I expect Tilda and Julianne to both be recognised this awards season. Anybody else see it yet, what did you think? It was beautifully shot and I would love that home in Woodstock that looked like something out of AD but surely it’s very cold in Winter with all those windows.

Julianne has been overlooked by the Oscars for years. After 4 nominations in 5 years it took her 12 years for a 5th nomination (and 1st win). Nothing since then.

Beautiful people, I've just seen this film and really liked. I'm a fan of all things, Almodovar, and his first, full length, film does not disappoint. I thought that his filmaking style might not translate to an English-language film, but it works. Do US films have this type of style, anymore??

Yes, it’s a wonderful film, but neither of the two leads will receive Oscar nominations. But definitely worth seeing.

Eh I was underwhelmed with this film and found some of the lines awkward. Maybe they lost something in translation. I have to laugh at how Almodovar casts hunks in minor roles like Fred and the gym instructor.

I enjoyed it, as I do all of Almodovar's films, but did anyone else think Tilda's acting wasn't very good in this? And by not very good I mean it felt amateur and stiff.

I had to laugh when she re-appeared playing her own daughter.

This one was interesting. Not surprised that it was utterly overlooked. Maudlin with very stylized dialogue (which I like about Almodovar's films- its like Douglas Sirk shit, but less soapy) People do not talk like this.
My favorite parts were the flashbacks, which were really well done, and nice reprieve to the bleak aspect of the story. Even though the flashbacks were sad too..This film also reminded me of Autumn Sonata
The droning orchestral score reminded me of Melancholia, but not in a good way (melancholia was PERFECT)
In the end, Julianne and Tilda can do NO WRONG.

Rented this on Amazon last night. Gorgeous film. Both actresses were in top form but Tilda was outstanding. My only complaint: the abrupt ending. Maybe because I wanted more. I thought Tilda did a great job playing both roles.
