I've never seen a cat so loving and affectionate. Does anyone know what breed of cat this is?
Do any of you have a cat this affectionate?

Dollface thread.

I don't know, but the guy is adorable, too.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 17, 2024 7:32 PM |
Just a standard, very friendly long haired kitty getting excited by the smell of cooking meat or fish.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 17, 2024 7:34 PM |
Gross. Cats on the countertops.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 17, 2024 7:40 PM |
Yeah, that is pretty gross when people allow cats everywhere in the kitchen.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 17, 2024 7:43 PM |
My cat is being very affectionate right now. Of course, she does want food.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 17, 2024 7:45 PM |
Looks like a Persian mix. My male short-hair was very affectionate, the female less so.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 17, 2024 7:47 PM |
My guy is just like that.
A once had a female cat who coexisted with me for 15 years. Not a bad or mischievous cat, just didn't want anything to do with me, other than to feed her and sleep with me.
R4/R5: I've had cats for 30 years. They're allowed to go wherever they please. I've never once contracted a disease attributable to the cat's proximity to my kitchen countertops.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 17, 2024 7:49 PM |
They're often that affectionate if food is involved.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 17, 2024 7:50 PM |
OP, if you want a breed of cat almost guaranteed to be super friendly, choose the Ragdoll breed.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 17, 2024 7:50 PM |
I'm wondering if it's a Maine Coon mix. They're very affectionate and are known to have an affinity for water.
My cat doesn't get on the counter top when I'm around, but I've caught her on it trying to look out the window. Cat owners know how to sanitize.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 17, 2024 7:58 PM |
This cat is all over his owner all the time. It's as if the cat knows how good looking the guy is.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 17, 2024 7:58 PM |
Some kitties just really, really love their peoples. It depends on the cat's personality, breeding, and socialization; kittens handled lovingly and gently from birth (even African wildcats) bond easily with humans. They'll crank the lovies up to the max when they want tasty tidbits from the nearest bipedal creature with opposable thumbs. It's how they manipulate us into doing their bidding.
Adorable little bastards.

Are male cats generally more affectionate than female cats?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 17, 2024 8:32 PM |
I've got a muted calico sweetie that arrived as a stray about 3 years ago. She is a total cuddle bug and loves sitting on my lap or anywhere close to be near me. The vet said she was about 2 years old when I took her in for her first checkup/spay. All the cats I've had over the years have always been sweet and affectionate but 'Freckles' is the sweetest one yet. She gets anything she wants.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 17, 2024 8:39 PM |
Cats should be allowed to go wherever they want. If they can put up with watching you on the shitter, you can let them stroll across the worktops
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 17, 2024 8:46 PM |
That's a cat that self-identifies as a Golden Retriever. Respect the pronouns, etc.!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 17, 2024 8:48 PM |
R15 - I also had a pastel/dilute Calico (I've never heard "muted" before). She was also a lap cat or sat touching right by me. Always in the same room if not asleep. She'd also climb onto visitors' laps. Generally, sweet and affectionate, but she could get over-stimulated and suddenly bite if pet the wrong way. She was easy to read though, so it didn't happened much.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 17, 2024 9:21 PM |
R14, in my experience, yes. But over the years I've heard about many affectionate females so it's probably closer to even than I thought.
My most affectionate was a little tuxedo male. Never once saw him angry.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 17, 2024 9:28 PM |
Totally agree, R19! My little guy is always interested in what I’m doing. He will jump up into my arms and then pat my face with his paw while turning his head sideways, purring loudly the whole time.

What a sweet animal-I think Donald Trump and his family had a cat just like that. Oh no I’m sorry I was wrong -the Trumps have never had any pets as their relationships are only transactional and they even lack compassion for each other.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 18, 2024 1:42 PM |
Definitely some Maine Coon in him.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 18, 2024 2:44 PM |
I agree with Maine Coon, but it’s possibly a Ragdoll which are also extremely affectionate.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 18, 2024 2:56 PM |
Your cat doesn't love you - they're only using you for things they want. You should hear the things they say about you behind your backs.
They'll never love you like I do.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 18, 2024 3:00 PM |
R24 stop lying Dog. Kitties do too love us!

God, some people are always thinking about Donald Trump, even in a cat thread.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 18, 2024 3:11 PM |
R25 - that's not really what science and behaviour says.
Cat owners have dysfunctional relationships. Yes - cats can become attached to you and they like the petting - but you're primarily being used for their needs.
Dogs actually fall in love with you - which can become a bit clingy at times, admittedly. But they won't eat your ass when you die. Cats? They hardly wait until the body is cold.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 18, 2024 3:16 PM |
yes, r23, I see a lot of Ragdoll in the cat in the OP's link.
I had a Ragdoll who was my soulmate and I miss him so much. He was more or less the co-parent to my other cat (a former stray) and golden retriever. I know my golden picked up many of the cat's habits. I lost my Ragdoll 3 years ago and my other cat in August. My dog is so lonely without a cat, I am going to see if we can adopt a senior cat after the holidays.

