The Second Stain
Jeremy Brett was an outstanding actor. Gone too soon.

BUMP!
I've been rewatching all of the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes shows. He was perfect in face, voice, ability and personality. I also love how he and the second Watson were best friends in real life.
I wouldn't wish Brett's bipolar on anyone. He was very brave.

Thanks R3 - I didnt know he was gay - and he was beautiful when he was younger. Still not bad when he was doing the Sherlock Holmes series

He is the best Holmes. I am thankful that there is a Sherlock Holmes channel to rewatch his episodes. Basil Rathbone comes in second.

I saw him on stage in London as Sherlock Holmes. He played him as a drug addict. There weren't many people in the audience. I got him to sign an autograph at the stage door. I asked him if he could write "To Vickie" on it, because it was for my friend and he rolled his eyes, but did it.

These are excellent. I’m glad they’re so available now and the ones on BritBox have been restored. I think Brett is the definitive Sherlock Holmes.
The Speckled Band is a favorite locked room mystery of mine.

Stephen Fry has some nice memories of Brett.

r8, you've reminded me of, "The Seven Percent Solution", where Holmes was a cocaine addict. I don't remember who played Holmes though.
