Oddly, white South Africans always pretend THEY were the ones constantly in fear of their lives and safety. I have a white acquaintance who was raised in SA and his family moved to Canada just as apartheid ended. He moved to LA @1996. Whenever he speaks about it he makes it sound like he lived in a war zone where his family was under constant threat. I always give him the blank stare when he says that shit, offer no empathy, never ask any questions and ALWAYS try to change the subject. I know it pisses him off.
