Pamela Anderson's performance in "The Last Showgirl" is getting Oscar buzz !

Move your tits and ass over, JLo - Pamela Anderson is in town at the TFF and her performance in 'The Last Showgirl' is getting Oscar buzz, too. And it co-stars the Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis :

"The Toronto International Film Festival upped the razzle dazzle factor on the second day of its 49th edition with the world premiere of “The Last Showgirl,” a Vegas-set drama that sees star Pamela Anderson enter the awards-season conversation for the first time in her iconic career.

The film, directed by Gia Coppola (“Palo Alto”), follows a 30-year veteran dancer, who toils in sequin in the last remaining traditional floor show in the gambling mecca known as Sin City. Dave Bautista plays the show’s stage manager, who must deliver the news to the dancers that their act will close permanently in two weeks. “Mad Men” star Kiernan Shipka and Brenda Song are the next-gen dancers who perform alongside Anderson, while Billie Lourd portrays her estranged daughter. Recent Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, with a perma-tan and frosted lipstick, brings the comic relief as a Vegas cocktail waitress who must endure degrading customers as she continues to hustle for tips in a casino."

Curtis, who plays a cocktail waitress and Shelley's best friend in the movie, said working with Anderson was the main attraction for her.

“I did the movie because she was going to be in the movie,” Curtis told Reuters on the red carpet.

Curtis, who won an Academy Award in 2023 for her work in "Everything Everywhere All at Once," said she had a scheduling conflict but was able to accept the role because the producers agreed to shoot all of her scenes in the first four days of the filming.

As for Anderson, she made a brief appearance on the red carpet on Friday, barely stopping for interviews.

“I love the way that she is walking through the BS of show business and saying, 'I don't need to play your game.' I respect her for it so deeply,” Curtis said.

In a bizarre turn of events for anyone who just transported here from the year 1993, Donald Trump is running for reelection as President, and Pamela Anderson and Demi Moore are getting Oscar buzz for their latest films.

by Anonymousreply 3September 7, 2024 1:44 PM

haha nepo

by Anonymousreply 4September 7, 2024 1:44 PM

Pam is no nepo baby and I think Curtis has more than proved herself to be way more than a nepo baby.

by Anonymousreply 5September 7, 2024 1:55 PM

R5 I only mentioned Billie Lourd and Curtis.

by Anonymousreply 6September 7, 2024 2:05 PM

R5 I agree.

I think if there's a slot open for 'Best Actress' - Anderson will get it over JLo. I think the media is as tired of JLo as we are this year. She's been shoved down our throats every few months - flop after flop after flop. Anderson has been quietly working her way back to stardom the past couple of years after taking a hiatus.

by Anonymousreply 7September 7, 2024 2:08 PM

Cute that you think JLo was ever in consideration for Best Actress.

by Anonymousreply 8September 7, 2024 2:09 PM

R8 Try to keep up on the forum. You're falling far behind the rest of the class...

I've always had a soft spot for Pam. I met a studio makeup artist who said her and Cher were her favorites and Pam was a real sweetheart.

[quote] I met a studio makeup artist who said her and Cher

Oh dear.

by Anonymousreply 11September 7, 2024 2:15 PM

What is wrong with the sentence r11

by Anonymousreply 12September 7, 2024 2:16 PM

I know R11. Pardon me. I'm still swelling coffee, trying to wake up.

by Anonymousreply 13September 7, 2024 2:16 PM

^^^swilling..see?

by Anonymousreply 14September 7, 2024 2:17 PM

Her is still swelling coffee.

by Anonymousreply 15September 7, 2024 2:19 PM

I is R15

by Anonymousreply 16September 7, 2024 2:25 PM

R12, it’s “she and Cher” not “her and Cher.”

by Anonymousreply 17September 7, 2024 2:35 PM

Thank you R17. I can't believe they needed to ask.

"Her and Cher were her favorites" - WTF?

by Anonymousreply 18September 7, 2024 2:54 PM

Oh my god, will the world stop because someone said her instead of she, you prissy cunts?

by Anonymousreply 19September 7, 2024 2:57 PM

I don’t really care about the Oscars anymore, but I really want this to happen.

by Anonymousreply 20September 7, 2024 2:58 PM

[quote]Oh my god, will the world stop because someone said her instead of she, you prissy cunts?

R19 I really don't want to wait and find out. There's enough crazy happenings going on in this upside down world we now live in, and I don't want to see the consequences of using 'her' instead of 'she'.

by Anonymousreply 21September 7, 2024 3:03 PM

Fucking "Oh, dear" pricks on every fucking thread.

Someone's cage got rattled today.

by Anonymousreply 24September 7, 2024 3:42 PM

R20 I agree. It would be nice to see her win, or at least nominated.

by Anonymousreply 25September 7, 2024 3:43 PM

She waited til she's 70 to learn how to act?

by Anonymousreply 26September 7, 2024 3:45 PM

I think JLo’s reputation as a mega cunt may keep her out, by all accounts Pamela Anderson is great to work with.

by Anonymousreply 27September 7, 2024 3:46 PM

Decades ago Pam was a guest on a talk show when another guest gushed over how beautiful she was. Pamela immediately responds, 'I'm wearing pounds of makeup'. It was soooo charming.

by Anonymousreply 28September 7, 2024 3:49 PM

R26 She's 57. I think once she hit middle-age (her 50s), and left her 'crazy youth behind her', she took her acting talent seriously, realizing she needs to support herself and not rely on men (he last brief marriage was to Jon Peters a few years ago). Good for her.

by Anonymousreply 29September 7, 2024 4:07 PM

Look at it this way. The Grammar Queens are saving your asses.

Endure if you pull the “her and…” nonsense in a job interview, cover letter, important meeting, etc., it won’t be good.

by Anonymousreply 30September 7, 2024 4:10 PM

R30 My niece suffered through her mother's grammar policing, which I approved of. At some point my sister apologized for it and my niece said, nah, it's okay. I'm the person in the office everyone comes to for help writing their emails. (One hopes that doesn't just translate to unpaid labor.)

by Anonymousreply 31September 7, 2024 4:21 PM

"Grammar policing" is actually teaching. I appreciate when someone points out when I make a grammatical error here on the forum. Why wouldn't I ? Who can possibly be that thin-skinned that they become so offended ?

by Anonymousreply 32September 7, 2024 4:29 PM

Pammy took on The Broadway and won.

Now Alyssa Milano, 51, has taken the same role of 'Roxie' in 'Chicago' on Broadway as Anderson did. Her run is September 16 - November 10. Who knows where this will lead Milano - maybe Oscar buzz when she's 57, like Anderson ?

by Anonymousreply 34September 7, 2024 4:41 PM

Sorry Pamela, but anyone who gets in the way of GC finally winning her Oscar for The Deliverance needs to move out of the way or get their legs broken. I am sure a Showgirl would understand this.

by Anonymousreply 35September 7, 2024 4:47 PM

I like Pamela Anderson a lot. I think she has always had the stuff, but because of her looks hasn't had the opportunity to show her true skill.

Her feature Barb Wire is an entertaining genre B action movie. I remember being a bit surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Go Pamela!

by Anonymousreply 36September 7, 2024 5:28 PM

I'm hoping this strange looking woman gets an Oscar before Glenn.
