Is he not the best actor of his generation? He just has IT.
Oh, please.

Hey Matt, at least I can act.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 1, 2024 5:04 PM |
He's so hot and a really good actor, too
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 1, 2024 5:05 PM |
I thought it was sweet of him to appear in a cameo on Heartstopper.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 1, 2024 5:22 PM |
The first time I saw Bailey was in a clip from Crashing a show created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
He played a cute, bleached blond twink.

[quote] He played a cute, bleached blond twink.
He's a bit "long in the tooth" to be playing a Twink, don't you think?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 1, 2024 5:24 PM |
He’s no Drew Staley.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 1, 2024 5:26 PM |
He’s no Ray Starkey.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 1, 2024 5:27 PM |
I agree with r5. I saw him in Wicked last night and didn’t know he could sing and dance as well as act. Plus, the man has ass for days. 😛
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 1, 2024 5:29 PM |
Did Bomer and Bailey hook up? Who was the top? 😂
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 1, 2024 5:31 PM |
[quote] Who was the top? 😂
The double-headed dildo.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 1, 2024 5:33 PM |
He was amazing in Company in the West End where he did an incredible version of Not Getting Married today.

Crashing is from 2016. Eight years ago, he was 28, but like all good homosexualits, looked much younger.
I would concede that perhaps he had reached the twunk stage (twunk being past tense of twink and not a portmanteau of twink and hunk).
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 1, 2024 5:38 PM |
For me, he was the real revelation of Wicked. Everything else felt very saccharine and Uncanny Valley to me, but like OP I just thought, wow he has IT.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 1, 2024 5:43 PM |
Bony and overrated.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 1, 2024 5:51 PM |
Thank you for sharing, Mother Bailey, aka OP.

I immediately glommed onto him after seeing him in BROADCHRCH, the first season, as the young intrepid reporter. Somehow, they smartly got a shirtless scene of him, and I was hooked forevermore.
Then saw him in London in a small, sweet play at the Donmar THE YORK REALIST as a gay character, then in COMPANY in London as a gay Jamie singing Not Getting Married Today, then in London in COCK as a gay character opposite Taron Egerton who didn't bother to show up that night, but it didn't matter as Jonny was the whole show anyway.
Already have tickets to see him playing Shakespeare's RICHARD II at the Bridge in London in March.
Frankly, I'm a little pissed that I now have to share him with the entire world (never watched Bridgerton, simply couldn't bear it).
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 1, 2024 5:59 PM |
He’s hawt only because he’s an exception to the “Brit not really hot” dictum.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 1, 2024 6:09 PM |
I don’t know that he’s the best of his generation, but he’s very talented and charismatic.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 1, 2024 6:09 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 1, 2024 8:25 PM |
He's beautiful and he's charming.
He may or not get better at acting over time but right now he's riding the wave and seems to be actually enjoying the ride.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 1, 2024 8:34 PM |
I couldn't pick this man out of a crowd. One million of him in LA.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 1, 2024 8:39 PM |
He's about to have one of the biggest 12-month box-office runs in history, if not the biggest, with Wicked 1&2 and Jurassic Park.
He also has 3 seasons of Bridgerton in the Top 10 most watched shows in Netflix history.
No other actor today can match his combined film and TV success.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 1, 2024 8:45 PM |
I think of his Tim character in Fellow Travellers alot. I listen to the soundtrack of the series (lots of beautiful instrumental pieces) and see JB's Tim. His performance in that was really something special!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 1, 2024 8:51 PM |
I want to be deep inside him.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 1, 2024 8:53 PM |
I want him in me, quite deeply.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 1, 2024 8:54 PM |

I liked him in Wicked but thought he was a bit over the hill for a part of a someone enrolled in a "college"
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 1, 2024 8:56 PM |
Did he have to be painted green though?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 1, 2024 8:57 PM |
Johnny's pop star era is upon us.
No other actor is doing it like Johnny is across film, TV and music.

