It's mindblowing to me that one of the biggest TV shows of the late 80's is nowhere to be found on Amazon Prime or streaming. Given how big Jason Bateman has been, yet it's been forgotten.
How the fuck is The Hogan Family not on streaming?

You gotta better case than Valerie Harper OP!!!

Not mind-blowing, but better written than most family sitcoms of that era. Only Family Ties, The Wonder Years and Roseanne had superior writing, imo.

I haven't seen The Hogan Family since its original run when I was a kid, but from what I remember it was like r2 said. It was much better written than other family sitcoms of that era like Growing Pains etc. which were utter shit.

The whole series is currently available through Archive.org.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 28, 2024 11:54 PM |
Because it wasn't one of the biggest TV shows of the late 1980s.

It's broadcast on Rewind-TV. This is a digital subchannel over-the-air in my area (Los Angeles). My cable provider, Spectrum, broadcasts Rewind TV as Channel 1260 here.

I use to imagine jerking off with Jeremy Licht.

Not many of miller boyetts titles are streaming I don’t think except fuller house:
Miller-Boyett Productions Television series The Family Man (1990–1991) Family Matters (1989–1998) Full House (1987-1995; produced in association with Jeff Franklin Productions) Fuller House (2016–2020; produced in association with Jeff Franklin Productions) Getting By (1993–1994) Girls Across The Lake (rejected 1997 pilot for The WB starring Cindy Williams, Steve Witting and Maggie Lawson) Going Places (1990–1991) The Hogan Family (1986–1991, originally titled Valerie and then Valerie's Family: The Hogans; first series with Miller-Boyett production team) On Our Own (1994–1995) Perfect Strangers (1986–1993) Step by Step (1991–1998)

Wasn’t there a scandal of sorts with one of the younger sons and some old bag that was fucking him, or am I thinking of someone else.
Jeremy Licht came across as a baby gay.

Valerie was fantastic— the chemistry she shared with Bateman was electric, funny, and believable.
She got fucked.

Jeremy is 5’5” and is in his second marriage to a woman, R9

Speaking of Bateman, anyone remember “It’s Your Move”?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 29, 2024 8:53 PM |
I will always remember the episode about the topless painting of Sandy Duncan made when she was a young woman. They never showed the painting, but it was such a horrifying mental image.

THE FAMILY MAN was notable for Scott Weinger at peak hotness.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 29, 2024 8:58 PM |
Scott is 14 in the show r14. Not cool.

R13. I can only imagine. You could never tell which wsh she was looking.

R9 I remember some story about Christopher Daniel Barnes who was on Day by Day being involved with an older woman when he was a teen.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 29, 2024 9:32 PM |
Christopher Daniel Barnes also played Greg Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. He was surprisingly hot in those movies (despite the dorky character and the dorky clothes), but he grew up to have a scary wild beard that makes him look like he belongs to the Taliban.

R8 Full House, Fuller House, Step By Step and Family Matters are still popular enough to be monetized by streamers like Amazon Prime, MAX, and Apple TV where one kind find them the shows available with pricing options.
Perfect Strangers streams free on both Pluto and Plex. As mentioned above, Hogan Family is still broadcast over-the-air and/or cable on Rewind.
I notice that both Getting By and Going Places were done under Lorimar. At some point, the Lorimar assets were acquired by Warner Bros. and I've read there have been issues with properties. Warner is now Warner Discovery. I've read they're finally trying to get their streaming act together (e.g. recently getting both Knots Landing and Falcon Crest on Plex).

In an interview on YouTube, Jeremy Licht claimed Sandy Duncan had a "truck driver mouth." But they all did.

Apparently, Tom Hodges (Rich) wrote the AIDS episode himself

The youngest kid on Home Improvement was involved with a much older woman. Maybe a tutor? It was scandalous because he was only 17 when they married

I never really got into The Hogan Family even though I thought all the guys on the show were very cute. Jeremy Licht was my favorite. I had a crush on him from The Twilight Zone movie

R25: Terrance Noah Smith. And he legally divorced his parents over it. Then I recall he divorced the bitch and reconciled with them. I think. Who can say?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 29, 2024 10:27 PM |
I remember It's Your Move. It was canceled because parents complained that Jason Bateman's character was a bad role model.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 29, 2024 10:28 PM |
Jeremy Licht and Danny Ponce were supposed to be twins on the show even though Ponce was clearly Latino.
Jason Bateman was perfect casting, he really did look like he could've been the biological son of Valerie Harper and Josh Taylor
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 29, 2024 10:30 PM |
Valerie hated Jason.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 29, 2024 10:37 PM |
The first year or so you could see them as twins. From the third season on it was obvious they were not and they stopped playing up the twins storylines.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 29, 2024 10:42 PM |
[quote]Valerie hated Jason.
Jason Bateman became the breakout star of the show and a teen idol so the writers began making his storylines the focal point of the show, Valerie was not happy. You can't blame her.
It's an age-old story. The star of the show gets eclipsed by a young, attractive charismatic supporting player who then becomes the de facto star of the show. Michael J. Fox on Family Ties, Henry Winkler on Happy Days, Jackee on 227 are just a few other examples.

R6 Wrong info. It said Valerie was a single mother. She was married. After the ugly law suit Valerie Harper said gage hopes tbe show makes a ton of money because she was awarded a piece of tbe action. Im guessing that the Pierre’s that be kept the show off streaming and stuff to keep her from making any money. Now that she’s dead, maybe that’s why it’s beginning to pop up. I bet creative Hollywood book keeping will keep her heirs from collecting.

Sandy does not have a glass eye.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 30, 2024 12:01 AM |
Valerie didn't hate Jason, she just wanted the show to have an equal number of storylines that focused on everyone.
Given how the producers made Family Matters The Urkel Show, she had a valid complaint.

R23 “truck driver mouth” must mean something different to you than it does at my trailer park rest stop

I'm the same age as Danny and Jeremy and thought they were adorable. I like Jason Batreman now but at the time he had a smarmy look of a high school bully so I was put off the character.
