I like Madonna and her music, but sexy she was/is not.
And the harder she tried to be sexy, the less sexy she became. She was trying way too hard.
Face it, if you have to club people over their heads with your alleged sexiness, you're not sexy.

The pulchritude and scorching sensuality of Sharon Stone was and is unrivaled in Hollywood history.
Madonna’s controversial jealousy of Sharon was more than understandable as the Material Girl was not only devoid of the thespian skills of Oscar-nominated Sharon, but she worked embarrassingly hard to achieve just a sliver (tee, hee) of what Sharon exuded naturally.
From talent to beauty to the elusive it factor of superstardom, there is no question who reigns supreme in Hollywood and who Madonna can only futilely dream of equaling,
That eternal starlet - that eternal beauty - is Sharon Stone.

She’s so cheap and needy. A real step backward for women as musical artists striving to be taken seriously. People infused all her backward qualities with empowerment mystique when the bald truth was she was a materialistic whore. She had her charms as a fashion icon, but I felt she was rather a one trick pony. Now she’s the desperate, scary thing that was always lurking behind the image.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 28, 2024 11:57 PM |
No she wasn't. She really was just a performer looking to elicit reaction with all of her provoking theatrics. That doesn't equal sexy.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 29, 2024 12:00 AM |
Madonna made some of the best pop music of all time and really shook things up, she was a shot in the arm to the music industry and pop culture. She was openly sexual in a way no other female performer had ever been.
Also, she was instrumental in formulating the acceptance of gays in society, whether you like her or not.

R26, Who wins out of Sharon and Madonna to you?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 29, 2024 1:35 AM |
Not R26, but IMO, in the '80s and '90s, Madonna was better-looking and had a better body, even though short. She had the je ne sais quois. Sharon was pretty in a generic way.
NOW, I'd rather look like Sharon Stone, of course.
However, IMO, Madonna was probably always jealous of Sharon's acting career.

R33, what don't you like about Madonna's looks?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 29, 2024 4:18 AM |
I have nothing I don't like about Madonna's looks.
But just because you bleach and cut your hair in a similar style and try to approximate/mimic makeup style does NOT mean they look alike.
For one, their facial shapes are completely different. Madonna has a more square and angular face shape from Marilyn, who has an more oval, softer face shape. The proportions and placement of their features were also very different as well.
Their eyebrow placement is different, not to mention how thick Madonna's was compared to Marilyn's. Mouth shape was different too. Madonna's eyes were much larger compared to Marilyn's as well.
In short, many women have had hair/makeup over the years to mimic Marilyn's, but few have come close to looking like her. Honestly, Madonna has a much sharper, more ethnic and bolder look, whereas Marilyn had a softer and more sultry face - definitely had that "just well-fucked" look. And yes, I know that Marilyn had various cosmetic surgeries to reshape her features, but this isn't the point. The point is that Marilyn and Madonna DON'T look like each other. Again, you can try to duplicate hair and makeup, but that doesn't equate to looking the same.

I can tell you that I don't think they look especially similar.

by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 29, 2024 4:49 AM |
I couldn't give you an answer, r40, because I find many women beautiful and have no type.
For instance, in her Bollywood heyday, Aishwarya Rai was exceedingly beautiful (and still is, in my opinion). I also have always found Michelle Pfeiffer is beautiful as well. Eva Green is another woman I find beautiful.
I don't really have a one that I can say is THE most beautiful woman ever.

Famke Janssen as well.

Deeper and Deeper was and remains one of her underrated songs.
People got the icks with the SEX book, the Erotica album and that movie she did with Willem Dafoe all coming out at once. Australian Cosmopolitan had a sealed section with an extract of SEX. Most people talked about how crazy they thought she was after seeing it.

by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 30, 2024 1:54 AM |
Della,
Deeper & Deeper was a HUGE flop!
Out of the Billboard Top 100 it only reached a measly #7.
Everyone knows Top 10 songs are total flops and can really sink a career.
How embarrassing for Madonna to only hit #7 in the middle of a huge backlash and a time when R&B and Grunge were big business.
Perhaps if this disco song had only reached #82 or maybe even hit the Top 75 it would have been a hit, right R57?

by Anonymous | reply 96 | January 1, 2025 6:13 PM |
r96 that's false. She's written or co-written many of her songs. People who have worked with her have praised her songwriting abilities.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | January 1, 2025 8:15 PM |
Okay, r97, you believe that.
I don't believe that she wrote or co-wrote the majority of her older hit songs, on the whole. Why? Because she was powerful enough that songwriters would cede some of the writing credit to her in exchange for her using the song. I've read it here countless times over the years and it tracks with my opinion of her and other things known about her.
The only one I believe she had any significant input into is the one about New York where she wrote something along the lines of other places making her feel like a dork.
Now that she has firmly placed her focus on making toilet videos and abusing mind-altering substances, who knows how her songs are created?
Enjoy your day.
