I understand it's a feast or famine business and actors have to cultivate opportunities where they can but he was way over the top.

Laura Wright was body shamed years ago when she started gaining weight, being compared to Kim Zimmer and Paula Deen. As referenced here before, she also refuses to have Carly get slapped anymore or lose a fight, such as when Sam beat Carly up or when Robin slapped her during the Guza years. Jonathan also has script approval in his contract; if he doesn't like something in the script, he can change it.

Steve also refused to do triangles that were Male/Female/Male, which was somewhat of a sticking point when he returned in 2017. To his credit, neither Billy Miller nor Kelly Monaco wanted to play the triangle angle either. Dominic Zamprogna wasn't a fan of Male/Female/Male triangles either, for he was non too thrilled about the planned Dante/Lulu/Johnny triangle, along with the Dante/Lulu/Dustin triangle as well.

They were both fine with Female/Male/Female triangles, for Steve wanted a Robin/Jason/Sam triangle when Robin returned in 2005, however Kimberly McCullough vetoed that, while Dominic was fine with the Lulu/Dante/Valerie triangle.

I have no problem allowing the actors to have some input in how they portray a scene, but why sign up for a soap opera if you're going to put all these restrictions on the character? It's acting. It's not real.

But this is the show where potential pairs get killed all the time because an actor complains. One actor put the kibosh on a planned interracial pairing because her husband was a racist, and her fanbase wouldn't have liked it. They killed a planned gay storyline because an actor complained.

Is Katelyn MacMullen the "high profile" person leaving after the first of the year? She's young, single, no kids and can afford to test the waters outside of soaps while she still has youth on her side.

I can't believe the nothingness that is the Willow character and the utter blandness that is the actress have had this long a run on the show. To think we lost Britt and Nelle, and got stuck with her boring, whimpering ass.

Steve Burton’s refusal (for the most part) to do love scenes has been an albatross to this show for what, 20 years. It would be one thing if they hadn’t also insisted on making him the primary romantic male lead for most of that time, but with that being the case a lot of hot actresses (including Kelly) have been wasted on him.

I remember when he had had the no love scenes rule for like 10 years already and the word went out that he was going to make an exception for a scene with Jason/Liz. This was hyped so much & when the episode arrived this scene literally consisted of him taking his shirt off for 2 seconds then them falling behind the couch. That was it. I laughed so hard!

Also, I genuinely believe Jonathan Jackson would have been a movie star if not for his numerous restrictions on what storylines he will or won’t play (including love scenes) due to being born again.

Willow was a spaced out, mealy mouthed cult member when she started and she hasn't changed much in 5 years. Can we get the third Victoria Sleestack to do a brief cameo/run as Monica? Currently, in story, on the GH rerun channel on Freevee, Chase has just met Willow, who is Charlotte's teacher, half-sibs Peter and Britt have just met for the first time, Anna has a very full face, Jason, Sam and Sonny all look quite young and healthy, Carly and Michael are both thin, Nina and "daughter" Sasha are hanging out at Wyndemere, and Kevin/Ryan is about to murder Mary Pat.

Thiebaud is as electric in her scenes as Rylan is terrible in hers. Kelly really screwed the pooch when she didn't renew and insisted they kill her character. Dumb.

I found Emme Rylan incredibly annoying and snippy. Like Elisabeth Hasselbeck level snippy.

Poor Emme had some tough shoes to fill, but wow -- she really was all wrong for the role.

Berman often came across as harsh and angry (more so than feisty), which I assume was either her read on Lulu or her own personality coming through, but even so she was far more interesting and engaging in the role. Lulu has always been a "so what" type of character. Like she was created strictly for the Nikolas reveal scene. I remember early on she had more crazy, out-of-nowhere jobs than Valerie and Sasha combined. Poorly written character from the get-go, and in the hands of the wrong actress just deadly.

Right LW absolutely wanted out of the interracial storyline with Shawn, particularly because of her ex-husband and her frau fanbase. She went as far to say Carly with either Patrick, Johnny or even Jax again were her preferred matches. The gay storyline- are you referencing Enzo De Angelis?

