'The Traitors UK' season 3
Started yesterday and got huge ratings. People then rushed to BBC iPlayer to watch the second episode, which crashed the servers for a bit.
Casting remains the best out of any (English) version, and this show lives or dies on that. I couldn't finish the second season of Canadian, Australian, and NZ versions because they mostly cast influencers, but the Brits just nail it every time, basically by just casting regular folk from all walks of life.

Alexander was particularly handsome (former British diplomat), but they kicked him out of the carriage even before reaching the castle. Hopefully he returns in a twist at some point.
Kasim is also super cute. He's a doctor though, so he'll probably be gone soon. They already got rid of the diplomat and the Asian with a PhD in comms. Everyone is subconsciously afraid of smart people on these shows.

OMG, the woman who pretended to have a Welsh accent because supposedly people trust regional accents more (wut, I don't think so - people tend to think less of someone with a regional accent) but there was a real Welsh person in there who has been banished already. And the woman with the pretend accent has a ton of suspicion around her too.

R6 Yes, but a celebrity version which isn't as good in my opinion. The UK version has a mix of different kinds of non-celebs plus they don't know anything about each other which makes the chaotic element of that more interesting to watch when they're suddenly dropped into a high-stress situation like that.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 2, 2025 7:33 PM

r5 They actually conduct these accent/dialect studies all the time and it usually comes down to the Welsh and Yorkshire ones. So she had a decent strategy, but like you said, it hasn't helped her one bit. I felt bad about the Welsh translator because you just know she was itching to speak Welsh with someone, and now she's gone.
r6 Yes, The Traitors US (season 3) is coming out soon. If you're asking about the British version, it'll be available on Peacock eventually. Or you can watch it now on BBC iPlayer if you have a VPN.

[quote]Alexander was particularly handsome (former British diplomat), but they kicked him out of the carriage even before reaching the castle.
That was another amazing thing to watch because this 'diplomat' thought he was so clever in offering himself up to leave the train to get other people to offer to leave the train. Some sort of reverse psychology? Well, utterly unsurprisingly everyone was went 'great, ok, go'. No-one else offered to leave. Just shows you what kind of confident people who don't really know anything we have in these positions.

Yeah, I cackled when that other guy said "okay, off you go then!" Brutal, but so funny.
Although Alexander did make him look like a fool just before that by (correctly!) saying that drawing lots is literally the single fairest way to decide who gets kicked out.
Anyway, here's the trailer for the new American season. We have a separate thread for it, which I created back when the cast was revealed.

R12 Yes, I was surprised that none of the carriages drew lots to pick someone. I would have thought that would be the quickest and fairest way to get someone to go.

Oh, and if Alexander were really smart, he'd have pointed out that two of the women in their carriage were sisters and thus prime candidates for one of them getting kicked out! Not ruthless enough and he paid the price for it. So much for being an expert in conflict resolution.

R14 Good point. I am already side-eyeing that one sister clearly knows that something is off with her Traitor sister (Armani) but isn't pushing the issue. They are going to stick together.

r15 And I don't blame her for it! If I had strong suspicions that my sister was a traitor, I'd do everything in my power to throw the scent off her because I'd be safe from murder for as long as she was in the game. Although I've seen people speculating that Armani will sacrifice her eventually if the target on her (Armani's) back gets too big. Which would be crazy, I'd never speak to my sister again if she did that to me. I know it's just a game, but there's also a lot of money attached to that game, so...

I shat on Lisa and Francesca before having seen the third episode and lo and behold, they're both picked to commandeer the boat. Just goes to show, you have to allow this show some breathing space before you start complaining about players being duds. I actually liked both of their talking heads this episode, they can stay. And Francesca is a single mom with four boys? Yikes.
The way Jake and Joe ganghanded my boo Kasim was disgusting, I declare them both DEAD to me! What has his job got to do with anything? Just leave him the fuck alone. (I will say that Joe's glasses look exquisite on a blond guy and I'd like to order a pair for myself.)
I didn't get how Dan was an aspie... until I saw his confrontation with Jake. That was as bad as his mini tiff with Alexander in the premiere.
Man, Armani burned brightly, didn't she? Don't think I've ever seen traitorism going to someone's head as quickly and as strongly as with her. The confidence, henny. When even your sister clocks you and is on the verge of denouncing you publicly, you know you've overdone it.
r27 I like Linda when she's up in the Traitors' Tower, she's kinda dumb otherwise. So many mistakes, starting with that first one right after getting picked as a traitor.

