Careerwise, on the surface it’s going to crap, he just had a movie shelved (Lionsgate pulled In the Grey with Jake Gyllenhaal from distribution, it was supposed to open this month), it doesn’t look like Highlander will ever shoot which is probably good because they eliminated the swordfighting for martial arts; and he’s playing the villain in a garbage children’s movie for Amazon. The Razzie shortlist came out yesterday and Argylle was there a couple of times

On the other hand, it is increasingly likely he is Marvel’s new Wolverine and will be in Avengers: Doomsday opposite Jamie Dornan’s Cyclops (Dornan is getting jacked and his trainer is teasing it’s for a secret role.) Doomsday will be a multiverse film so they will probably introduce the Mutants there.

Dornan and Christopher Abbott reportedly both tested with Marvel for Reed Richards but that had to be a bullshit cover because neither can do comedy aside from awkward comedy. They were testing for Marvel’s most autistic superhero.

There is an entire backstory to why they did this.

They also went to the effort to use John Krasinski for Reed Richards. At the time, they hadn't cast Reed Richards yet. But, they didn't end up casting him.

Yes but Krasinski had a series commitment plus he died in his cameo.

Cavill I would be surprised if they did not cast primarily because he has no series commitment (Warhammer only just go picked up for development, it hasn’t been greenlit), the public embraced him in the role, he likes being in superhero movies (many actors do not) and because he has a limited idea of himself as an actor so he’s not going to bitch about doing an X-Men movie a year for ten years. You cast someone like Paul Mescal he’s going to want to get away from Marvel to go work in “serious” movies and let everyone know he’s only doing this for a paycheck. Dornan would also be happy as a clam doing Marvel for a decade since stardom has eluded him post 50 Shades.

Daniel Radcliffe would never be cast because he’s not a name. Wolverine will need a big name post Hugh Jackman.
