OMG! Lost Horizon on TubiTV!
I used to love this movie as a kid, having watched it multiple times on TV—afterschool movie. It’s a musical with songs by Burt Bacharach, about a group of westerners who crash land in the Himalayas to find a hidden town of people who never grow older.
As an adult, I found out that it’s supposed to be one of the worst films ever made, with 14% on Rotten Tomatoes.
I’ve been wanting to re/watch it for years but could never find it on streaming—but now it’s on Tubi!!

Does it include the hilarious fertility dance sequence?

Is it the fully restored version with all the songs intact? To be honest, the restored Blu ray is one of my prized possessions. I saw it in the theater in 1973 as a little kid and it always haunted me. I waited 40 years to see the original version. Over the years my career took me Sally Kellerman's orbit and we spent a lot of time talking about it. She loved the singing and dancing but the script ugh.....

It's very watchable, as in entertaining trainwreck! My take...

The restored version is missing about 30 seconds of a duet with Sally and George Kennedy singing 'Living Together". The audio of it is on YouTube. When you watch the movie you can tell where they cut it. It's just during the scene when Sally and George are talking about building the aqueduct to the fields and the scene cuts to them opening up the water flow and the villagers cheering. If you look close you can see the villagers swaying to the music. Sally and George are on top of the aqueduct hugging each other.

Thanks OP! I was just looking on Tubi for a movie. Finishing up MMIS Louis. That Margaret O'Brian is something else. Crazy story about her Oscar being stolen.

Poor Peter Finch looked suitably annoyed, exasperated with Michael York as they trudged through the snow.

Dunno R6 guess cause as a little kid the concept of place like Shangri La appealed to me. Also Sally told me and I searched it out. She was a wonderful person by the way.

I'm really liking the Sally and Olivia duet. I don't see any gays in Shangrala. I think Burt Bacarach wrote some of these songs in 30 minutes or less.

I was mesmerized by this movie when I first saw it on TV in the ‘70s. I wanted to live in Shangri-la. I remember thinking, “Wow, those kids are so happy. They go to school outside, they dance and sing, and they don’t get bullied, because they don’t have gym class!"

I never miss a Liv Ullman musical.

I was excited when I saw the topic "Lost Horizon" but then read this thread is about the crappy remake. The original Ronald Colman movie is a beauty although over the years, pieces of it have been destroyed. Whenever TCM shows it, they're run the original dialogue over still photos of those scenes. I hope the movie is never 'remade' again.

BTW Bette, not only did I see Liv in "Lost Horizon", I also saw her in the B'way musical "I Remember Mama".

Ok. I finished it. I loved it and I don't know why. Bobby Van was actually really good in it. I didn't know what a good song and dance man he was. It's somewhat inconsistent in tone but maybe that's what makes it unique. Still wrapping my head around it.

It’s leaving Tubi after today. NOOOOOOOO!
The fertility dance wasn’t included. Is it available to see anywhere else. I never miss a musical number with hot ethnic male dancers swanning about in diaper-like garb.

Obviously Hermes Pan watched a few Bolllywood movies while he was choreographing this.

Pamela Ferdyn is in this as well but I didn't see her. I guess she's just one of the many chanting singing children.

It got awful reviews. But still I wanted to love it. I loved Thoroughly Modern Millie and Airport. And Burt Bacharach and Hall David. Come on. But after I saw it I thought the reviews had been kind. I never had any desire to see it again.
But a guilty pleasure is watching on youtube Sally and Olivia sing The Things I Will Not Miss, which is a good song but the staging is not so much by Hermes Pan as by Helen Keller.

The original Lost Horizon opened as a roadshow movie in downtown movie theaters. It was then cut and in New York it played at Radio City with the stage show. I don't know if the movie has ever been restored to its original roadshow length. From what is said above I guess not. But Peter Finch is no Ronald Colman who is perfect. In like everything he did.

I got through and then decided cleaning the litter box was a better use of my time. When this many good actors are this bad, you know it’s a stinker. And the worst songs I think I’ve ever heard in a musical film.

There were some cover versions of the songs from the movie:
Fifth Dimension: "Living Together, Growing Together" (later also by Tony Bennett)
Diana Ross/Marvin Gaye: "Things I Will Not Miss."
Richard Harris: "If I Could Go Back"

No, it didn't play Radio City Music Hall. It opened exclusive engagements with continuous showings, not Roadshow in NY with two theaters including The Lowes State on Broadway, one theater in New Jersey and this one here on Long Island.

I just glanced at the version I've got and it's there. (Extended Fertility Dance 01:06:08 - 01:08:21, followed by 'Living Together' reprise.)
Check the runtimes. If the film is 02:29:29 in length, then it's got it.

Andra Willis who was briefly on "The Lawrence Welk Show" (1967 - 1969) provided the vocals for Olivia Hussey.
