I need some advice. We had some snow this winter, and tracking in the snow and salt has left my floor looking horrible. Do any of you have one of those steam mops to clean floors? Are they worth it? It's either that or call a professional because the duck boot prints on my floors are driving me crazy.

This thread, though not specifically about their care, does have some tips.

How about taking your fucking boots off at the door, OP
You can place a nice absorbent matt under your stool.

R4, R3 is Einstein. He was referring to Matt Damon, who as Ben Affleck knows, can absorb all sorts of liquids.

I I just use Murphy's Oil soap for my bamboo floor. It gives it a gloss. regular sponge mop but try not to get it too wet. Then you have to dry it well. I guess I should invest in a steam mop but I'm too cheap.

There’s vinyl plank in my apartment and I’m not sure what to use to clean it because every website / article seems to claim something different.

Once you've got the hardwood floors cleaned, Scott's Liquid Gold is fantastic for polishing and restoring wood.
I once moved into an apartment with hardwood floors that looked awful and had been poorly treated for years. After used Scott's Liquid Gold, guests kept commenting on how great the floors looked.
