There is a lot of depression that comes with landing a role then nothing. You go from being OMG it's YOU to weren't you that guy? It can he hard on your ego. An actor friend of mine shot himself in the head and I would have never known he was suicidal. He had some commercial work success then hit a dry spell for three years. It is a hard industry to be in.

I know these quotes way upthread, but I just wanted to add to r53's response to r52.Acting, unlike most of any other profession, has a built in end date. Actors are almost constantly looking for another job, The search never ends.

The big 4-0 is a tough one for gays. Also, some gays don't outgrow their party days. They look around the club in their mid-30s and realize THEY are the old-timers. Fortunately, I was smart enough to start dating rich guys in my 30s so it didn't hit me that hard.

Who knows what the factors were. Chronic depression, drug dependency, gay aging syndrome, unemployment. Breakup. Any combo of the above.