Question about the rules. I believe Traitors are not allowed to reveal fellow Traitors to other players. But can't that be used as a way to confirm who is a Faithful? Like you can prove you're a Faithful by calling every other player a Traitor. A Traitor wouldn't be allowed to do that because it would break the rules.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | January 8, 2025 5:07 AM

The rule does seem to be vague because traitors seem to be allowed to say that they think a traitor is one and vote for one at the round table.
I assume it really means that they aren't allowed to say so when they know they're going to be revealed as a traitor. So that's why past traitors have hinted strongly at it when voted out.

I forgot to mention that there's an easier way than getting a VPN â extended episodes of the Canadian season (*with longer banishment roundtables) are all available on this subreddit, as are all other international versions. And the downloads are super fast, too. Sucks that I only remembered about that sub now that I'm just about finished with the Canadians, it's been one of my favourite seasons. I haven't seen the French/Quebec season yet but I really liked both of the English-language Canadian seasons. (The second season has probably the most clueless group of Faithfuls ever.) I also love Karine Vanasse as the host.
So far, I like most of the UK3 cast, but I wonder about some of the adjustments to gameplay. I thought having everyone be safe from murder on only the second night was too extreme and I don't blame the Traitors for being unhappy with that situation. But then, to follow that with another challenge that left most of the Faithfuls with a shield and the Traitors with the inability to recruit really seems to be skewing the show in the direction of the Faithfuls. If it turns out that the 3 people that left the train are returning, I hope that at least one of them is a Traitor.

Tranna the tranny was wrong from start to finish, it was a sight to behold. But in an entertaining way, not frustrating like Sarah in AUS S2 who just made you want to tear your hair out.
I also like Karine, even though she has the worst taste I think I've ever seen. Negative taste levels, almost. And I know Alan also pulls focus with his outfits on the American show, but his are so gorgeous in comparison. Karine apparently just gets whatever fashion gets rejected by their southern neighbours, it's so bad. Like, Belgian fashion bad.

[quote]really seems to be skewing the show in the direction of the Faithfuls.
I get that, but the fans have often complained that the faithful are too powerless on this show, because your chance of getting to the final if you're a faithful is pretty damn small compared to the traitors. Stuff like shields gives them some of that power back and makes the game more balanced, especially if you're dealing with super dumb faithfuls.

France Season 2 is great! (Haven't seen Season 1.) It features a couple of my favorite players, the host Ăric Antoine is a riot, the location at the ChĂąteau de Val is stunning, and the whole production really plays up the gothic. But if you think the UK casts cry a lot, you better brace yourself for the waterworks on display in France.
A couple other fun seasons I've seen are Norway 2 with a cast made up of all pairs (best friends, colleagues, parent/child, etc.) and Hungary 1 (which is completely bonkers).

Goodbye, my sweet and beautiful Kas, you stood no chance against the racist clique, with Joe the nasty Reform queen being the worst of the bunch and showing zero remorse after the banishment. No wonder he's deactivated his Insta comments, he all but called him Rishi Sunak at the roundtable last episode. Fozia is there all but five minutes and immediately clocks the horrible racism on display.
In similar vein, can Francesca please stop referring to Freddie as a niggle? International audiences are watching this, gurlfriend. Said it like five times in a row, too.
Did you notice how plain Kas' clothes were throughout, despite being a doctor and (I assume) relatively loaded? I loved that, I he's so relatable, I could just EAT this daddy alive!
Dan the aspie rolling his eyes at that turd Joe gave me life.
I probably would have lowered Jack's cage instead of Alexander's, just because he'd be way easier to get rid of. I was secretly rooting for Alexander however, he's easy on the eyes and has nice diction.

