Let's revisit the 2017 film Lady Bird

The movie helped launch the careers of Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, Lucas Hedges, and DL fave Beanie Feldstein. It was the directorial debut for Greta Gerwig and featured a stellar performance by Laurie Metcalf, per usual.

The movie was nominated in various categories across all the awards shows and was one of the first hits for A24.

Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird's father (Tracy Letts) loses his job. Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, amidst a rapidly shifting American economic landscape, Lady Bird is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.

Ratboy’s careeer launched because he fucked his agent and played gay on screen.

Bullshit. Saoirse Ronan was starring in major studio movies a decade before this piece of shit.

I loved it.

But I can't remember a thing about it.

OP - It didn't launch Lucas Hedges' career.

The previous year he was in Manchester by the Sea and received an Oscar nomination for his performance.

It completely eluded me. I had no idea what the story was supposed to be, to the point that when my extra large Diet Coke needed letting out, I went to take care of business during what turned out to be the final scene. The performances were good, but in service to what? I was totally baffled by the hype.

Laurie Metcalf should have won the Oscar for this.