^^^I forgot stage, too. He stars on the London stage in Richard II in February.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 1, 2024 9:05 PM |
He always strikes me as someone who is just a bit too thirsty, but he does have talent.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 1, 2024 9:12 PM |

Here's one of his songs in "Company", in which he won a best supporting actor Olivier award in 2019.
His part starts at 40 sec in.

He's cute, gay, and doesn't seem to be a complete douchenozzle.
With all the Lukes as his co-stars on Bridgerton, it occured to me that he would look cute in a couple with DL Fav Luke MacFarlane.

You clearly haven't met him.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 2, 2024 12:58 AM |
I'm very impressed with Bailey. I couldn't watch him on Fellow Travelers because plastic face Bomer ruined that show for me. Hopefully he will have a great career.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 2, 2024 1:04 AM |
How many procedures do we think Bomer has had?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 2, 2024 2:02 AM |
Bailey is cute with BIG brown eyes he bores into the camera lens.
That is a lot of what he has going on.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 2, 2024 4:15 AM |
R41: He has IT. The indescribable je ne sais quoi that commands all eyes on him.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 2, 2024 4:46 AM |
Funny how two previous DL threads on this "Queer" didn't get any traction, yet now with "Wicked" PR in overdrive, we get a new thread with DL (allegedly) fawning all over her. First The Pink One, then The Green One, now Princess Q; Comcast/ Universal PR riding DL hard again.
Agree with the "Matt Bomer" poster and those saying Bailey is a dime a dozen in LA- This aging narcissistic bitch is nothing special.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 2, 2024 6:14 AM |
R52, why are you calling him queer? He describes himself as a gay man.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 2, 2024 6:26 AM |
I didn't love that version of "I'm not getting married" partly because with the recording it was hard to hear his diction. I'm linking an audition tape to show a better range both vocally and emotionally. He doesn't really sing out with full voice until about the 3rd minute of the clip, but he really creates a musical arc.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 2, 2024 7:07 AM |
I thought he was miscast in Fellow Travelers.
No way someone that hot and muscular would be all timid and not be able to get the bartender's attention when he wanted to get milk.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 2, 2024 7:15 AM |
Matt Bomer has a pretty face and that's about the extent of his talent. He lacks Bailey's depth.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 2, 2024 7:23 AM |
His American accent in Fellow Travelers is hilarious—textbook example of a Brit going way too hard on the consonants, especially the Rs.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 2, 2024 7:23 AM |
Matt's certainly made his career by being pretty; I did think he was good in Fellow Travelers
I'm sure his new sitcom is written to his strengths
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 2, 2024 9:05 AM |
That sitcom is embarrassing. Bomer should be at a stage in his career where he shouldn't have to do that dreck. I wonder if there are money problems.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 2, 2024 2:30 PM |
He was the best part of Wicked.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 2, 2024 10:04 PM |
Just saw Wicked tonight. My take on Jonathan Bailey is that somehow he is able to look at every other actor on the set with him in a way that sizzles seduction. What a wonderful gift!! In his main number as Fiyero, each man and woman that he leans into melts with lust - and so do we. I agree that, while very very attractive, he is not feature perfect model handsome, but what does that matter to an actor who can communicate seduction. After all, the greatest aphrodisiac in the world is to have someone look at you with that sort of lustful intensity. And his legs and ass are very fine indeed. I loved him in Fellow Travelers, but I loved him just as much singing and dancing on the big screen.
His openness about being gay will probably limit him in the film world, (will prevent him sometimes from being cast as the romantic lead in straight films), but he will be on stage as a lead for at least the next decade because of this special power.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 3, 2024 9:08 AM |
I think he’s reached the saturation point. Now he’s just annoying.

by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 4, 2024 6:11 PM |
Bailey is a fantastic actor. He completely stole the show in Fellow Travelers

by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 4, 2024 10:20 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 70 | December 4, 2024 11:27 PM |
R66 Not really hard when the other main actor is Matt Bomer.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | December 4, 2024 11:41 PM |
[quote]I didn't love that version of "I'm not getting married"...
Me neither, it's a bit goofy in its staging and Bailey sings the last, sustained "todayyyy" flat both times.
