Knew several Opus Dei priests and lay members… What a bunch of weirdos…

One thing we should know by now - if the Catholic Church is accused of doing it - the DID do it and it's 1000x worse than you thought.
Creepy. But this is the type of abuse that always happens with big religion trying to control people. They get drunk with power and can convince regular people to do what they want.

I've only known lay members, and only as friends of family friends, but they are the scariest, most controlling people masquerading as "good." They're all about hard-line Catholicism and condemning people for human behavior.

[R8] I had several try to get me to join, both priests and laity… They claimed it would help my soul… I dropped them as fast as I could… When I told a Bishop friend over dinner, he called them as we were sitting and told them to stop harassing me. The best part was when he threatened to suspend their priestly faculties if they kept it up. A true friend.
