It's been a while since we've had one that I've forgotten. National parts close, no? And govt offices?
What happens when we have a shutdown because of the federal budget?

Yes.
And yes.
And the economy suffers.
And people suffer.
And the stock market crashes (it already has).
And Republicans blame it on Democrats, even though it's always Republicans shutting down the government.

It doesn't affect alot of the important stuff like Medicare and Social Security. I don't think it'll end in a shutdown. They'll come up with some compromise at the last minute as per usual. With Dem votes, Johnson can actually pass anything he wants but it threatens his career as Speaker. Are elected Representatives really going to accept that an unelected douche like Musk can threaten them at will?

R2 You overestimate the courage of Republican members of Congress.

Elmo needs to make his mark somehow, R2.
Otherwise he has as much value as a used Tesla.

The market hasn’t crashed, dodo.

National private parts.

We spend more money planning for the shutdown, retroactively paying people not to work, and then retroactively paying people who worked but didn’t get paid. Air travel is at its highest volume ever, and the screeners and air traffic controllers won’t get paid until Congress ends the shutdown.
This is 1000% a Republican game. They can’t govern, even when they are given power. But American voters are really easily fooled and distracted, so here we are.

My National Private Parts are ALWAYS open for business!

Yeah, which is why I say fucking shut the government down then. Republicans love playing this game of chicken so I think they should have to actually deal with a fucking shutdown for once.

Actually, R2, it depends on whether it’s a full or partial shutdown and how long it lasts. Shutdowns can, theoretically, affect those things.

Government employees get to leave their jobs for about a week and then the they (quietly) get their 'lost' wages back as a separate check. At least that's the way it's worked in the past.

R5 didn't check the markets yesterday.

R9 I agree. Democrats always come in bail out Republicans when they try and pull these stunts. Democrats should sit this one out and put Republican incompetence on full display.

r11 not all of then, if you are an essential worker such as law enforcement( TSA, CBP, Border Patrol) you have to work no matter what.