I didn't know Claudia was a nepo, all I know is that menopause hit her hard and she looks like a man without those bangs. Here she is in the before times ('90s?).
What I appreciate about her is that she doesn't wear focus-pulling outfits on the show, like Alan Cumming and Karine Vanasse do. Resisting that temptation tells me she isn't a narcissist.
Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 71 | January 9, 2025 7:33 AM

I think Claudia is a really great host. She gets the right balance between being 'serious' without taking it too far like Alan Cumming does in the US version. Even though she speaks well now, it's nothing compared to how she spoke in the 90s (see clip below), where she makes Alexander sound like a chav in comparison.
I was so sad to see the back of Kas. He was just a nice guy and got penalised for it. I hated how they excluded him from discussions and let him leave the room. I know it's only a game, but that doesn't mean the contestants should completely shun someone they suspect of being a traitor. I loved when he wound Joe up in his exit speech - that twat deserved it. Couldn't believe it when he said he was glad he voted for Kas after the speech!
Linda is totally clueless and seems to be surviving just because people think she's too thick to be a traitor. She barely says anything, but I think she'll come under the radar again by making an unguarded comment - or maybe flipping her head when Claudia says "traitors" again.
Minah is in a very strong position at the moment, though. No one suspects her and because she didn't tell anyone (other than Linda) that Alexander gave her a shield she'll no doubt say the traitors probably tried to murder her the night before when there's no banishment. That said, the more clued-up contestants will almost certainly work out that the traitors have recruited when no one gets murdered overnight. I think they'll start gunning for Alexander or Fozia based on nothing other than the fact they're new.
Speaking of Alexander I'm glad he's back. Seems like a nice and intelligent guy, plus he's easy on the eyes, if a little short. That said, I think he'll come under suspicion as they'll use his occupation against him like they did Kas. Army Barbie definitely did the right thing keeping her occupation under wraps.

I can't believe how different Claudia is in those old videos. The vibe is so different. I like the new one though, it has drama and presence.
As for the latest episode of The Traitors, I think it hasn't been as much of a talking point because everyone thought that Kas was going to go and he did.
I thought that Leanne was smart again to target Foiza and show Foiza how much she was going to help her. Part of me was afraid of subconscious racism and sexism again. It seems like certain people go out earlier if you know what I mean.

r72 That voice is crazy. But so is the article because that is NOT the "essence of the '90s" as she sounds incredibly dated already by 1996 standards. Also crazy are the comparisons to Princess Diana, whose weird cadence made her sound decidedly less posh than Claudia in this clip. This is like A.I.-generated RP right here.

Yeah, I'm loving these missions and I'm suddenly not FF'ing through them like in previous seasons because they're finally relevant to the main game. Although I wonder why they cut the card game for the US version, they'll now just nail one of the four into the coffin next week and that'll be that. Maybe the producers thought it didn't work as well as they thought it would? Or that too much was given over to chance?
Livi thought she came to Love Island or something. Watch her on Uncloaked, both she and Tyler are lowkey thick as pig shit, no wonder they gravitated towards each other. People on Reddit have been commenting how much the atmosphere at the roundtable has improved now that they're gone. That's what happens when you break a CLIQUE.
Goodbye, aspie Dan. You had the most perfect-looking Greek nose, but you just couldn't live forever. Once again, weirdly plain clothes for someone who works as a bank risk manager. Do only bankers and doctors in London dress expensively?
[quote]Leon and Foiza were so bad at giving away what the card was by their faces.
Fozia â and to an extent, Leon â wanted to convey the opposite emotion of what she was feeling (i.e. she thought she was bluffing), but that's not what poker is about. You don't pantomime your reactions because those that do actually play poker will know exactly what you're trying to achieve.
Speaking of those that clearly do play poker, Alexander is so damn goofy. And pretty swishy when he walks, too. He a homo or something?
Non-binary Alex remains a complete non-entity. Which probably means they'll reach the finale.

The card game was weird. Even though Claudia said that a Traitor could be amongst the players, how would that work? Wouldn't they be in danger of ending up with the Death cards? It seems to me that the people chosen for the card game will be granted "Faithful" status by the rest. Along with several other maneuvers by the producersâlike adding 3 more participants, not a single one of which was a Traitorâit looks like they desperately want the Faithful to win this season.