Only if both you and the cat are gay.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 18, 2024 3:27 PM |
Who is this guy, R12? he is truly good looking,
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 18, 2024 3:35 PM |
True, R24. Cats think of you as a can opener. Dogs adore you.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 18, 2024 3:37 PM |
Most of the cats I've had have been females. All of them were at least responsive but most were very affectionate and not just when I was dishing out the food because I always kept a bowl of dry food out for them so they were never hungry.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 18, 2024 3:39 PM |
R18 - My vet (who makes house calls) noted on the Rabies Document under Color and Markings - Muted Calico. I did a search and saw that the term is fluid regarding Calico's although Dilute is the more common reference. Regardless, she (as I know yours is) the best gift ever and I am so glad she is a part of my daily routine. Cheers!

She's in heat, Rose.

My last cat was a British Shorthair ginger Tom with tuxedo markings. He had the most beautiful affectionate nature, and. always wanted to be near us. I loved him very much.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 18, 2024 4:56 PM |
My cat is welcome everywhere but he’s too fat to jump on the counter. He has never gotten over the trauma of his past food scarcity and I overindulged him. I recently joined a Reddit thread called Dechonkers which has some good advice about weight loss for cats, but in the end, it’s still mostly about not giving in no matter how much your cat whines.

I don't know much about cats. Is it possible those cats are super affectionate because the owners are in NEED of that much affection?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 18, 2024 5:08 PM |
Ragdoll or ragdoll mix. They were bred to be this way.
They don't live as long as domestic shorthairs though. I thought I read 12 years.
My boy is a Heinz 57 marmalade. He's next level sweet too.

My overstuffed Siamese mix jumped up in my lap as I was reading this.
He and his sister are affectionate, but not overly so. A friend of the family has a cat that LOVES everybody, and stretches out his front paws to be picked up and cuddled. Said friend named him Huggy Bear.

No, I don't think so. Cats don't give a shit about human needs.
A cat that would sense your need for affection is ALREADY and affectionate cat.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 18, 2024 7:50 PM |
Ok thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 18, 2024 7:53 PM |
R14, female cats aren’t less affectionate but they have more of that snotty cat attitude.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 18, 2024 8:12 PM |
Male cats are def more affectionate
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 18, 2024 9:08 PM |
My Ragdoll/DSH mix was the snuggliest, most loving sweet girl cat I've ever known. My purebred female Rag wasn't half as demonstrative by comparison.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 18, 2024 9:30 PM |
My cats are this affectionate. It’s not a particular breed. It’s how they’re socialized and how secure they feel. No offense intended, but people who don’t live with cats don’t understand the complexity of each one’s personality.
Sweet video OP!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 18, 2024 9:47 PM |
Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat, probably a mix of both. Both of those breeds are extremely loyal and loving.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 18, 2024 10:36 PM |
That cat is a standard long hair; it's too small to be a Maine Coon or Ragdoll. Both are large breeds.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 19, 2024 3:58 AM |
The face / shape of that cat's head is very ordinary. Nothing wrong with that, but it does not have the roly-poly shape of a Scottish Fold or the sharp face of a Maine Coon.
I think it's some type of mixed-breed cat.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 19, 2024 4:05 AM |
I had a cat who looked very similar to the one at OP. She was a Maine Coon and Calico mix, I believe. Possibly others.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 19, 2024 4:19 AM |
Maine Coons are extraordinary cats. The ones I have seen are bigger than average and have very distinctive faces. Not really cute so much as handsome. They are supposed to be a great breed. All my cats have been mutts, but ivv be think it would be cool to have one.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 19, 2024 5:11 PM |
Both are super cuties
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 19, 2024 5:17 PM |
Former neighbors of mine had a beautiful Maine coon who would pet himself by stroking his head against your outstretched hand. Poor not-so-little fella got locked out in the stairwell one night while his owners were out. I couldn't bring him inside with my cats, so I put water, food, and a cushion on the landing for him.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 19, 2024 8:04 PM |
There's a dumb three-legged cat in my neighborhood who still chances it, dodging across the street.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | November 20, 2024 4:18 AM |
My first cat was a rescue cat named Bootsie Gumdrop.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | November 20, 2024 5:06 AM |
My cat didn't bark and hunt pheasant, so I had to put her down.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | November 20, 2024 5:28 AM |
The cat in the video appears to be a Nebelung, aka the Long-haired Russian Blue. The breed was started from two cats named Siegfried and Brunhilde, two characters from the Nibelungenlied, hence the breed name. They are playful and affectionate and will follow there favorite person from room to room which seems about right for the cat in the vid.
