I started getting sick 12/24, went to bed at 9 pm and spent all day Xmas in bed with fever and aches. Didn't care if I died. I'm still draining and hacking up shit.
Is the new flu strain going round or just creeping crud from coworkers?

Forgot to add the fatigue is dragging on and on too.

Yep. I thought it was another bout of Covid. A lot of people sick with this right now. Cancelled New Year's Eve plans. Sleeping a lot.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 31, 2024 4:53 PM |
Flu can be diagnosed, you should get it checked out. Flu A in April 2022 knocked me on my ass much harder than either covid episode did.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 31, 2024 4:53 PM |
I must be getting it from my doctor. He said he had sinus problems and his wife made him sleep on the couch the night before.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 31, 2024 5:05 PM |
I got it in midNovember and still have some chest congestion.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 31, 2024 5:07 PM |
3 of my friends had it earlier this month - no exaggeration, they said it's the sickest they've ever been.
I had something last week - but did 2 flu and COVID tests and negative for both. So it may not be the flu. Just a really bad cold virus.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 31, 2024 5:08 PM |
Covid is surging, cases have tripled in the past few weeks. Whooping cough and norovirus are worse than they've been in 10 years.
But no worries, RFK Jr is coming in to save us!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 31, 2024 5:10 PM |
I caught the cold but not from fucking, OP.
Perhaps you should stay out of the zoo.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 31, 2024 5:11 PM |
Had a bad bout of bronchitis, with high fever and all, which was preceded by dry coughing and now I still have a lingering dry cough.
Tested negative for covid.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 31, 2024 5:15 PM |
I've been phlegmy since November. No fever, but tired a lot.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 31, 2024 5:18 PM |
I have it. I was sure it was Covid, but I tested negative twice. The pressure in my head ears is brutal.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 31, 2024 5:46 PM |
Per R/nursing, Flu A is running rampant right now.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 31, 2024 5:50 PM |
I haven't had a cold or flu in at least 10 years. I haven't thrown up in 20+ years. I wonder if that means something.

I try to help people who are real horny.

I started getting the trots about 2 hrs ago.

I've been blowing my nose like it was hayfever season for about a week but as of this morning I have a nagging tickle in the throat. I know where this is going. No smoking weed for me tonight.
Husband started sneezing yesterday (so freakishly loud I have to remind myself it's part of his charm) and just went out for more tissues.
This might be our escape from a dull party at my sister's.

Since I retired I haven't been sick. People who have little kids catch stuff from them and then pass it around at work. That's what I've experienced in the past.

Pneumonia has been hitting my workplace hard this fall/winter.
Young people are catching it in greater numbers than old geezers, too.
It’s really scary. Nearly everyone I know or work with has had some sort of snotty crud. Either covid, pneumonia or a persistent, hacking dry cough.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 31, 2024 6:51 PM |
It’s a great day to be on the floor naked.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 31, 2024 6:51 PM |
I had it on Christmas Eve, too. I started getting sick the day before. All that got me through it was painkillers otherwise Christmas would have went on with me in bed. I woke up today with a horrible sore throat and pink eye. This shit has lingered and I just don't have any energy at all. Body aches were hell. Christmas was hard to get through. I even forgot today is New Years eve, and I don't care. I'm not cooking or cleaning. I told them to order Chinese food.

I was sick for at least 6 weeks in Oct/Nov before finally seeing a doctor for a cough that would not go away. I was diagnosed with bronchitis and given antibiotics. Was back to normal in about a week.
Sick again now with something different - a combination of a cold and the flu. I’m not sure if we can still get Covid tests here in Ontario. I’m pretty sure I have some form of that. I’m tired of feeling sick.

R22 your bronchitis sounds a lot like mine. Still a bit of a lingering dry cough, I reckon?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 31, 2024 6:57 PM |
There are a lot of people at my workplace who got sick around Christmas.

OP, for once it *isn't* just you!
--------------------
Illnesses like COVID-19, influenza and RSV have spread across the population in the past few weeks, as millions of Americans gathered for the holidays. The spread of these illnesses poses a serious threat to public health and is a significant concern following the global coronavirus pandemic that erupted in 2020.
This past Friday, the CDC reported a "high" level of respiratory illness activity in the U.S., the second-highest level behind "very high." This can include COVID-19, the flu, RSV (or respiratory syncytial virus) or even the common cold.
COVID-19 activity has been increasing "in most areas of the country," with high levels of the virus found in wastewater. Emergency department visits for cases of the virus remained low but were rising. The CDC predicts that the virus will continue to spread in the coming weeks, as it has in previous winters.

I've got the boogie woogie flu.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 31, 2024 7:49 PM |
Congestion, body aches and then, diarrhea. Keep yourselves hydrated.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 31, 2024 8:18 PM |
I thought I was well from the congestion, body aches, low grade fever. Then a few good days and came the diarrhea and return of low grade fever (~99.1). Ibuprophen let me sleep and took care of the fever. Immodium for the d. Now I think I'm well, but not sure if I had two things or one.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 31, 2024 8:56 PM |
Thats what I've wondered is it 2 things or one. Now I'm sick again. I've not taken any anti biotic although I have them. Omnicef, but I hate getting a yeast infection. Sorry for being gross.

2 friends got diagnosed with Covid on 12/24-25, and I'm so happy I didn't get it, because one of them hugged me (a friend died on 12/23) on 12/23. The hugger got it really bad too.

I've had it since the week before Christmas. Fever, weakness, chills...I went to Urgent Care and was negative for Adenovirus DNA Rslt (ADVRES), FLU A RNA Result (FLARES), FLU B RNA Result (FLBRES),Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Babesia Species, Covid/SARS, Lyme A/B, Paraflu Type 1 Rslt (PF1RES), Paraflu Type 2 (PF2RES), Paraflu Type 3, Paraflu Type 4 , Rhinovirus RNA Rslt (RVRES), Metapneumovirus RNA, RSV, pneumococcal pneumonia.
I've been feeling OK except really tired since recovering from symptoms.

I caught the Adneovirus and Rhinovirus from my niece and ended up getting pneumonia to top it off. I was throwing up, had a high fever, coughing, and had diarrhea. It sucked. Lots of kids at her school had something similar. Hope you feel better
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 1, 2025 1:36 AM |
Last week I was very sick for 2 days: feverish, intense chills, diarrhea, fatigue and I threw up once. I do have the flu vaccine, I wonder if this was my body fighting the flu off?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 1, 2025 1:38 AM |
Mine started on Friday. My nose isn't runny, and I can smell and taste. But I feel feverish and tired, and if I start coughing, I can't stop, making it hard to breathe.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 1, 2025 1:39 AM |
I've had general runny nose, post-nasal drip, trouble swallowing, fatigue for almost three weeks. It's gotten marginally better, but I'm still not 100%.