While I had the same thought as you R82, the traitors had no idea what the task was going to be. So they still could have opted to send one of them in. But yeah if I was the other faithful Iâd think the four sent to play the game were not traitors.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | January 13, 2025 6:38 AM

Logically, the Traitors should immediately recruit one of the survivors.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | January 13, 2025 8:58 AM
|
I also don't understand how a traitor could have been part of the death card game, unless there was some way the traitors could cheat to ensure they'd win a round.
But then we don't know what will happen at the start of the next episode - ie will the traitors choose who to murder out of the final two? In which case, if there was a traitor at that stage, they'd have to choose the remaining faithful to murder.
I think they might recruit Alexander given he's newer than the rest and hence hasn't formed the same bonds with the other contestants. Plus the suspicion hasn't landed on him yet. I think some of them will start saying at least one of the new entrants must be a traitor and then if Fozia is murdered, that only leaves Alexander.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | January 13, 2025 9:31 AM

The Faithfuls don't seem very clever though. For example, why did Anna turn down being recruited as a traitor? It keeps you safe from being murdered so there's an advantage there.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | January 13, 2025 9:35 AM
|
She thought she would be used as a patsy, diverting attention from the longstanding Traitors, which , to be fair, was what they were planning.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | January 13, 2025 9:48 AM
|
R87 Well, as Anna said herself, it was pretty clear the traitors wanted to use her as a sacrifical lamb - given many of the faithful had been gunning for her at the roundtable immediately prior to the recruitment offer.
Minah even said herself that the faithful needed to given another traitor to boost morale and also to take the heat off her and Linda.
Yes bieng a traitor stops you from being murdered, but nothing can stop you being banished and she didn't want to get banished then get up there and say she was a traitor, because they'd all assume she'd been a traitor all along which would vindicate them.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | January 13, 2025 9:51 AM
|
I meant to add that - by the time Anna was made the offer - it was pretty clear she felt she was going to get banished regardless.
So it's easy to see why she preferred to leave as the faithful she'd always been and not as a traitor.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | January 13, 2025 9:53 AM

They are pretty useless at gauging who the traitors are though, I would still take the recruitment every time.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | January 13, 2025 9:55 AM

The reasoning behind it was sound, but wanting to recruit Anna was Minah's one major mistake so far. If it were done earlier in the game, it would probably have worked, but Anna got too attached at that point. When she said "I want to leave with integrity" I thought to myself, wouldn't you rather leave with the money instead? You know, the whole reason you applied to this gameshow? Why is the approval of these people you've known for like a week that important to you? I swear the British contestants get crazy attached to each other compared to other English versions.
Also, people are making fun of her for saying that the traitors have been gunning for her since day one. She is right in a sense because her name was floated at the very start â Minah mentioned something about her big beautiful eyes watching her and that she was afraid she'd eventually see through her bullshit.

Six episodes last week, four this week, and only one next week. I hate the way they get you hopped up on this stuff, then take it away, it's borderline inhumane. We need this show now more than ever, it should be filmed year-round!
Anyway, Jack had the most perfect-looking teeth. He's a landscaper, so I doubt they were veneers. I bet he gets cast on these reality shows all the time based on his teeth alone. And the redneck mullet tells me he's crazy in the sack.
Having said that, I'm glad we got Fozia and Alexander instead, Jack seemed about as bright as Tyler. I'd just like to point out that all three people in the cage were allowed to enter the game in the US version, so I don't know why this wasn't an option here as well.

I usually cheer for the faithful, but this season Iâm fully Team Traitors - I donât think weâll ever see a traitor so scarily good at the social game as Harry was in season 2, but Minah is a very shrewd and likeable player and living meme factory Linda is like the personification of âdumb baby boomer luckâ as she blunders hilariously along surviving round after round despite a complete lack of skill.
The faithful this year are less likeable in the aggregate than previous seasons - I find them tetchy and rather cowardly. More than Alexander, I think Fozia is the stronger late addition, but I suspect sheâs not long for the game.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | January 13, 2025 6:23 PM

If Fozia survives the cards game, she'll take out Linda at the very next roundtable, I feel this so strongly.
And she *should* survive because Leon brings very little to the game, let's be real. He's like Alex in that sense. (I know, I know, it might just be the editing.)

