I love to witness the downfall of despicable clowns. Any Tesla owners care to weigh in?
Hollywood is DONE with Tesla because Elon Musk is a terrible person

There was a time when WB were giving all their successful directors and producers Teslas, and this was pre-Zaslav. I wonder if Elon invested heavily into the WB stock to do this launch.

And now that Oracle ogre is in charge of Paramount as well, good luck severing showbiz ties to Tesla.

Too bad. I was excited about their upcoming self-driving taxis. Hopefully another company will do it.

The Chinese have electric vehicles ready to go. There's a need for the product and clean energy. We don't have a need for a termite queen

If only Hollywood was as strict towards it's pedophiles and sexual predators as towards political opponents.

they're just now figuring this out? Better late than never.

r3 They are, Alphabet's Waymo is much, much further along in this regard and they keep expanding to new cities.

I believe Tesla was the most popular car in CA for a few years - but fewer of them are around and I'll be honest, I wince whenever I see one.
The Tesla Truck owners - oh man - every one seems to be hyper aware of the stares they get and they seem to be filled with regret.

Unfortunately, any president who allows those to flood the country is political dead meat. All thanks to US carmakers dragging their feet on EVs for so long. Same as in Europe.

There's still a million Tesla's in LA. The diner is coming online soon. End of 2024. 7001 W. Santa Monica Boulevard, Hollywood

Teslas are the official vehicles of assholes
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 22, 2024 8:21 PM |
Following a Trump election loss I think Musk will be forced to sell Tesla. He has damaged the brand so much.

Perhaps folks are uncomfortable owning something Leon can disable remotely, on a whim. It would be like being ok with allowing the crazy ex you dumped, having the keys to your house.

Because they're narcissistic sheep who publicly park their virtue for all to see.

I also haven’t done anything about evolving the product line. Aside from the world‘s ugliest truck, they seem to be sticking with the egg design.
Most of the people who bought them are early doctor types who don’t wanna have a dated design.

My sister Ubers and Lyfts everywhere, 2 or more times a day. It's crazy how many drivers come to pick her up in Tesla cars and those galactically hideous trucks. And we're in the Deep South.
She says the drivers are nice but seem pathetic. 2-3 years ago they all were hella cocky.
I love this for them.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 22, 2024 9:11 PM |
r18 most of the cars will be (expensive) rentals. I'd be glum, too. And Ubering in a Cybertruck is just idiotic.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 22, 2024 9:59 PM |
And America is done with Hollywood. Seems like everyone is done with everyone these days.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 22, 2024 10:04 PM |
Agreed, R19.
And I'll admit to knowing little about e-vechicles, but I wonder about Tesla's warranties--is high-mileage a thing for them, or do they not have the wear and tear of combustion engine vehicles? Ubering/Lyfting/DoorDashing is a ton of stop-and-go mileage.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 22, 2024 10:08 PM |
They're pretty awful cars.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 22, 2024 10:18 PM |
There's a Tesla showroom and service center yet to open at the old Kmart/Big Lots shopping center in North Hollywood. I sometimes wonder if it's too little too late, but then I figure that the many Armenians who live around there will continue to support the brand.

The article doesn’t really say anything about Hollywood and Tesla, just rumor and speculation. No one powerful or notable quotes on the record.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 22, 2024 10:24 PM |
r21 so far the answer appears to be yes. Lots of high mileage Teslas and Bolts on the roads. Battery degradation on EVs looks to be less than originally predicted and it's more likely the car will far apart long before the battery loses usefulness. Also, in a start-stop-start situation, an EV is a better choice than a gas car. It's why a large percentage of the new Post Office vehicles will be electric. It's really the perfect use case.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 22, 2024 10:59 PM |
So no mail delivery when it gets below zero? Because electric vehicles don’t start or run well in the cold.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 22, 2024 11:09 PM |
What? EVs are less efficient in cold weather, but they start up fine. Better than a diesel. And in really cold weather they'll probably be plugged into heaters. But the batteries and range are big enough and the daily mileage low enough that it will not be an issue.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 22, 2024 11:14 PM |
Really, R26?
Why not? Seems e-vehicle developers would've tried harder to overcome one of the big issues with combustion engines from the Model-T onward--starting in very cold weather.

r18 Personally I prefer cocky drivers who drive a stick shift

The majority of EV brands selling in Australia are already Chinese. Teslas are for rich wankers and the major brands here (mostly Japanese and Sth Korean) can't keep pace with demand.

Australia doesn't have any native auto industry to worry about.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 23, 2024 3:45 AM |
Not everyone has a garage or outside plugs to keep an EV plugged in when it’s cold.
