What do we think of these two gays? I just discovered this show despite it having more than a few seasons and they some major design misses IMO.

I think the ginger guy spends too much time on the decorative elements he creates. They look cool, but are sometimes of a very specific taste, these are things he should actually sell as a side business because he is really creative. I think they do a great job on the houses, and I just seen a commercial for the new seasion where they're going from Detroit to New Orleans. Might be a good fit for them.

I think they're great. The dark haired guy is so charming, cute and humble. I watched the first New Orleans episode last night. It's great to see the city but it's a completely different beast than what they had going on in Detroit. More $$$$, less profit. It's a typical house flipping show now vs. what it was while in Detroit.

The ginger one looks like a demented leprechaun.🍀

I love them as a couple - both are very cute. I agree with R1 - sometimes the 'theme' of each house is so specific. Do they sell the houses furnished? Because it just seems like a LOT of additional unnecessary work.
I get that he's very artistic, but when you look at all the time and effort involved for a theme that some people may not love, it sort of shoots yourself in the foot, doesn't it?
I love this show because they're not doing it for MASSIVE income flips - they're doing it to help bring back neighborhoods in blight. It's a social service - and they're starter homes, so they're really affordable.
I'd rather watch this than all the other flips where these couples make HUGE amounts on flipping - and it's the most generic shit you've ever seen.

It's a fabulous show. Quirks and errors aside, it's sweet and entertaining. I like both the guys and Shea, too. It's a feel good show.
We binged watched all the episodes when we first found it, now trying to catch up with new episodes. Saw a teaser for New Orleans. Looking forward to that.

I like it. The design too is intended to incorporate sustainable or recyclable materials. I think they come from a certain store that sells used furniture? And the store is affiliated with them? I dunno. I could be making stuff up.

We've been discussing this pair on this thread already.

I'm just now catching Motel Rescue. I do not like a lot of that girl's color choices. She tends towards the conservative and drab IMO.

Great link OP, thanks for your effort.

I think the ginger has horrendous taste

The "weird house" was horrendous.

The little ginger looks like a garden gnome, and he sometimes gets queeny, like a southern belle. The tall one always looks sort of greasy and dirty, and his facial hair barely hides his chipmunk cheeks. The realtor has an annoying voice. I watched the show when they were working in Detroit, but I lost interest.

Keith Bynum is the ginger guy. Evan Thomas is the dark haired guy. Shea is the realtor. (I'm not a total nerd; I Googled.)
I really like the show in Detroit, and I wouldn't turn down any of the houses they've done, perhaps overdone, but still looking great. I'm looking forward to New Orleans.

OP are they starring in The Invisible Man sequel?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 16, 2024 3:16 PM |
A few people on the subreddit said their work was shoddy and not done properly. Not sure if that's true as I find it odd that a realtor would want to risk their rep by partnering with them.

There's no altruism at play. They've pitched a concept and are being compensated for being on television, beyond whatever profits are highlighted on the shows, regardless if it's an actual business. Plus, the boys and Shea will make fortunes touring the home show circuit and endorsing products.
My poor mom thinks Keith and Evan really live in the houses they're working on, and that they do all the work themselves, since they rarely highlight tradesmen.
I do enjoy the show.

AT first, they did live in the houses they were working on until they renovated a house where they really liked results and decided to move into it rather than put it on the market. Then, last season, they built a rather large addition to this home.

R16 - really? No altruism - then why aren't all the other flippers doing this? And these hosts don't get paid as much as you think to be on HGTV - it's a way to promote their company and brand.
Looks like they do an awful lot of work in fucking gross, decrepit houses - and then sell clean, affordable, nice looking starter homes for under $150,000.
They could go after more expensive homes with higher flip potential, but don't. I'd like to know your idea of altruism. Look I know it is good to be cynical, but there are moments of genuine good-for-profit businesses out there.

It's a television production, not a documentary.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 16, 2024 5:48 PM |
R16, in the very beginning they did live in the houses as they worked on them. They later purchased one of the houses they flipped. However, I will add that my son never believed it and calls me naive. They have ppofessionals that assist them now even though they try to minimize showing them.

Do we know why their show was canceled?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 16, 2025 9:32 PM |
Because they were caught doing porn.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 17, 2025 8:13 AM |
Bullshit, R22. Other popular HGTV shows have been canceled as well.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 17, 2025 1:39 PM |
There's a lot of comments about them on the ongoing HGTV discussion thread.

Because it's written on page 2 of our SCRIPT.