In addition to Leon and Alex, Iâd add Lisa as another âdudâ faithful, R100. Youâd think a murder mystery-obsessed member of the clergy would at the very least have some interesting takes on what makes the different personality archetypes in the castle tick, but she seems completely out the sea. Foziaâs the closest thing we have to a Miss Marple in this group.
I like Francesca and think she might have the stuff to emerge as a strong faithful - and I love all her outfits. I have to admit I hope they keep Anna around for a while yet because I love all her terrible Gen Z getups.

r103 No way in hell is Jennifer Saunders doing this, or any of the others you mentioned. I'd be shocked if they scored even one of those. Okay, maybe Daley the attention whore. Those would all be huge, huge gets; so much bigger than what Celeb Big Brother ever managed to land.
On the other hand, I just saw Hiddleston raving about this show on Graham Norton the other day, so people are clearly watching the shit out of this (up yours, r102), which means it's a bigger draw for celebs than usual.

American celebs randomly appearing on British reality shows is an established tradition at this point â Tiffany Pollard on CBBUK gave us one of the greatest reality moments ever when David Bowie died. You also have to bear in mind that many washed-up American celebs still command substantial star power abroad.
I find it more strange when the opposite happens. For example, Lord Ivar Mountbatten is currently on the American version of The Traitors and John Bercow, former Speaker of the House of Commons, appeared on the previous season.

I wonder how comedians like Jennifer Saunders and Alan Carr would do on the British celeb version. Would they be joking around all the time and treating it as the gameshow that it is, or would they become emotionally entangled as everyone eventually seems to if they stay in long enough? (Aspies and sociopaths notwithstanding.) Surely players would jump down their throats if they didn't start taking roundtable banishments seriously after a certain point? I kinda want to see that now.

Another interesting thing I found is that Linda wrote the same distinctive way she writes during the round table on that painting. So, it seems unlikely, but if someone spots that...
Linda is comedy central the way she gets away with being obvious like this.
I'm in my 40s and I remember being taught to write my zs like that. Most people ditch it though.
Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 128 | January 14, 2025 6:13 PM

Yeah, I've seen people pointing that out, but I really think the producers removed that painting that same evening. It was basically a prop for a (mini) task and they always remove props after missions are complete. Plus, it would be really underhanded from them to stitch her up like that without giving her a heads up first.
I do love how much unintentional comedy material she provides though. I honestly hope she stumbles into a win, like Meryl did.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | January 14, 2025 6:34 PM

Why would they require a traitor to write on a painting if they were going to immediately remove this "prop" afterwards? It feels like they were hoping someone would see her doing it and investigate afterwards. I guess we'll see if that painting is still there in the following episodes.

Offsite Linkby Anonymous | reply 131 | January 14, 2025 6:51 PM

They had this same task (but without the cards) on the American version last week and the traitors had to use a little secret room next to the bar (that everyone can go into if they want) and write the four shortlisted names down on some scrolls, then place the scrolls inside the small coffin props. The British show doesn't use this secret room and so they had the traitors write the names down on a portrait instead. It's basically just to kill time and make it appear through the editing tricks that they might get caught at any moment. In other words, it's a fresh little spin on them simply writing the names down in the Traitors' Turret, I doubt the producers intended anything beyond that.
But yes, we'll see. I feel like people want Linda to fail so badly, they shit on her at every turn.

Great acting is a rarity among opera singers. And in fairness, it isn't even needed â people come for the voice, not subtle facial expressions.
r101 Agreed about Lisa, she ran her mouth during the audition process, but is now a damp squib in the game itself. She also told Alan she had no qualms about being a traitor, then told (lied?) to the group that she could never be a traitor because she's an ordained priest, then lied in the gunking challenge in the very next episode because it suited her.
I've only ever had experience with Catholic priests, but the Anglican ones don't seem that far behind in the hypocrisy department. Geraldine Granger, she ain't.

