Sa-Fire

Is everyone into freestyle artist Sa-Fire? I’ve been a fan of hers ever since her debut self-titled album appeared in 1988.

Sha-Fire.

Everyone?

by Anonymousreply 2October 19, 2024 4:58 PM

Harpo who dis lady. I kid, I actually know who she is. My mom played her and shit like this all the time growing up.

by Anonymousreply 3October 19, 2024 5:00 PM

I'm an eldergay. Never heard of her.

by Anonymousreply 4October 19, 2024 5:01 PM

I loved his column in The New York Times!

by Anonymousreply 5October 19, 2024 5:04 PM

R4 If you were en elder gay you would have heard of her. You must be ancient. Or flyover. And it’s just jokes. I’m sure you are still a hot daddy.

Almost as big as Terri Gibbs at one point.

Here, eldergay. Does this help? I still listen to Nyasia and George Lamond periodically.

Love me some classic freestyle

by Anonymousreply 9October 19, 2024 5:14 PM

The only freestyle artists I know of are Shannon, The Cover Girls and Lisa Lisa. Never heard of this chick.

by Anonymousreply 10October 19, 2024 5:18 PM

I loved freestyle at the time (still do). I liked her, but if I made a list of my favorite performers she would be pretty far down. When that sappy ballad of hers, "Thinking of You," came on the radio I changed the station immediately.

by Anonymousreply 11October 19, 2024 5:24 PM

She was alright, but my favorite was Emma-Rald.

by Anonymousreply 12October 19, 2024 5:35 PM

I loved that album when I came out. I liked a lot of the freestyle singers/songs of that era and still play them from time to time.

by Anonymousreply 13October 19, 2024 5:52 PM

Pardon my puke.

by Anonymousreply 14October 19, 2024 5:53 PM

LOVE Emma-Roid!

by Anonymousreply 15October 19, 2024 5:53 PM

Extremely telling autocorrect, r15.

by Anonymousreply 16October 19, 2024 6:18 PM

I don't know her.

by Anonymousreply 17October 19, 2024 6:19 PM

I'm an eldergay and have never heard of Sa-Fire or others on this thread except Lisa Lisa (and Cult Jam with Full Force).

by Anonymousreply 18October 19, 2024 6:22 PM

R16, that wasn't an "auto-correct," Miss Douche.

by Anonymousreply 19October 19, 2024 6:26 PM

I also liked Sweet Sensation and Seduction, which I think were releasing music around the same time as Sa-Fire. It Takes Two, by Seduction was a total ear worm.

She looks like Temu Liza in OP's pic.

by Anonymousreply 26June 2, 2025 7:00 PM

It might be hard to find out if everyone is.... but I'd like to think so.

by Anonymousreply 27June 2, 2025 7:03 PM

I still really like her cover of I Will Survive from the She-Devil soundtrack. I remember at the time it was released JCPenney had video monitors stationed around their stores and the music video used to play frequently

I remember Sa-Fire's "Dancing on the Fire". Latin freestyle had its moment in the late 80s - there was some good stuff. Others are cringe on re-listening.

I also liked Cynthia "Why Did You Have to Change on Me".

by Anonymousreply 29June 2, 2025 7:15 PM

I liked her from Boy I've Been Told and followed her for a few albums but her thin voice really struggles to hit notes and that's not an endearing sound, long-term.

by Anonymousreply 30June 3, 2025 12:56 AM

Do flyoverstan gays even know freestyle?

by Anonymousreply 31June 3, 2025 1:33 AM

I like some of her songs, but her voice comes across as whiny/crybabyish.

Her background singers sound better than she does.

by Anonymousreply 32June 3, 2025 5:42 PM

Is she like...Sha-nice?
