just didn't do much in terms of activity. I've also had a few days where I wasn't really keeping track of my calories, like this week. I was certain I wasn't going to have lost more than a pound, but I actually ended up losing 3 lbs this week.

I do think it helps utilize the food I eat more efficiently. I've lost weight on my own before and it hasn't been as efficient as this time around.

by Anonymousreply 116April 20, 2025 11:51 PM

I was under perhaps the mistaken impression that this drug had people running to the bathroom all day, which is a big reason I’ve not had it prescribed. I can imagine being on public transportation or in the gym, having to go.

I wonder if it affects women & men differently?

I’m seriously considering it & have been doing my research.

I don’t think I can bear another fat whore summer!

by Anonymousreply 117April 21, 2025 12:08 AM

r117 it affects everyone differently. For me, it has not caused the runs, nor did it for the other two people (one a woman, the other a man) I know who used it. If anything, there's a danger of being constipated if you don't drink enough water and get enough fiber.

by Anonymousreply 118April 21, 2025 12:56 AM

[quote]. I've lost weight on my own before and it hasn't been as efficient as this time around.

See r116 that is what I was hoping for. I am diligent at the gym and I was hoping for something that would show all my hardwork.

Constipation is definitely a factor. I have started drinking at least 2L of water a day to stay regular. Part of me is hoping I just have a 15lbs turd inside just dying to come out.

by Anonymousreply 119April 21, 2025 6:13 PM

Any updates to share? I just got approved for my pen and about to start.

by Anonymousreply 120May 20, 2025 11:10 AM

Just an update. I actually switched to Muonjaro a couple of months back. I didn’t do Wegovy properly. I didn’t know you were suppose to steadily increase it every month until you reached maximum level. I stopped at 1.0. I really didn’t notice any weight loss. I was on 5.0 on Muonjaro for a month and I just got the next level pen. Basically these things are doctor prescribed eating disorders. It helps you not eat. And then you start doing stuff like drinking water because it makes you feel full just the same. You just figure out how to eat less and less. It’s not necessarily easy, just easier. I still get hungry.

The way people talk about you’d think it’s some magic bullet. It’s not. Although I’ve never been sick or nauseous from it. Maybe I will be at a higher dose. It’s scary to be excited for that. What does that mean?

I’ve been going to the gym everyday (tons of cardio, very light weight training because I just want to tone) and eating less because this has got to work when I look at how much I am paying. I am down ten lbs to 165, but I wonder if the 150 I was most of my 30s and 40s is doable. Last time I was about 150 was 2017. You basically end up starving yourself with medical help to be skinny. And I wonder if and when I get to 150 will I think 140 would be better. I’m 5’5” btw, so those low numbers are in my healthy range.

by Anonymousreply 121July 17, 2025 9:56 PM

I’m starting mounjaro on Monday!

by Anonymousreply 122July 17, 2025 11:00 PM

R120 here. 8 weeks in on Mounjaro. First month at .25 and second at.5. I’ve lost 22 pounds and feeling great. No side effects at all. Been doing clinical Pilates three times a week and have actually put on some muscle.

by Anonymousreply 123July 18, 2025 2:32 AM

r123, how much more weight do you want to lose?

by Anonymousreply 124July 18, 2025 2:47 AM

About another 8 pounds and I’ll go back to .25 for a while and then stop.

by Anonymousreply 125July 18, 2025 3:43 AM

If you have to do everything on R9’s list you don’t even have to take the drug.

by Anonymousreply 126July 18, 2025 5:37 AM

America filled with slack-faced,skin-dripping, ex-fatties crammed into clothing too young for them sounds worse than the other.

by Anonymousreply 127July 18, 2025 5:40 AM

I feel for you R127. Looking at healthier, happier people must really be a problem for judgmental cunts like you.
