Sold everything and moved to India.

OP, I don't know what this guy's sexuality was, but I can't imagine anyone-- man, woman, whatever-- being eager to admit that they "had him". And the fact that he "sold everything and moved to India" just makes me wonder what was going on behind the scenes.

Is he the guy with the big overbite?

by Anonymousreply 2November 29, 2024 5:38 PM

He died of liver cancer in 2000. His magic act brought a lot of happiness to a lot of folks.

Henning died at 52 of liver cancer, which he had tried to cure through transcendental meditation. Instead, he died five months after diagnosis. Doesn’t liver cancer indicate alcoholism?

Way to bring the room down, R3. Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 5November 29, 2024 5:51 PM

Oh sad to hear. I thought he was hippie handsome

by Anonymousreply 6November 29, 2024 5:52 PM

His grand dream of building a TM amusement park at Niagara Falls died with him.

In that Destiny’s Child “Behind the Music” episode, they said they would watch his old specials as motivation / not sure for what, exactly.

R9 ??

by Anonymousreply 10November 29, 2024 6:08 PM

I enjoyed watching his TV specials as a kid in the 70’s.

R4 My grandmother died as a result of liver cancer. She never had an alcoholic drink in her life. Go figure.

About 30 years ago, I saw him at my university during the federal election campaign.

This new party was formed around TM. They had tons of money and ran a very expensive campaign.

Anyways, I went to see so-called yogic flying. But it was really guys jumping cross legged on a mat.

He seemed nice though.

Remember when he got fat and started hitting watermelons with a sledgehammer?

His "The Magic Show," with music and lyrics by "Wicked's" Stephen Schwartz, ran for almost 2,000 performances on Broadway, and is one of the longest-running shows that's never had a revival (and probably never will.)

I remember them r13. My brother was friends with a kid whose dad was high up in that party. He was a very nice kid but of course everybody laughed at him

I only liked Shields & Yarnell

Thin frame + long limbs + overbite = big dick

by Anonymousreply 19November 30, 2024 12:54 AM

There’s a movie version of Thr Magic Show, but they cut two great songs (West End Avenue and Charmin’s Lament). It does have Anita Morris repeating as Charmin, but robbed of her big number.

by Anonymousreply 20November 30, 2024 1:18 AM

He always reminded me of Bugs Bunny

by Anonymousreply 21November 30, 2024 1:27 AM

I remember seeing him on television and thought he was one of the Hudson Brothers.

by Anonymousreply 22November 30, 2024 1:33 AM

I remember he was surrounded by topless assistants. It seemed weird that it was meant for kids.

by Anonymousreply 23November 30, 2024 1:33 AM

He looks like the typical 70’s gay

by Anonymousreply 24November 30, 2024 1:51 AM

He and David Copperfield are the next season of Feud.
