Leslie Charleson's passing was announced on the GH socials.
I know she hadn't been well, but this one hurts.

She was actually a good actress!

So sad. I wonder if Monica will remain on the second floor of the mansion.

I loved her. I watched real old clips of her from when she was on another show when very young. She was always pretty but when really young she was very stunning. The big hair of the time really suited her. I liked the royalty treatment they gave her when she came back to GH for a little while. I never failed to enjoy her when watching. She's right up there with Julia Barr.

How is it that Leslie didn't win an Emmy for the breast cancer story?
Same question I asked about Jackie's passing with BJ's death.

It was rumored for 2-3 years that she was very ill..
Some shitty site had photos of her at lunch with a friend maybe 2-3 months ago?
She had problems walking.
RIP- I always liked her as a kid when I watched GH in the summer-

Predictions for the next two soap actor deaths-Kim Zimmer and Robin Strasser

I'm honestly worried about Viki Sleestack.

Can’t wait for the show to make Monica’s death all about Carly comforting Jason.

Monica's scenes with realEdward were top notch. They NEVER failed to grab you. I loved how he loved her more than his blood children.

Who?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 12, 2025 10:52 PM |
I wonder if they'd be able to do what they did when John Ingle died, and figure out a way to have Monica and Alan reunite in the afterlife.
Deepfake technology being what it is now....and as long as Leslie and Stuart's families approved, I'd be okay with it morally.

Don’t worry - Ellen Holly and Lillian Hayman, brass knuckles at the ready, will be waiting at the pearly gates to give her an appropriate welcome.

Sleestack has more lives than a cat.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 12, 2025 10:59 PM |
I dunno, after her daughter died, she seemed to lose a lot of her light.

I hope they give Monica a grand send off like the character deserves. Something along the lines of Myrtle Fargate on All My Children, They really gave a beautiful, major story line to the actress/character's death.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 12, 2025 11:09 PM |
^^like they did with Bobbie?

R15- I agree. Slezak is in deep mourning. I have my suspicions about Amanda's death and i have a feeling she hid a lot from her parents, so her death was a major shock.

GH has had a genuinely awful year with cast member’s deaths, huh?

We didn't do so hot, either.

Over the next couple of years soap stars who are in their 70s, 80s, and 90s will be dropping like flies.

Leslie's sister was also an actress, she had a supporting role in Terms of Endearment and some other films of the time. I believe she committed suicide at a fairly young age, remember thinking that was very tragic for her.

Iris Donnelly. RIP.
Iris and Laura were the bomb.

r5 Yes, dailymail had a photo of her looking really frail and sick.

Long before Y&R set the youth trend, Love Is A Many Splendored Thing with Leslie as Iris, Ed Power as Spence, Donna Mills as Laura and David Birney as Mark set the tone. John Conboy who was Y&R's original producer, did his first great work on Splendored Thing. The sets were great, Iris and Laura were like Barbie dolls - who could act - and fashion plates. The show was also emotionally involving the same way Y&R was for the first four years, Charleson was really a stand out, Her Iris didn't take any shit from anyone! I wish there were eps of LIAMST out there. Rest in peace beautiful Leslie!

I wonder if she played the first soap opera alcoholic.

A lot of the ones any of us who watched as kids or young'uns in the 80s and 90s will remember.
Shoot, half the remaining living cast of ATWT is over 75. I mean, even Julianne Moore is in her sixties now.

Has anyone checked on Kathy Glass?

I thought she was underrated. I know she did have several Emmy nominations. But, it always annoyed me she never got a lot the praises the more popular soap actresses got.

I had no idea that her sister (who committed suicide in 1996) was Flap's mistress Janice in Terms of Endearment...
Miss!!! Miss!!!
And she has that great line about Emma having feelings that she could "validate"....