A.J. died three times (last one apparently for good), and I've lost count with Jason. Nearly everyone eventually dies and comes back. Maybe he wants to audition for the pilot season. With all the forced pay cuts and lackluster writing, maybe he just saw this as the right time to see if anything else is out there. It can't be easy watching younger actors come on the show, stay for a couple of years, and then book high-profile shows and ad campaigns, not to mention top representation, while his stories and characters aren't allowed to do anything except what Maurice wants. Poor guy.

That's a huge list of contract players, interesting to see it.

But I have to assume contracts in 2024 are quite different than in 1994 or 2004. It used to be that contracts generally meant a 2 to 3 episode a week guarantee, if not greater, and better pay.

A contract for these folks is probably not as much pay and a much smaller guarantee of appearances, likely stated as X number of appearances in a month or in a 13 week cycle, with a statement of what they get per episode if they are in any extra.

The pay is probably not so substantially different than those on recurring, but it's a status symbol and there is some security with one's job, as much as a 13 week guarantee can be secure.

Just slip Darin Brooks from B&B into the Michael role as a placeholder until Chad sorts out his problems, no one will even notice.

Nowadays, the only thing a contract is good for is guaranteeing work; you will know how much you're getting paid for the cycle. I'm confused (newly back to GH). Did Cyrus have any reason to visit Lulu - did he help set her free from her care home? Was he the one who gave Sam the heart drug that killed her, that Liz was talking about to Lucky? Is he like this overall villain that would have reason to hurt someone? I don't get who he is and what he's up to.

R180, we're all confused. Presumably, the story will play itself out and we will learn what role, if any, Cyrus played in interfering with Lulu's medical equipment and giving Sam the fatal dose of digitalis. Or, it will be one more story that leads nowhere, like "who shot Austin Gatlin-Holt?"

R180 Speculation is that Cyrus offed Sam, in an effort to give Lulu an opportunity to have Dante back, instead of him marrying Sam, so he had to get her out of the way. There's also speculation that he tried to do the same to Lulu beforehand, when things looked bleak, as a way to get her out of her misery, since she wasn't really showing any signs of improvement.

Cyrus is why Lulu was comatose for five years, since the bomb that led to her condition was of his doing. He's claiming that he's reformed, though it's all an act. He's trying to make amends with his sister Laura and her children/grandchildren.

I wish they continued with the storyline that Cyrus was a radio preacher. I think it could have led to a great cult storyline where the young people were becoming indoctrinated...although didn't someone put a stop to Dawn of Day? For you R180, over the past two years, these storylines have never been solved:

Who Killed Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt? Who is Pikeman? Who bought Wyndermere and Spoon Island? Who tried to kill Lulu? Who killed Sam McCall? Who killed Jagger Cates (we know it was Sonny but never mentioned since Alexis's acquittal and the investigation stopped) Who beat up Cyrus Renault? (we know it was Sonny but he was never arrested or fully investigated) Who are Giolin's real parents? (We get deer in the headlight faces from Lois and Brook Lynn whenever he mentions his "mom") Who are Dex's real parents? (basically dropped after a few mentions)

R180 Also, Lulu set herself free by setting the fire alarm as a distraction, which led her to escaping, partly to get away from Cyrus and her back home to her family. Cyrus was a big villain before his "rehabilitation."

Never heard that before, but not especially surprised. Coby's Shiloh was quiet good and was one of my favorites. I'd much rather watch him than sputtering Sonny.

Of course, cult storylines have never gone over well with the networks. Edge of Night had a cult storyline in 1978-79 that ended abruptly at the mandate of the network, following the Jonestown massacre. So, perhaps that factored into the show ending that storyline.

LOL My DVR's synopsis of Wednesday's show said that "Lucy confronts Cyrus." I found that description intriguing, always happy when Lynn Herring gets some screen time, but curious since Cyrus and Lucy haven't overlapped in years.

But then I watched the Wednesday's show and Lucy was nowhere to be seen. Not a glimpse of her anywhere. As far as the confrontation with Cyrus, it was Lucky who confronted him, not Lucy. What a difference a K makes.
