I'm not concerned about the right-wing "being turned against us"---they need something to be against, if anything they really only dropped anti-gay politics when the trannies started acting up.

My issue is that gender dysphoria is a real issue and the people who suffer from it should be treated with respect and compassion and not scapegoated. UNFORTUNATELY, about 10-15 years ago, a lot of socially inept, sexually awkward 20 and even 30 something "kids" gave up on real sexual adventure via in-person connection and started flirting with pretending to be gender dysphoric to get oppression cred. The cynically manufactured their own political movement based on a couple of ambiguous bathroom laws, which unfortunately for the truly gender dysphoric, has resulted in a kind of law enforcement crackdown. Since then, the "allies" have explicitly embraced their cause and demands for sex reassignment surgeries as intrinsically "progressive," and teenagers and even elementary aged kids have jumped on the bandwagon of exploring transsexuality as an option. It's not a sign of a sexually healthy populous---hordes of young people complaining about discrimination while taking hormones and considering cutting off sexual organs. It's not about androgyny or gender bending or that blurs lines---it's all about passive aggressive resentment of the other sex and prescribed expectations.
