I’m only worried when I’m awake. I sleep a LOT.

Once trump takes over there will be virtually no chance at all under any circumstances that the US and Russia will be going to war. At least against each other.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 19, 2024 7:26 PM |
Not skeerd at all, y'all. Our Lord and Savior Donald J. Trump has been reelected and will save it us, even you ignorant libtards.

With Biden ok'ing long range US missiles being shot deep into Russia the chances of war will be much lower starting in Jan 2025.
See OP you should be happy with a trump win. Less chance of war with our great friends in Russia,

I'm at a 5. The SSTrump could capsize and turn the whole country off by midterms. Something to hope for.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 19, 2024 7:35 PM |
Me too!, r1. I'm so happy to go to bed.
I'm simmering at a 6. But once the deportation with the military starts, it's going up. I'm sure the psycho deplorables in the ranks are chomping(champing?) at the bit. They had better allow the press to document this.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 19, 2024 7:47 PM |
I'm a 5 at the most.. My feelings over this is best described as "meh". I understand why people are upset but at the same time Fecal Orange won't even be inaugurated until January 20th. Screeching that is the sky is falling like Chicken Little is premature at best and shit stirring/fearmongering at worst. A lot can happen in eight weeks.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 19, 2024 7:50 PM |
R8 when our military troops start hunting ms-13 for deportation exactly how bad are you going to take it? A 7? A 8? Let’s hope not a 9.
And will you be doing anything personally help or to protest the round up of the illegals other than post on DL?

Six to seven.
And only when I'm awake. Although I am having some odd nightmares. Last night I stabbed a big fat guy in his belly roll. In fact, now that I think about it, it looked suspiciously like you-know-who.
I can't sustain this level of fear/adrenaline much longer. I'm starting to wind down due to sheer exhaustion.

I wasn't until a friend sent me a short video with two guys talking about how this was a huge step of Western aggression and intervention by Biden's masters that really might cause a nuclear war. There point is that these missiles require Americans and/or Europeans to launch them and Russia had said anything like this would trigger a nuclear response. I don't know how true all this is. I watched it a few minutes ago and have to do some research.
My fear level is probably 4.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 20, 2024 12:50 AM |
I am about a 7. We are going to have people at the top actively trying to destroy us. I have come to terms with the idea I may not outlive this regime but will go down fighting if it comes to that. I just feel for the youth that did not have say in this.

Last night I dreamt I was in some kind of juvenile delinquent hall, and scurrying around trying to avoid getting beat up/gay bashed.
I think this was from the stories about LGBTs being texted to go to “re-education camps.” I don’t know why I was younger in this dream, though…

I'm in Ireland. A conspiracy-minded friend tried to convince me last night that Putin is planning to bomb Shannon Airport (located in County Clare, near Limerick) and one or two smaller airports here to prevent the U.S. from gaining strategic access. I never bother to ask from what dodgy sites he gets his information.

Putin spends no money on his military. And I'm sure the nuclear bombs haven't been touched since they were made in the 50s. He will destroy his country and probably be thrown out a window soon. Don't stress or buy some iodine pills and gas masks if that will make you feel better.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 20, 2024 5:56 AM |
Those are the questions we *don't* ask, R28! I just humor, smile, and nod. (My lovable but loony friend does work in aviation, though).

Living in Europe on a farm, I have plans for the euthanisaton of my animals and pets in the event that something bad happens. A decent supply of food, water and meds too. Newspaper reports of the Russians mass producing mobile bomb shelters. Years ago ABBA released their Visitors album, with a song called Soldiers. Quite prophetic. Here's hoping cooler heads prevail.

by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 20, 2024 6:47 AM |
I mean...a one, I guess. What is there to be afraid of? I'm concerned about rights being taken away from people. As far as war, the ONLY good thing about Trump is his need to build the greatest military in the universe. Economies go up and down. Shit, our parents survived worse and for some, they're still here.
I've never been optimistic, so...just be prepared for shit to go down.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 20, 2024 12:40 PM |
One way Trump picked off people from the far left was a double dose of anti-vax and anti-war. I have a friend from high school who was in the 2017 women’s march in SF who freaked out about Covid and the vaccine, moved to the NE, and now posts incessantly about RFK as well as Democrats’ warmongering. She hated Kamala specifically for being a prosecutor. The Cheney support didn’t help change her mind.
This message caught on with a lot of the wackier Republicans as well. Women who said they would sacrifice their daughter’s right to choose to prevent their sons from dying in war.
We live in wacky times.

