I wonder if Swampyass and Muskyass are looking at programs like Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program. Under the TFW, companies can recruit foreign workers into jobs they claim are hard to fill in Canada under the guise of building Canada’s population base (you can eventually get citizenship). The federal government subsidizes employers, and I think because employees are classified as “temporary”, employers can basically screw them over. Lots of horror stories about not paying benefits and overtime. You even see companies post for TFWs to fill jobs like hotel cleaners by requiring things like a degree. If you’re a foreigner who owns a business, it’s a great way to bring family over. A lot of stories of the system being abused at the expense of hiring local. But you know who’d benefit from a program like this? Tech billionaires who’d have a workforce subsidized by the government. It’s a scam. Maybe MAGATs are about to find out.