I'm really beginning to struggle with this season, most of these people are either outright unpleasant or duds being worshipped for no apparent reason (Leon).
Joe's comment about having to exert himself, only for the coffin to contain Alexander, was horrible. I hate everything about him â his face, his hair, his voice... He's a mean gay. Not even witty mean, just mean.
Speaking of monstrous cunts, Leanne showed her ass tonight, took me right back to high school. Didn't know they made lesbians this way, too. I'm sorry, but anyone who spends that much time making their face look borderline CG can't be right in the head.
Nastiest cast yet. And now they're going to revert to their Pol Pot strategy of killing intellectuals, which means Alexander is on borrowed time. And he's isolated again, just like Kas before him. Kinda glad it's ending this week, I'm using the American show as a palate cleanser at this point.

The American season has been awesome so far and it's doing great in the ratings as well â premiere up 67% compared to last season. Yesterday's episode featured one of the greatest roundtables of all time.
As for this latest episode, Alex had a lengthy confessional towards the start about wanting to create a family, so I knew he was a goner.
Fuck Joe, man. I break out in hives at this point every time he opens his mouth and that fucking vocal fry comes out.
So glad Anna is gone, she legit thought she was in Guntanamo. Her traitor reveal with Alex on Uncloaked was cute, though.
Alexander is single, but is he available for women, men, or both? That remains THE question of this season. He'll be drowning in tail soon, that's for sure, everyone online is thirsting after his charming goofy ass.
Is something wrong with Jake's right hand? It's like he can't extend it fully when he's walking, makes him look like a spider. Maybe it's from all that soccer because that's how they keep them folded when they run and dribble.

Fucking Joe, what a nasty piece of work. If you exerted yourself in that mission as much as Freddie and Alexander did, perhaps *then* you'd have some basis to complain. It's interesting that everyone with their heads on the statues got the shields in the American version, but only one player here.
Lisa finally gets activated at the roundtable and immediately gets murdered for it. I love that for her.
Leon in the confessional saying they won't even know what they're missing if they banish him. Um, like what exactly? Not a single interesting comment or fun moment from him in ten episodes of the show. Boring as fuck and a dud of a player, a worse combination than Joe even.
Most of the Traitors subreddit is just people lusting after Alexander at this point. I'd love to play badminton with him, then make out in those glorious azalea bushes afterwards. I need him to win this whole thing.
r160 Easy to chide from the future! Yes, they did the palsy reveal an episode after I mentioned his arm. If I had a Main Character Syndrome like Leanne and Joe, I'd probably say it was a conspiracy on the part of the producers to make ME in particular look bad. But I don't have MCS, so I'll just chalk it up to bad luck. Also, I suspect he's the one who's been murdered.

This season is a telling look at British class dynamics - especially the way that adorable, obviously upper middle class Alexander just canât win with a lot of his fellow players.
I think itâs funny that the decidedly non-PC emerging theme of this season seems to be that working class people are, more often than not, sourpusses and blowhards who get above themselves the minute you put a camera on them. Itâs like the producers are actively encouraging me to roll my eyes every time someone starts self-righteously squawking in a broad regional accent.

Interesting point, you can see that not even Leanne the soldier can escape the public scorn. Though I doubt this sort of casting was intentional â her mean girl streak likely wasn't evident during the casting process, nor was Joe's relentless cuntiness. And Mountbatten is still awful on the American show.

As much as I like Minah, I think sheâs made a big tactical error in picking Charlotte. I think her instincts were bang on that Charlotte is the most temperamentally suited person in the cast to being a traitor - the woman is faking an accent seemingly just for a lark(!) - but having been constantly targeted by Armani confident but artless play right out of the gate, sheâs built up the most unimpeachable faithful credentials out of anyone there besides Jake.

Alexander is gonna score himself a princess at this rate, half of the nation is thirsting after him.
Speaking of, here's actual historical footage of Alexander the Great, all parched after sacking Persepolis. So pretty.

He'll be on Strictly and Bake Off soon enough, I'm sure. The people demand it!
He seems to be the only one in there â along with the traitors â who's aware he's on a gameshow and so is keeping things professional. It must help that he's worked in conflict zones and has some sense of perspective as a result, the other normies have probably never gone through something as intense as this.

What's strange about that comment? I just noted that she paused. She left the military after the show wrapped filming, so she must have been thinking about doing it when she was on the show.

