R13 aside from the comical name and genius marketing - the last Wawa I was in had a jumbo-tron menu showing commercials for its subs while impatient customers waited for one greasy employee to prepare an almost inedible sandwich. No thx
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 1, 2024 1:48 AM |
I’d rather be dipped in honey and then tied down to an ant hill as to eat another sub from Wawa!

R1, this is a thread about convenience stores, not your bedroom.

These stores done really exist-pics are photoshopped.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 1, 2024 4:11 AM |
Have never been to a Wawa. Grew up near where Sheetz started and when I first discovered them about 15ish years ago was surprised at how decent some of their food was. Obviously not earning a Michelin star but pretty decent stuff for the price.
I mean, it's a convenience store, I can't exactly get all pumped about that. But they seem to be well run, clean and have decent basic food at hours when other places are closed. It does the job sufficiently.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 1, 2024 4:14 AM |
Isn't Wawa the place Jason Kelce and his wife do the commercials for? They have subs named after them.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 1, 2024 4:27 AM |
Wawa sounds like what that bitch Neely O Hara repeated over and over in that damn Miracle Worker!
Miracle was a bitch that homely became a star!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 1, 2024 4:31 AM |
They are currently building a Wawa in my town so I haven't tried it but Sheetz does Tater Tots. Try topping that Wawa.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 1, 2024 4:34 AM |
You can't beat Wawa. Ours is new, clean, orderly. The food is good and I'm pretty picky about food quality. I cook and eat carefully but if I have to grab something fast I'll go to Wawa.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 1, 2024 4:45 AM |
You know I was fully on team Wawa for years, but I really think their quality has declined. They’re trying to do way too much - like, is anyone really going to Wawa for a burger or pizza? The stuff they used to do well - hoagies and deli sandwiches - really aren’t that great anymore. And I’ve kind of lost my taste for their coffee, it tastes super weak.
Here in South Jersey we have a chain called Heritages. One of my co-workers would always insist they are better, so I finally decided to check them out. It was like walking back into the 80s - the store definitely hadn’t been updated. However, the food was great. Someone took my order from the counter. They actually sliced the meat fresh for my sandwich. And the coffee is flavorful.
So I’m pretty much done with Wawa.

gas station food? no.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 1, 2024 11:42 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 1, 2024 2:01 PM |
That wasn't a good idea when you were driving in to get some gas for your Ford Pinto.
We're now discussing places with rows of EV charging stations, so once again, time has passed DL by while they were at home making their own ketchup

I haven't been in a convenience store in decades, not even to buy gas at the pump. The prices of merchandise in those stores is outrageous, and I have absolutely no interest in any of their food offerings.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 1, 2024 2:58 PM |
How would you even know the price or good quality after being away for do many decades?
Their net profit and reviews would indicate that you are mistaken.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 1, 2024 3:23 PM |
I hear all the stories of the prices charged for things in these stores from people I know who are willing to throw their money away in them.

I have never seen a wawa, been to a wawa or had anyone go ta a wawa.
I thought it was urban slang for Walmart, but I googled wawa, and it is a chain of Wawa Convenience Stores.
Sheetz is the same. Just dumbassed names for dumbassed mini-markets.

R49 = Lizsha
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 1, 2024 5:14 PM |
R39, Wawa started adding gas at its newer locations with the past decade or two. Wawa began as a dairy farm in Wawa, Pennsylvania (named for Canadian geese, I believe).
Initially, in the 1960s (I think) the dairy opened small stores selling milk and the like. Sliced lunch meats, loose rolls, Tastykakes, and other food items were sold in the stores. Eventually hoagies and other freshly made food items were added.
Wawa was, to my knowledge, one of the first places to use ordering kiosks, making customers’ wait time appreciably shorter and in-store experience seamless compared to other shops. (I remember Genuardi’s supermarkets using a similar system for in-store deli lines — why aren’t all supermarkets and delis using this system?)

"If you like Fried Chicken stop by Royal Farms."
If you like fried chicken, do yourself a favor and go someplace else for decent chicken. It's a pale imitation of KFC, and not nearly as good as Popeye's.
Plus it smells greasy inside every Royal Farms.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 1, 2024 8:07 PM |
I haven't been to a Wawa in 30 years, but back then I thought it was definitely a step up from 7-11 or Circle-K. For whatever that's worth.

R50 wawa wars is a thing. It’s been reported on CBS news. Jason Kelse has even chimed in his support for Wawa. Sheetz is the enemy of Wawa. Big Pennsylvania turf wars.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 2, 2024 12:25 AM |
R61 a lot of people think shopping at Wawa is some kind of religious experience. It’s not. Wawa is pure excrement. They have 1 pimple assed worker literally catering events and a big ass load of sandwich orders with a legion of hungry ass customers waiting for their order numbers to be announced over a speaker
by Anonymous | reply 67 | September 2, 2024 12:28 AM |

Quik Trip (QT)- Missouri (Kansas City & St Louis) mostly. Their stores are great as long as you don’t shop/gas in dystopian areas.

by Anonymous | reply 78 | September 2, 2024 6:05 PM |
Love's is kinda trashy. I will only stop at Royal Farms, Wawa, or Sheetz. I'll stop at a 7/11, but only if it's in a nice part of town and it doesn't look like you're getting murdered. Have you ever noticed that all 7/11s smell the same?
by Anonymous | reply 79 | September 2, 2024 6:38 PM |
The 11 smell is more offensive than the 7 smell, so it would depend on the store.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | September 2, 2024 7:06 PM |
If you're a truck driver, a stop at Loves would be an oasis. But they only have the food they put out. No special orders allowed.

I have some friends whose teenage son was hired by Wawa. The store was located near a major interstate in the far western suburbs of Philly.
When he got home, friends asked kid how his first day of work went. He told them his first task was to put on a hazmat suit and clean up the parking lot, particularly the used syringes and condoms.
Kid's father called and told them son would not be going back to work there.
