I honestly don't get how people like him remain popular. He's obviously a ragebaiter, but he acts like a rebellious teenager who never grew up - ie saying increasingly outrageous things just for attention. But who continues to give him that attention? Why doesn't his behaviour annoy those people over time?

Also, even if it earns him money, I don't know why he'd want to do it. If that were me, I'd think "I'm gonna get punched hard sometime soon if I keep this up", but that doesn't seem to worry or faze him.

Gamergate was started in August 2014 because the video game developer Zoe Quinn allegedly slept with game journalists to get positive reviews for her video game. A lot of gamers thought it was odd that her mediocre game was praised so much because her game was basically just written text with a white background (it was called Depression Quest). Zoe Quinn's ex-boyfriend Eron Gioni left a blog post, where he claimed that Zoe cheated on him with several guys. The names in that blog posts where names of game journalists. Gamers connected the dots and started #Gamergate.

As a side note: gamers in the past at least where naive people and didn't expect game journalists to do something normal jouranlists do all the time: nepotism and sleeping around for good reviews. Just in case you wonder why #Gamergate was a thing at all.

Anyway, Milo Yiannopolous wrote an article against #Gamergate but #Gamergate supporters called him out and told him that video game journalists behaved unethical when it came to game reviews but because gamers called these journalists out, they were called misogynists. Milo called them like that too in his first article but because #Gamergate supporters called him out, he switched sides. This is how he became famous @ R27
