Is that where Ryan grew up then?

by Anonymousreply 2September 3, 2024 11:58 PM

What a dump

Deney Terrio remembers that pool table very well. He remembers lying ass up while Merve shoved pool balls in his hole.

The inside of the estate cannot compete with the beautiful surrounding views.

by Anonymousreply 5September 4, 2024 12:04 AM

I didn't know Merv was into horses.

by Anonymousreply 6September 4, 2024 12:05 AM

He was into horse hung.

What a lovely creek.

The exterior looks like a funeral home on steroids, and the interior gives "healthcare design" vibes. No thanks.

[quote]La Quinta (part of Palm Springs.)

No, it's not.

Obviously meaning the general area and not the city.🥱

I remember in 1976, he had Olivia Newton-John on his show - she was promoting her new album "Making A Good Thing Better", which was coming out in a matter of weeks. She lip-synced to 'Don't Cry for Me, Argentina' on his show - as this was slated to be the first single off the album at the time of the album's release (MCA later decided to release the title track as the first single, to ONJ's objection). When she was done, he told her it was the most beautiful song he ever heard.

Griffin somehow had an advanced / promo copy of the single 'DCFMA', and told ONJ he cried after playing it the first time. ONJ was really touched by what he said. He then told her that since he was given the single a few weeks prior, he 'blasted' it on his stereo with the speakers facing his yard on his ranch, where he rode his horse. While riding, the record would play over and over again. That's how much he loved the single.

She then asked about his ranch and horses, and the conversation went to that - apparently he owned quite a few horses, and would take them riding in the back of his ranch. When they came back from commercial, he showed photos of the outside of his home and where he did his riding - it was spectacular. He told her he planned on living there forever. You can tell by the expression on ONJ's face how stunned she was from the beauty of the property. He then invited ONJ to come by his home and they could ride together on his ranch and she was flattered ( a couple of years later, when she returned to his show promoting 'Grease' she mentioned in the interview she used to go horseback riding with him on his ranch - so I guess she took him up on his offer) .

To this day, every time I play her song, I think of that interview and remember his home. I've often wondered if he did keep that ranch - apparently, he sold it in the 80s. It doesn't surprise me that he bought something with a view just as spectacular. As for the 70s ranch - I wonder what it looks like today, if it's still standing.

The lake looks like a mistake. It's not really nice and is surrounded by dried-up brush.

The house is unremarkable.

Yo! I designed the hot oil boxing ring.

“It smells like poppers and ass in here!”

by Anonymousreply 21September 4, 2024 8:07 AM

The furnishings are atrocious.

Is there a plaque in the room where he took Gaycrest's virginity?

LOTS of 1980s interior architectural elements, e.g the tray ceilings unadorned with crown moulding.

Where's the caftan closet???