I'm simmering at a 7, with occasional flare-ups to a 9 when some of the most dire predictions about Trump's plans seem to hit the bullseye. There are also moments of calm acceptance and a sort of giddiness at how ridiculous it all is which drops me to a temporary 4.5.

What r47 said.
Jack Smith has a family. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes them back to The Netherlands. Unless, of course, they pull his passport.
And who could blame him?
That not hyperbolic surmise. I have eyes. I saw what Trump's supporters did on January 6th. I think it's probable Trump issues blanket pardons to all of them.
What signal does that send to his "whackadoos"?
Trump's pardoning his insurrectionists is a variation on his January 6th words: Take my political retribution into your violent hands, just like the free pass my cabal gave me from the Supreme Court, you too, have impunity.
Of course, I could be wrong about all of this. But I don't think so. That's where we're at in this country.

Yes. Vanity Fair's Gabriel Sherman on Bluesky:
"An under covered story is how GOP politicians fear their physical safety if they defy Trump agenda. A high level MAGA person told me: “They should be afraid. They didn’t win the election. Trump did.”"

What r51 writes is why I concluded from the get-go, as soon as Trump nominated Gaetz, that Repub US Senators will fold.
They can stand on ceremony and speak a good game about jealously guarding their US Senator powers, protocols and privileges deny or conform a nominee till they're blue in the face.
I'll wait and see what they do, or more to the point, what they don't do, with regard to Gaetz.
Supposedly, Trump is stating he's not sure Gaetz will make it.
Well, all I can say is that if Trump abandons Gaetz, look where Trump left him. Gaetz resigned so he doesn't have a job anymore, plus that report will probably be leaked.
But in a twist only Florida could concoct, he'll land on his feet as Governor Gaetz

Biden's masters are fucking with an amoral, former KGB agent, driven by ego and grandiosity. He's not going to bomb the West. He is going to bomb the shit out of Ukraine. It won't be nuclear, he needs their produce, but 10s of thousands will die and Ukrainian cities will basically be flattened. It will be a warning and show of force to the West, especially the UK.

I’m with r19.
And I don’t watch the news or listen to any news podcasts. I don’t give a shit about Putin.
His “nuclear arsenal” is probably just as fucked up as the rest of his military equipment- a hollow shell that’s been stripped of everything that can be sold off to the highest bidder.
What I’m worried about is the economy crashing, causing another depression, criminals and traitors getting away with EVERYTHING while people like US suffer and die from cholera, typhoid and other preventable diseases because these fiends WANT us to suffer and die.
They derive joy from inflicting pain on others. It’s psychopathic.

So in the UK in recent days there's been a bomb alert at Gatwick Airport and near the US Embassy in London. Russian intelligence sent explosive devices to DHL depots in Berlin and England in recent months, may have been trial runs to disrupt UK travel and infrastructure.
Also, a Russian vessel has dumped explosive waste off the coast of Norfolk, East Coast of England, where the royals have homes. Then a few days ago a Russian spy ship was spotted by Irish armed forces near the site of sea bed internet cables.
And before that, an Internet cable was severed off the coast of Finland.
Looks like Russia is waging stealth war against western Europe.

TV news shows are so hyped up and so misleading and inaccurate. It is shameful how t hey have evolved. I recommend following the good guys like Tristan Snell, Kyle Griffin, Heather Cox Richardson, Rachel Maddow, Abby Phillips, Dworkin, Filipowski, the BBC, MSNBC, and CNN. My number goes to 7 or 8 when thinking about how the incoming administration would handle a national crisis. Imagine another pandemic with RFK, Jr. discouraging vaccines or prohibiting mandates to isolate for safety reasons. Or a major economic recession, because as much as people have been brainwashed into believing he's better than Democrats on the economy, that's bullshit. I can't even begin to think how Trump would handle a terrorist attack or provocation from another country, especially Russia. You know U.S. foes since weakness, vulnerability and indecisiveness in Trump and they will exploit it to the fullest. But that's what America voted for, so all we can do is stand by and watch the shitshow unfold.

It's just like his casinos. He knew how to build casinos. He didn't know how to operate them profitably, and he and the brain trust around him could never quite figure it out. He tried to scapegoat the state of New Jersey and its various regulatory agencies, but that doesn't take into account the Borgata Hotel and Casino, which opened long after Trump opened his casinos and his consistently been the market leader in AC both in terms of gross and bottom line revenues.
Same way with the Presidency. He knows how to win an election. He does not know how to govern effectively. And the brain trust around him, especially the nincompoops he's chosen for his second administration, will never figure it out.