I'm not enjoying this season as much as the last. I think it's partly all the bickering. I know each season has arguments, but this year more of those arguments have got personal than previously (unless I'm just imagining it).
Joe and Leanne are the worst and have got worse as the season has progressed. Like on a recent episode where Leanne got wind people were calling her selfish for taking her own statue up the hill, she was on the hunt for the perpetrator and was spoiling for a massive argument. It's like she takes being accused of being a traitor as a personal affront, despite it being the point of the game. That said, maybe it's helping her as a traitor is unlikely to be so combative as they don't like drawing more attention to themselves than is necessary.
Alexander is adorable in contrast, though. Handsome, charming, respectful, intelligent, etc. Which means he's probably not far from getting kicked out. The jury's out on his orientation, though. At first I thought he was gay, but now I'm not so sure. I like how Claudia called out that he was single and said "who are you?!" after he'd charged up the hill with multiple statues. Most of the nation adores him. Please let him win it!

I love this season for the sociological aspect. Never have I seen a show that captures so much about UK norms.
-Anyone who is perceived as too educated or too push is in trouble, and thatâs why I donât think Alexander will make it with his RP accent and diplomat credentials despite being my personal fave. Kas was also victim to the bucket of crabs mentality.
-Anyone who is too full on or authoritative is in trouble like Armani, Nathan and when Tyler went from a âladâ to trying to exert influence.
-Brits love eccentrics until they donât. Dan was hypocritically kicked out for being too obvious playing the game to win. Elen for being too reserved or shy.
-Leanne is smart for downplaying her background. Sheâs playing into stereotypes about looks and supposed occupation that wonât make her seem like a threat. Charlotte putting on the regional accent isnât a bad idea either.
-Joe exemplifies the negative and bitter energy found in many people especially teachers!
Minah may have miscalculated with Charlotte who could outplay her.
My favourite part of the season was the complete obliteration of the clique (also notice how all the younger people used the American pronunciation of âcliqueâ probably due to social media influence). Well played Freddie. Looking forward to the last few episodes.

R179 Are they just UK norms, or western norms? I'm from the UK and have never lived anywhere else so I'm probably too close to make an accurate assessment.
I agree with your comment about Alexander. When Leanne was accusing him of being "patronising" I was thinking she probably wanted to follow it up with an insult along the lines of "you posh twat", but she obviously wouldn't say that on TV. I just felt as though her overreaction was as much to do with who was saying it as it was to do with what they were saying.
That said, in some ways Leanne is being slightly snobby herself, because by saying she's a nail technician she's essentially saying: "well, they're a bit thick and airheaded, aren't they? So pretending to be an idiot is a good move".
by Anonymous | reply 180 | January 20, 2025 9:17 AM

R180 - I partially see your point about western norms as thereâs been a steady growth of anti-intellectualism and distrust of experts across the board due to the shambles of social media.. However, tall poppy syndrome still seems more prevalent in the UK compared to letâs say North America. Kasimâs Harold Shipman line was an absolutely brilliant view on this. I died laughing.
Good take about Leanne playing into the snobby factor herself. Both she and Joe use almost aggression to shut people down. Leanne knows this and called herself âsassyâ to describe it. The tactic seems to work as few dare to question them as potential traitors at the round table. I like how Alexander instantly negated Joeâs attack by saying he was tired from carrying up the hill three statue bases. Alexanderâs likely posh true. He said heâd give his winnings to charity like he didnât personally need it. Iâm sure the other contestants noticed that. Alexander probably wonât win the show itself, but he will benefit most in the long-term from the show because he has an âit factorâ and is most liked by the public.
Looking forward to tonightâs episode!

If Leanne tells everyone that she only told Charlotte, Frankie and whoever the other person is, wouldn't Freddie work out that Charlotte set him up? But then again, not sure what he can do given he made an oath not to reveal a traitor and they've changed the rules for the final too.

He or Alexander could both say it was a set-up without revealing Charlotte specifically was a Traitor. They just say it doesn't prove anything one way or another. Then he starts to stir against Charlotte.

That end game: I kept thinking that they were being disingenuous: I think that they really got rid of as many players as they could to potentially get more money for themselves (and be more likely to eliminate traitors).
I did laugh when Claudia said 'I can't wait when you find out when Charlotte is from'. (No-one cares.)

