Kamala raised record amounts of money. What good did it do?
Bernie Sanders is correct. The Democratic Party no longer chases voters, it chases donors.

The Democratic Party didn't abandon working-class white people. Working-class white people abandoned the Democratic Party because they didn't like that the Democratic Party wanted to help all working-class people.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 7, 2024 1:48 AM |
Then why are black and brown working class people abandoning them
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 7, 2024 1:50 AM |
I enjoyed the Democratic convention but there were a couple of times I thought oh why did you say that? They NEVER should have talked about automatic weapons or mass shootings. So many people are adamant about keeping their guns and they see banning any gun as a slippery slope. Get elected and then work on gun legislation. They should have talked a lot about securing our borders, the Republicans stoked the illegal immigrant fear and the Dems just didn't counter it with enough. There is nothing wrong with a nation protecting it's borders. Being gentle and compassionate when the other side is turning illegal immigration into the biggest issue is foolish.

There will be endless post mortem analysis by people far more experienced and intelligent than me (and some not so much) but of the thoughts I've had today about the election, one was that the campaign seemed so flawless, polished and the results so guaranteed because... it was Barack Obama's 2008 campaign crammed into 107 days. And it was a 2008-style campaign that they ran, including the necessary corporate cash. The problem was that the Republicans ran a 2024-style campaign (with some assistance from oligarchs foreign and domestic).

Ann Selzer needs a post mortem for her shitty poll.

But DL still blames him for Hillary Clinton’s loss, even though he ran on a platform that was wildly popular among the youth and the Joe Rogan ‘“bros” crowd.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 7, 2024 3:33 AM |
I disagree with R4, Obama's 2008 campaign was quixotic and nervy. Bernie's 2016 campaign was like Obama's 2008 campaign.
Harris's campaign was Hillary 2016. A coronation, not a campaign.

I can’t believe this shorty fossil is still alive and desperate for relevance.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 7, 2024 3:45 AM |
It would have been a lot worse without the money she raised.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 7, 2024 3:50 AM |
How could it possibly be a lot worse?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 7, 2024 3:55 AM |
That’s actually a great comment. I donated monthly and must have gotten 20 texts a day begging for more. Maybe some of that effort could have been spent on some NEW policy ideas.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 7, 2024 3:58 AM |
The amount of begging was sickening. Almost cultlike, it reminded me of Scientology.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 7, 2024 4:01 AM |
Worse? Repubs won Presidency, Senate and probably the House. Trump trounced her in the popular vote. What’s worse than that?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 7, 2024 4:01 AM |
Democrats need to rethink their relentless money raising efforts. The constant begging, pleading and sometimes direct insults were disgusting.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 7, 2024 4:03 AM |
It's more than that they need to rethink.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 7, 2024 4:04 AM |
It is messaging. One or two very clear messages that will resonate with the majority. The problem is Democrats have purists who will sit it out and Republicans fall in line. Mark my words in 2028 the Democrats will learn nothing and run on identity politics again instead of economic issues. If they don't, we'll have another instance of ten different sub groups shitting on the nominee and withholding votes while Republicans bite their tongues for power.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 7, 2024 4:04 AM |
I don't think Sanders read Harris' platform, which is replete with strategies to help working class Americans. If he strongly believed she was abandoning them, why did he enthusiastically endorse her and her agenda at the Chicago convention?

Great Gawd Almighty, I am sick to death of this spitting old fool!
Take your finger wagging, your shitty accent and your flying spittle elsewhere, you fossilized old git!

R2, like 90% of black people voted Dem
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 7, 2024 5:24 AM |
R16, except Kamala didn't run on identity politics
Republicans are the ones demonizing people based on their race or sexual identity...sounds like identity politics to me
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 7, 2024 5:26 AM |
R3, pretty sure it was Republicans who tanked the border bill, not Democrats
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 7, 2024 5:27 AM |
We would have lost more senate and congressional races without those funds, most of which came from small donors.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 7, 2024 5:27 AM |
So Republicans are allowed to raise money, but Dems aren't? You can't run a campaign without money
I agree with r22.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 7, 2024 5:28 AM |
Bernie is just another self-serving independent Lieberman.
I hope he does not think that he has another chance at the Presidency.
Go away Bernie.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 7, 2024 5:30 AM |
STFU, Bernie Sanders. The Democrats lost because of a perception that they're too far left and too invested in identity politics, a perception significantly fueled by ineffectual progressive gas bags like you.

Perhaps, but Democrats own the issue.
Look at it this way: You see a guy with guns you think Republican. You see a trans person, you think Democrat. You see a racist, you think Republican. You see an illegal alien, you think Democrat.
Democrats own identity politics, fair or not.

Fuck Bernie. He is partially to blame for Hilary losing . He demonized her during the election . When she got the nomination , HE REFUSED TO SUPPORT HER CANDIDACY UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE.
It was fucking unforgivable . He’s like a Ralph Nader . I have no respect for him at all . His ego was too fucking big to support Hilary in a meaningful way.
Obama was late to the game in supporting Hilary but at least he supported Kamala from the start

Last time I checked, this old asshole is an Independent. Where does he get off lecturing the Democratic Party?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 29, 2024 6:32 AM |
Bernard Sanders is hardly your big problem
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 29, 2024 6:37 AM |
On this issue he is not wrong. Bernie is good at identifying problems but not solutions.
