I had no idea she was still alive. When was the last time she made a public appearance? She wrote one of the best celebrity biographies in history.
Marlene Dietrich’s daughter Maria Riva will turn 100 this December

That bio was riveting and quite unsettling. I didn’t think I could manage the 800 or so pages, but it was so fascinating that I couldn’t stop reading.
Dietrich was a crazy melange of glamour, cunning, egotism, drive, and ultimately sadness, even though she’d never admit to the last one. The final act of Dietrich drunk and dying in a squalid Paris apartment reeking of booze and piss feels almost karmic considering all the callousness and almost sociopathic manipulations recounted in the preceding hundreds of pages, but I still felt sorry for her in the end.

Didn’t she try to have her daughter raped? It was something horrifying.

R2 I didn't hear that, but Maria Riva was raped at the age of 13 by her nanny (female).

Marlene got a lot of good dick in her time. And pussy, too.

^ But according to her daughter, Dietrich didn’t really enjoy sex, but rather only the seduction and the power that came with it.
