Just curious
Which country will you escape to if Trump is elected?
by Anonymous | reply 84 | October 22, 2024 5:28 PM |
I’m not letting that fat retard, or the trumpkins who support him, drive me out of my country. I’ll piss on his grave.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 21, 2024 3:46 AM |
Bitch, you ain’t going nowhere. You know it. I know it.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 21, 2024 3:54 AM |
OP wrongly assuming that other countries will be rolling out the welcome mat just because you are American.
It doesn't work that way.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 21, 2024 3:57 AM |
Nobody moved in 2016. Nobody will move in 2024.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 21, 2024 4:00 AM |
Um, we even have posters here who moved in 2016. So people did in fact move.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 21, 2024 4:03 AM |
Fuck off, we're full! 🙃
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 21, 2024 4:05 AM |
R5 Do we have verifiable proof of this?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 21, 2024 4:06 AM |
Spain
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 21, 2024 4:11 AM |
R1, I'd legitimately fear for my family & friends if Trump wins. And it's only a three-hour flight to Mexico City, which has basically perfect weather year-round.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 21, 2024 4:15 AM |
We need to fight to defend this country, not flee like cowards
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 21, 2024 4:25 AM |
It's not that deep, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 21, 2024 4:28 AM |
Whatever that means, Defacto
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 21, 2024 4:36 AM |
None. I don't walk away from a winnable fight, especially when there is light at the end of the tunnel. ;)

R15. Mao, just a few days ago you claimed that your profile name had these stats:
You have started 189 threads which have received 4714 replies. You have received 21758 WW votes and have posted 9700 replies to threads.
Now your profile says you've started zero threads with zero replies.
Why? Explain.

r19 The stats of anonymous posts and signed posts are categorized differently. I primarily posted anonymously until a few weeks ago. The stats I posted are based on my anonymous posting history.

Spain. My parents were immigrants and I'm pretty sure I would be OK reclaiming at least residency based on extensive familial ties there. I'm fluent both speaking and writing and also have a teaching background including ESL and undergraduate psychology, so I think I could be employable and contribute.
But, at 60, would I want to dislocate my life and finances on a risk? I've only met my family there on three occasions, each a decade apart. If I were 30, I'd be a lot less fearless and probably go for it. It's a lot harder to make establish a community and friendships as one ages.

Are you as big a loser in real life as you are on social media? Seems so.

What country will TRUMP hastily decamp to after he is convicted and sentenced to prison?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 21, 2024 9:19 AM |
Italy.
I need to work on a dual citizenship. Because my grandfather did not renounce his citizenship when he first immigrated to America and waited until his son was born, his son who was my father has the legal right to become an Italian citizen. Turns out even though I am 2nd gen American on my fathers side, Italy still considers that a legitimate Italian citizen. Just got to get a lot of complicated legal paperwork together if I really want to do it.

The entire world has gone to shit. Americans think they can just move to another country at the drop of a hat. Not so. It’s extremely expensive, takes years, and you have to have special skills. You’re going no where unless you already have dual citizenship.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 21, 2024 9:25 AM |
Not the same R40, that woman will be out of there next cycle. Italy's politics is a mess, but most of life and the people there just ignore it. There is no Italian MAGA that has gripped 1/2 of the country. Plus, domestic partnerships are legal there. They even have gay prides in Rome. Not planning on any kids so its' not a problem. Plus nationalized health care so it's really cheap and ranks higher than the US in life expectancy.

R21 yes you will be able to obtain residency once you arrived since day one. It is called arraigo familiar google it. If anything your money will go along way in Spain and you will he ave plenty of money to save with your retirement. You should soon start paying a medical insurance which is really cheap and very good as it covers everything. And you will have no problem finding friends in Spain .

Thanks for the information, r50. It's on the level of fantasy for me to move if Trump wins. As I've grown older fear of change has crept up on me. The thought of selling my house and moving elsewhere in town is overwhelming. But if facism really does come to the U.S., I'd very seriously consider doing it.

R57 My mother was talking shit about moving to Canada. She’s never even been outside the country, and that’s the funny thing about all this. All these people who talk about leaving the US if Trump is elected don’t seem to understand that you can’t just show up in another country and say you want to live there.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 22, 2024 1:15 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 70 | October 22, 2024 4:51 AM |
Remember the bit about "taking Trump seriously but not taking him literally" (and vice versa)?
Just because he might not literally have people deported to camps, doesn't mean he can't seriously hurt the lives of millions of Americans. R66 was engaging in hyperbole, sure, but when you consider what's at stake (including Trump's ability to damage the country beyond repair), that's not a bad thing.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | October 22, 2024 5:09 AM |
Even when Trump was president last time, there were 3 Canadians moving to the US for every 1 American moving to Canada. We always have a large migration net gain in the US from our northern neighbor even though the US population is nearly 10 times that of Canada.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | October 22, 2024 5:28 AM |
Who the hell can afford to live in Canada? I'd rather go to Mexico. It's cheap and the weather is warmer. Plus a fat whore like me can be eating Mexican food every day!

[quote]Canada is QANON country. It’s getting a Right-wing government.
R39, yes, Canada will likely be getting a Conservative Government next year. But it's not because most Canadians are right-wing -- it's because it's the cyclical nature of politics to have a change in government after one party has been in power for a decade. Canadians want a break from the Trudeau Liberals. But if you look at the polls on their views on Trump, the large majority of Canadians say they would not vote for him. So Canada is a long way from being MAGA.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | October 22, 2024 7:00 AM |
Yeah, most Americans said they would not vote for Trump the first time either. Then they did.