I feel like producers overcomplicated things with the addition of the seer. And then when Frankie and Charlotte were going at each other with different versions of events... it started to go from a fun reality show into something a bit darker.

Charlotte was a terrible Traitor who made repeated bad decisions. She could have kept Freddie on board as an easy endgame casualty, they could have murdered Jake, breaking his firm alliance with Leanne; got Leanne on board to banish Alexander and ended up 2 Traitors to 2 Faithful in the 'special power' scenario, which Freddie might still have won. Solo win for Charlotte!
by Anonymous | reply 200 | January 25, 2025 9:45 AM

I hadn't realised that there was going to be one more banishment, where Freddie was able to 'signal' that it was Charlotte. Which does make Charlotte's decision to alienate Freddie strange and stupid. If she kept him sweet, he'd be less likely to want to drop her in it.
by Anonymous | reply 201 | January 25, 2025 9:53 AM

She was ridiculously short-sighted and overconfident. Minah would have won easily from that position.

Being a traitor definitely went to Charlotte's head. She recruited Freddie to immediately stab him in the back - presumably because she wanted all the money herself and didn't think she needed anyone's help.
If she'd told Freddie she knew Leanne had the shield and murdered Jake, both of them would have been easily to lie their way out of it. Then if he won the seer contest, he'd have picked Charlotte and came back saying she was a faithful.
I thought the ending was shit. Leanne was fucking annoying the entire way through. Any time anyone accused her she acted like they'd insulted her terribly and became immediately defensive. She and Charlotte DID have a whispered conversation which understandably made Alexander suspicious that maybe they were two traitors plotting, but rather than just saying something like "I can see why that might look suspcious, but neither of us knew who to trust so we just kept our voices down" she immediately flew into a rage and took issue with how Alexander's phrasing of the "type" of whispering. Cue the nation eye rolling.
Then her choosing to vote out Frankie after she'd pretty much sworn on her children's lives was low. I'm not even sure Leanne thought Frankie was a traitor, she probably just wanted more money and seemed 99% sure Jake was a faithful as he seemed a bit too thick to be a successful traitor by the final.

She was also an idiot. She should have known Frankie was genuine enough that when she gave her word as a mum sheâd believe she really was a Faithful. I guess her paranoia wouldnât allow it. Or maybe she and Jake had made a private deal to get rid of the others so it would be just them splitting the money.
by Anonymous | reply 205 | January 25, 2025 6:08 PM

Leanne and Jake obviously had an understanding, maybe never spelled out, ti split the money and jettison the middle class Faithful, who by definition didn't 'need' or 'deserve' the money.

R206 class group allegiance won the day, youâre right. Whatâs interesting is Frankie tried to play motherhood group allegiance with Leanne to screw over Alexander and Jake, but Leanne double-crossed her. Class trumps all, and Leanne and Jake jettisoned the people they knew were faithful to get a larger share of the final pot. Alexander was truly doomed the moment he said he wanted to give his winnings to charity.

I don't think that's the reason Alexander was doomed. I think that it's because he came in late and often one of those people are made a traitor. He had one or two weird moments that made people suspicious.

Hearing that constantly drove me crazy. Um, maybe because the Traitors can only murder ONE person a night and they thought someone else was much more important than you? Freddie's mum gave an interview.. she was very uncomfortable and seemed slightly annoyed with the infamous shower scene of him, so I guess the chances of him ever doing anything saucier are out the window.
I think he'd be smart to go the Rylan route and try to get into tv presenting or something similar. It can be a more lucrative avenue than politics, which I think he will struggle with given he made it clear he doesn't like to lie. And he is likeable and telegenic enough and with a bit of a profile now that it wouldn't be hard to get his foot in the door. Also now he is at 100k followers on instagram the approaches to endorse things will come and he will discover that world is much easier and more fun than politics.

Freddie's mum has no one but her son's fame-hungry bussy to be angry at, he's the one who chose the nature of his B-roll, with predictable results I mentioned at r18.
He very clearly prefers instant fame to years and years of slaving away at local politics before, if ever, getting into parliament. His nature is clearly too soft/human for politics and I just assume he doesn't have that many (nepo) connections you need to make it in that world anyway. In short, he doesn't have the range!
