The Mike Wallace interview of Barbra Streisand on 60 Minutes: why was he such a dick?

Time has not been kind. The older I get, the more I realize what a careerist cunt Mike Wallace was.

I wouldn’t enjoy seeing this.

To be fair, she was herself deeply annoying. I see no one blameless here.

Mike Wallace was terribly disrespectful, arrogant and presumptuous during that interview.

He was a jerk, but according to him, she was trying to control the interview from the get-go including telling the cameramen where to place their cameras and how to film her. I totally believe that.

Barbra is not a shrinking violet by any means.

I was going to start a Streisand thread because we haven’t had one in a week.

Mike Wallace was not a celebrity interviewer, he was a ball buster - that was his job. How Barbra could be so oblivious to this is absurd.

Why would anyone allow themselves to filmed from an unflattering angle if they had the power to change that? Especially someone who has had their appearance constantly ridiculed.

She's a piece of work. One of the most talented singers in any era makes up for it maybe. But I read the unauthorized biography and I'm sorry but she was a cunt. Mean without remorse. A killer. If you couldn't do anything for her you were not alive to her. She would say of course that if it were a man he'd be called strong and assertive. Bullshit. He'd be called an asshole or whatever the male equivalent of a cunt is.

They were kind of evenly matched. I wonder why she did the interview. She needed to plug her movie but couldn't she have done it with someone like Mary Hart from ET?

It was crazy of him to ask how many years of therapy she needed, but she’s such a pill that it was fascinating to see someone take her down a peg.
