he became one of the most sought-after figures behind the scenes of pop music in the 1970s and ’80s, and dated Jane Fonda from 2009 to 2017.
If I’m not mistaken he gave Jabba her last hit with her sample if You’re so Vain.

He was a terrific producer. He helped the Pointer Sisters with their eighties sound, which was highly successful.

IIRC, he produced a well received album for Martha Reeves. Unfortunately, it tanked.

I appreciate that he and Fonda were close, but he should have drawn the line at sharing her hair stylist.

He took Barbra down the Stoney End. She never wanted to go.

Barbra had been planning on doing another album at the time called The Singer and Clive asked her to put it aside to consider working with this new, young producer Richard Perry. They met, and hit it off immediately. Everybody was saying, ‘Well, how are you going to get along with her?’ Richard said, ‘Two Jews from Brooklyn, you can’t go far wrong.’

Speaking of Phil Spector, he was on the plane with The Beatles for their first trip to America. Not a fan of flying, he said he just knew that plane wasn't going to crash.

“I liked Richard from the moment we met. He was tall and lanky, with a mop of dark, curly hair and a big smile, which his big heart,” Streisand wrote in her memoir. “At our first meeting, he arrived laden with songs, and we listened to them together. Whatever hesitation I may have felt about our collaboration soon vanished and I thought, ‘This could be fun, and musically liberating.’”

R6 Well, unlike Phil, his touch never became so heavy handed that it overwhelmed the actual song.

I agree that is a great album he did with Diana, R22. Especially the cuts “Gettin’ Ready For Love,” “Too Shy To Say,” “Confide In Me,” and “The Same Love That Made Me Laugh.”

Agree R22 and R23, and I especially loved this song.

Barbra comments:
Richard had an uncanny ability to pick the hits, and most important to me, a wonderful sense of humor. We had such fun in the studio…and we became really good life-long friends.
We worked together on two albums, Stoney End and Barbra Joan Streisand, where he encouraged me to record contemporary songs. It was exciting to explore that kind of material with him. By the way, Richard thought Laura Nyro's “Stoney End” would be a hit for me, and I thought he was nuts! I was so happy to be proven wrong!
He was a truly special person and I’m so grateful our paths crossed.
