Jamie Foxx recovering after physical altercation at Beverly Hills restaurant
Jamie Foxx is recovering after an incident at a restaurant during his birthday dinner on Friday left him with injuries.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” a spokesperson for Foxx said. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
The Beverly Hills Police Department said it responded to “a reported possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow restaurant, located at 344 N. Camden Drive.” The incident happened just after 10 p. m., police said, though the department does not mention Foxx by name.
“Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded,” BHPD said. “Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties. The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made.”
CNN has reached out to Mr. Chow for comment.
The incident comes days after the Hollywood star detailed the struggles he had with his health last year in a Netflix special titled: “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.”

I wish they would give more context about what happened before the person threw the glass.
That doesn't just happen "out of the blue."
I don't think it was a "hit" by Diddy's people. They would have used a gun, not a glass.
This seems more personal.

Meaning that lesbian drama has nothing on celebrity drama.
And don't keep letting it out you had a "stroke," Jamie.
Let it out WHY you had the "stroke(s)."

So Jamie Foxx is sitting there enjoying a birthday dinner in Beverly Hills, when another diner (out of nowhere) decides to hurl a glass at his face?
Oh yeah, totally believable.

R8, it was given context. Did you read the entire account of the incident, as concluded by responding law enforcement?

Jamie Foxx ended his 57th birthday in stitches after getting hit with a glass at his celebration dinner. The prolific actor’s publicist confirmed that he was having dinner with friends at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills when he was involved in an altercation with another table at the restaurant, according to CNN. The Oscar-winning actor took to Instagram to thank his fans and people who checked in on him.
"The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me," he wrote in the captions of the post. "When your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright…"
A statement given to CNN by his publicist said, "Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands."
TMZ spoke to a witness to the event, who said "customers at another table were being rude and vulgar to Jamie, and he asked them to stop since his family was present," adding, "which is when someone at that table allegedly threw the glass that hit him in the face." He was with his daughters, Corinne and Anelise Foxx, along with his ex Kristin Grannis.
CBS reported that police arrived on the scene after someone called to report an assault with a deadly weapon. However, the officers who responded to the call determined that the claim was unfounded. Rather, the incident was deemed a physical altercation. Foxx left the restaurant before police arrived, TMZ said.
The actor is returning to the limelight after almost dying due to a brain bleed and stroke, which he chronicles in his new Netflix stand-up special, What Had Happened Was... Last year, it was reported that Foxx was having health issues after suffering an episode while filming his new movie Back in Action with Cameron Diaz. His first appearance after the health scare was the Critics Choice Association's Celebration of Cinema and Television: Honoring Black, Latino, and AAPI Achievements event to accept the association's Vanguard Award in December 2023. His special is now on Netflix, and Back in Action premieres January 17.
