He was a former student of Walz’s who was pulled out of a snowbank by Walz—(a very Minnesotan thing to do). . He then said that Walz and his wife Gwen tried to do something about obtaining free breakfasts and lunches for the students. According to Ben, Gwen and Tim took on additional responsibilities so that they could fund the free breakfast and lunch programs. Walz then coached, inter alia, his track team. Ingman then said that the track team also won some kind of a championship (along with the football team.) Then he invited the football team out onto the stage. It was really a very cute moment. All these former football players were there to celebrate the coach being nominated as VP.
