Brisbane, Australia is basically New Orleans, only nicer

Both cities are located along major rivers. Brisbane is situated on the Brisbane River, and New Orleans is on the Mississippi River. This influences their culture and economy, particularly in terms of trade and tourism.

Both cities are known for their vibrant cultural scenes. Brisbane has a lively arts and music scene, while New Orleans is famous for its jazz music, festivals, and unique cuisine.

by Anonymousreply 43September 6, 2024 8:32 PM

Basically every place is nicer than New Orleans

by Anonymousreply 1September 5, 2024 1:57 AM

Brisbane and New Orleans also have a hot and humid climate which makes them pretty much identical.

by Anonymousreply 2September 5, 2024 1:59 AM

Nice one, OP. Here's mine: Orlando and Paris, France are basically the same. Both have large airports and draw tourists from around the world. In Orlando, you can eat a sandwich, and you can do that in Paris as well.

by Anonymousreply 3September 5, 2024 2:00 AM

No one ever talks about how Melbourne and Mogadishu are so similar. Both are vibrant cities located on large bodies of water. And clearly, both cities start with the letter "m." I amaze myself when I think about how alike they are.

by Anonymousreply 4September 5, 2024 2:04 AM

The Brown Snake is not a “major river”, OP.

by Anonymousreply 5September 5, 2024 2:05 AM

OP gets his kicks from starting random threads about Australia and NZ.

Odd.

by Anonymousreply 6September 5, 2024 2:07 AM

Call us when they do voodoo in Brisbane.

by Anonymousreply 7September 5, 2024 2:10 AM

If Trump is elected he's going to ruin the city. Haven't you read the plan?

by Anonymousreply 8September 5, 2024 2:13 AM

They do do voodoo R7.

by Anonymousreply 9September 5, 2024 2:14 AM

CALL THE POLICE! THERE'S A MAN IN THE LADIES RESTROOM!

by Anonymousreply 10September 5, 2024 2:17 AM

Is Brisbane situated dangerously below sea level? I don’t want to revisit that tragedy. Do they have box mixes of their cuisine like Zataran’s from Brisbane? If it’s powdered kangaroo 🦘 or koala 🐨 over rice,🍚 I don’t want to know.

by Anonymousreply 11September 5, 2024 2:32 AM

New Orleans ain’t hosting any Olympic Games….

by Anonymousreply 12September 5, 2024 2:34 AM

They'd have to call out the National Guard, from three states, to hold games in New Orleans.

by Anonymousreply 13September 5, 2024 2:36 AM

Koalas are a protected species but kangaroos aren’t, R11, so you’d need to be careful.

Roo appears on many fancy menus. It’s rather gamey but very low in fat. Popular on burgers. Available in most supermarkets.

[quote]Brisbane, Australia is basically New Orleans, only nicer

Spoken like the usual Australian or a typical non-Louisiana American.

by Anonymousreply 15September 5, 2024 2:46 AM

So Brisbane is a better place to visit than to live?

by Anonymousreply 16September 5, 2024 2:48 AM

Tell me your from Louisiana without saying that you’re from Louisiana, R15.

by Anonymousreply 17September 5, 2024 2:54 AM

“You’re” - I’m oh dearing myself.

by Anonymousreply 18September 5, 2024 2:56 AM

Is it really hot and humid in Brisbane? Guess that rules out me going there for the Olympics, I cannot abide such a climate.

by Anonymousreply 19September 5, 2024 4:33 AM

—I'm fucking retarded

Did most of you miss the sign-off?

by Anonymousreply 20September 5, 2024 10:54 AM

OP sounds like he fell down and hit his head on the ground.

by Anonymousreply 21September 5, 2024 11:16 AM

r20 It's mostly elderly people posting, here. That print is too small.

by Anonymousreply 22September 5, 2024 11:25 AM

r17/r18 How embarrassing, when you were criticizing another.

by Anonymousreply 23September 5, 2024 11:44 AM

Not all of us are posting from the nursing home R22.

In "Australian", the phrase "I'm fucking retarded" a self-deprecating way to say "I'm an idiot". It can also mean you're drunk or buzzed.

by Anonymousreply 24September 5, 2024 11:47 AM

[quote]Both cities are known for their vibrant cultural scenes.

Hahahaha. Brisbane? It's a backwater, literally.

by Anonymousreply 25September 5, 2024 11:48 AM

r24 Yes, we're aware

by Anonymousreply 26September 5, 2024 11:49 AM

Brisbane is merely warm and not wet compared to NO, NO is hot and miserable.

One thing I learned recently about Australia is that you don't tip the service industry because they're paid a large wage.

by Anonymousreply 28September 5, 2024 8:51 PM

The irony, r24...

by Anonymousreply 29September 6, 2024 10:34 AM

r27 What an interesting website, thank you. I just wish it showed humidity averages as well, that's where my mind went to first.

by Anonymousreply 30September 6, 2024 3:03 PM

I agree - I love Brisbane-themed restaurants with Brisbane-styled music and food. So culturally unique! /s

by Anonymousreply 31September 6, 2024 3:24 PM

The people of Queensland are as mad as a cut snake.

by Anonymousreply 32September 6, 2024 3:26 PM

Kangaroo Burger = Rat Meat

🐀

by Anonymousreply 33September 6, 2024 3:35 PM

r27 I wish that site just told us which American/European city is closest to Brisbane, climate-wise. That would be the easiest way to visualise what kind of climate they have. Population size and average income could be useful as well. Property prices maybe, too.

by Anonymousreply 34September 6, 2024 3:41 PM

My neighbor visited family in New Orleans this summer. She said you walk outside and your clothes instantly feel wet. She also visited family in Brisbane and it took 17 minutes for her clothes to feel wet from the humidity. That's as scientific as I'm getting this morning.

by Anonymousreply 35September 6, 2024 3:50 PM

[quote]She said you walk outside and your clothes instantly feel wet.

Disgusting, just reading that made me cringe. Living in the swamp, breathing hot swamp air, and having swamp ass 24/7, no fucking thank you.

by Anonymousreply 36September 6, 2024 4:15 PM

Are there good oysters like in New Orleans?

by Anonymousreply 37September 6, 2024 4:23 PM

You can purchase chewing gum in NOLA, yes.

by Anonymousreply 38September 6, 2024 4:26 PM

*And in Brisbane, too

by Anonymousreply 39September 6, 2024 4:26 PM

Brisbane seems more like a generic Canadian city transported into the southern hemisphere than New Orleans to me. Calgary with palm trees.

by Anonymousreply 40September 6, 2024 4:38 PM

I cannot believe there is a place where collectively Australians are nice.

by Anonymousreply 41September 6, 2024 4:44 PM

Weatherbase.com will give all the info for anywhere, I use the regular site not the mobile, it works better for me.
