After having had 2 sleep studies, I’m off to the doctors tomorrow to get set up with a cpap machine. They’ll go ovet sone stuff with me and then plave the order. I should have it in a coupke weeks or so. Im looking forward to it. I used a cpap on tbe se in’s sleep study and OMG it was wonderful. The full mask worked best for me. Her’s my question, I know my medical provider probably has a relationship with a supplier snd as a result I might not get the best machine for me, but the one tbe supplier is pushing or tbe one my provider can make money from. I heard something about a company they work with calked Hastings. Anyway, can you recommend the best clap out there? I have moderate sleep obstruction.

The golf clap is nice. And certainly better than gonorrhea.

Is English your second language?

Perhaps, OP, you could also get glasses and a new-fangled Intertube typing gizmo, which spell checks. Called "a tablet" or "laptop".

Are you telling me my doctor can give me a mask that will...
Oh, you're talking about CPAP. Never mind. Boy, I got really excited there for a second!

Proofread before hitting “Post”.

Don’t buy the one your doctor is pushing. Do your own research, which you are doing here. Someone will eventually answer with a good response. Usually not the first 5 posts. Hang in there.

I'm right behind you, OP. I've gotta get one soon, too. If I make it that long.

Get that Aspire doo-dad instead, OP.

I have moderate obstructive sleep apnea as well, OP. I'm on my first machine (was diagnosed 2 years ago) and it's a Resmed 11. I have the nose pillow mask, not the full one. I'm extremely happy with it. No issues at all. I turned off the ramp up though (that where it starts at lower pressure and ramps up to your full setting as prescribed by your doctor after 30 mins). It alerts you when to replace your mask, filter, etc. I find that starting off at full air pressure helps me fall asleep faster.
General replacement guidelines are:
- Mask -6 months
- Water tank - 1 year (use distilled water only or you'll ruin the machine)
-Hoses - 6 months to 1 year (check regularly for holes)
- Machine - 5 years (at which point they likely will ask you to do another sleep study before prescribing a new machine)
Cleaning guideline in to soak everything in Dawn dish detergent once a week. I use CPAP wipes nightly, in between weekly washing.
I also have a hose brush which you will need.
All in all its low maintenance and so very worth it.
Best of luck to you. You're in for some great, restorative and consistent sleep ahead! You will never look back.

Is Cpap Machibe an African tribal chief?

Whatever you do, do NOT use Apria Health. They are the absolute worst. I'm forced to use them through my HMO, but I can get better prices and MUCH better service for replacement supplies on Amazon--without even using my insurance.

You should use a machete to cut through the red tape of Machibe.

Am I the only person who is skeptical about this whole thing? No one worried about sleeping or not or had any such machine when I was a child. It seems like such a gimmick invented by people who are probably also helicopter parents.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 28, 2024 8:58 PM |
It’s pretty ridiculous. Nobody dies forgetting to breathe while sleeping, except maybe with SIDS. As a stomach sleeper it didn’t work well for me. And the noise scared my dog. It’s about the whole industry around it making money and insurance and the VA paying for it.

r18 if you've ever slept with someone who has sleep apnea, you'd know it's not a gimmick.
Before they had treatment and machines, people would just die of a heart attack or stroke.
[quote] If you have severe OSA that is untreated, you are twice as likely to develop a heart attack in the future as those without OSA. In addition, research shows that up to 70% of people admitted to the hospital because of coronary artery disease were found to have obstructive sleep apnea.

Absolutely, R20. My ex still refuses to do a sleep study. He snores like a bear and would stop breathing multiple times a night, I'd have to smack him to make him start again.

Get the dental prosthesis, no moving parts, and no fungus/bacteria in your lungs, the old gay has one and it works great, CPAP are dangerous germ machines, don't be stupid.
