The ballot is secret, but polling places are in neighborhoods which have reputations for leaning liberal or conservative. I live in a liberal neighborhood of mostly liberal Sacramento, but step toe outside the city to the suburbs and and travel north to more rural parts of the state and it's enormous pickups, coal rollers, and wall to wall MAGAts. They come to work in the city or they drive down for anti-Newsom demonstrations at the capital.
