Calling All Americans who are Sick of "Globalist, Neoliberal, Non-traditonal" Lifestyle: Come to Russia!
Are *you* sick and tired of the globalist, neoliberal, and frankly non-Christian way America has been trending? Do *you* yern to be someplace, surrounded by like minded people with traditional values? Well, Alex Jones has a deal for *you*!
"🚨BREAKING: PUTIN JUST DROPPED A BOMBSHELL DECREE—INVITING PEOPLE FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE WHO ARE FED UP WITH THE GLOBALIST, NEOLIBERAL NIGHTMARE TO SEEK SANCTUARY IN TRADITIONAL RUSSIA!
This new decree blows the lid off the establishment's agenda, letting freedom-loving folks bypass the usual bureaucratic nonsense like language tests or history exams. If you're ready to reject the insane policies of your home countries that push these destructive, anti-human, neoliberal agendas, Russia is rolling out the red carpet!
The Russian government is about to compile a list of countries poisoning minds with these twisted ideals, and the Foreign Ministry is gearing up to issue visas to true patriots as soon as September! It's time to stand up for spiritual and moral values!"

Also, Anne Applebaum has done an excellent job writing about the rise of authoritarian regimes in Eastern Europe. Poland was on a similar path as Hungary but they managed to self correct with the most recent elections, and Slovakia's current regime is populist and authoritarian. Didn't Orban coin the term "illiberal democracy" to describe his vision of Hungary? It happens gradually: the independent media and NGOs are defunded and marginalized, the courts and universities get staffed with loyalists to the ruling party. The "othering" campaigns become very loud: anti-LGBT, anti-minorities, anti anything that differs from the norm, those people are painted as tools of Soros (a subtle way to say "Jews"), globalists, neoliberals, etc.

Spoken like a Russian. They don't give a rat's ass, either. And they're just as thin-skinned about criticism.
Hungary has a fascism problem which is getting steadily worse. Even now, encroachments are being made upon LGBT rights. (see link) Eventually Orban will withdraw Hungary from NATO (he's currently trying to renegotiate the terms of Hungary's membership so that he can avoid coming into conflict with Putin). Putin will likely take over Hungary, war will ensue, and it will become a burned out shithole, like Germany in the wake of WWII.

Absolutely. It's pure conservative rhetoric, reinforced by carefully selected and edited conservative propaganda being passed off as "news" (NY Post, Fox, OANN, etc) broadcast to a select cohort of viewers. It's not reality. Some of what you're claiming is typical of selectively subjective takes (the way Fox broadcast a family of Latinos running across a busy thoroughfare with commentary labeling them "vermin"), and a lot of it are problems which Democrats have taken and plan to take positive steps to remedy.

[quote]R99: The point is, the rest of the world isn't as enamored with the US as you think it is
Nowhere have I ever even implied that it was. I and others on this thread pointed out that Hungary has a steadily increasing fascism problem. Attacking the US was an extremely childish response on your part (i.e. Pee Wee Herman's "𝐼 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑟𝑒, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑎𝑚 𝐼?"). The US isn't at issue here.
[quote][R67] is a list of some of the reasons why.
It's cribbed from conservative Republican/Russian propaganda.
[quote]They're not interested in lessons on how to live from Americans. They don't consider the US a model to follow.
This isn't about 'lessons from Americans,' Béla. In the case of human rights violations, like those encroaching on LGBTQ rights, that's too bad. They need to cut it out, or live with the blowback from that, as well as from supporting Putin.
And to think you support that. Clearly you're not gay. What (outside of trolling and being a mouthpiece for fascism) are you even doing here?
[quote]I know it's probably a shock to you, but they just might be happy with their culture and their governments.

Work: Europeans move within the European Union for work. Especially from the south. Germany is a particular magnet. In the EU, youth move from one country to another just as American youth leave their state to work in another state.
Population: Hungary has a larger population now than it did 10 years ago. Meanwhile Italy has a smaller population now than it did 10 years ago. And your point is?

How can anyone possibly reason with someone who considers criticisms of the US i.e. "outrageous 3rd world violent crime rates, tent cities, the homeless, very little social safety net, students with 10 of thousands in debt to get a fucking education, the shorter life span, the obesity, the war-zone homicide rates, the shootings, the corporate lobbies, the drug pushing Big Pharma, the billionaire political donors" as right-wing talking points.
You're an idiot.
