The Democratic Party didn't abandon working-class white people. Working-class white people abandoned the Democratic Party because they didn't like that the Democratic Party wanted to help all working-class people.

I enjoyed the Democratic convention but there were a couple of times I thought oh why did you say that? They NEVER should have talked about automatic weapons or mass shootings. So many people are adamant about keeping their guns and they see banning any gun as a slippery slope. Get elected and then work on gun legislation. They should have talked a lot about securing our borders, the Republicans stoked the illegal immigrant fear and the Dems just didn't counter it with enough. There is nothing wrong with a nation protecting it's borders. Being gentle and compassionate when the other side is turning illegal immigration into the biggest issue is foolish.

That’s actually a great comment. I donated monthly and must have gotten 20 texts a day begging for more. Maybe some of that effort could have been spent on some NEW policy ideas.

The amount of begging was sickening. Almost cultlike, it reminded me of Scientology.

Worse? Repubs won Presidency, Senate and probably the House. Trump trounced her in the popular vote. What’s worse than that?

Democrats need to rethink their relentless money raising efforts. The constant begging, pleading and sometimes direct insults were disgusting.

It's more than that they need to rethink.

It is messaging. One or two very clear messages that will resonate with the majority. The problem is Democrats have purists who will sit it out and Republicans fall in line. Mark my words in 2028 the Democrats will learn nothing and run on identity politics again instead of economic issues. If they don't, we'll have another instance of ten different sub groups shitting on the nominee and withholding votes while Republicans bite their tongues for power.

I don't think Sanders read Harris' platform, which is replete with strategies to help working class Americans. If he strongly believed she was abandoning them, why did he enthusiastically endorse her and her agenda at the Chicago convention?
