Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere star in the Showtime series beginning Dec 1st. Just an FYI.
The Agency

I started to watch this & aesthetically speaking, there are beautiful shots of London - a high end production. But it's kind of dull and Michael Fassbender - it's like someone just sucked the charisma right out of him. Sure, he's older and quite thin but that guy in Hunger that was just electric - it's like he's been replaced by AI Fassbender. I suppose he needs the paycheck - that racing hobby doesn't pay for itself - but the hook of the story seems to be that he's this bad ass agent, but he's been played by this Ethiopian woman (who is quite lovely), but doesn't seem to be any compelling reason to care about the Fassbender character and his messy personal life.

It’s still funny to me that Fassbender played a character named Harry Hole.
I know it’s probably meant to be pronounced as “Hole-lay” but still.

The original French show “Les bureau des legendes” that this based on is one of my favourite shows ever so keen to see if this can match it. I’m doubtful though given the reviews so far in the press aren’t great.

I watched the first season of the original. I know it’s critically acclaimed but I found it incredibly boring and didn’t bother continuing after that. A lot of the reviews say the remake is dull which isn’t a surprise.

I’m finding this version boring as well, not to mention that it comes off as a crappy recruitment tool.
The brutalist apartment building, the red, white & blue art w/ stars covering an entire wall at the agency’s station in London, the shitty dialogue between him & his daughter?
C’mon.
Blah.

It feels like none of the storylines are fleshed out enough to truly pull you in.

It’s not a patch on the original.

It’s intriguing but there’s not going to be anything memorable about it.

Does anyone else feel Richard Gere is wasted in this role?

R4 I felt that way too. Season 2 was better, but judging by the IMDB ratings, the following seasons are not.

I didn’t know Mauricio was so well-connected.

I'm disappointed. Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere deserved better.

I tried watching this, but I find is so hard to follow, that I'm not sure I'll continue. I'm not interested in the characters enough to try harder to get into it.

I’ve watched all five seasons of the French original twice and I still am struggling to follow what’s going on. They’ve condensed events that took place over a season into a single episode and changed timelines. They aren’t explaining motivations of characters very well. It’s a damp squib.
