The OLD MAID of the Duggar family finally gets married!!

Jana Duggar finally had her "dream come true" wedding!

The Counting On alum, 34, who is the eldest Duggar daughter, married Stephen Wissmann, 31, in Prairie Grove, Ark., on Thursday, Aug. 15, in a "classic, elegant" ceremony.

The pair, who got engaged on June 15, exchanged traditional vows at The Grand at Willow Springs in front of 500 guests. Jessa Duggar Seewald served as the bride's maid of honor, while her sister-in-law, Abbie Duggar, and sisters Joy-Anna Forsyth, Johannah Duggar, Jinger Duggar Vuolo and Jordyn Duggar were bridesmaids.

"I think it is one of those things that all girls envision someday," Jana told PEOPLE of her wedding two days before the celebration. "For me, it felt like, 'Okay, it's never coming.' But now it's starting to sink in. Reality is starting to set in. And I'm like, 'Wow, this truly is something that I've dreamed of.' And just to see it coming about is incredible and kind of hard to believe. It's a dream come true."

Jana walked down the aisle to "Holy, Holy, Holy" in an off-the-shoulder ivory satin ball gown with her dad Jim Bob Duggar. "The dress felt classy and a bit like a princess," Jana says.

As for decor at their affair, the couple wanted to keep it simple.

"The venue is already so gorgeous and picturesque that I didn't want to take too much from that," Jana says. "The guys will be in black suits, the girls in champagne-colored dresses, and then just white flowers and greenery."

When planning their mega nuptials, the pair's biggest priority was incorporating their loved ones.

"Coming from two bigger families (Wissmann is one of 13 siblings), we love to be able to get together and celebrate moments like these," says Jana. "And so to have all of them there, it just means a lot."

Following the couple's traditional vows and lighting of the unity candle, they joined their 500 guests at the reception for a dinner prepared by the groom's family of chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls and coleslaw. "Because we're doing an evening wedding, I envisioned this more formal, sit-down dinner," says Jana. "The Wissmann's are incredible cooks. They're going to do a full spread and they've been working on it. I'm like, 'Just do it. I trust y'all. Y'all making amazing food.' "

For dessert, the bride and groom cut into a three-tier cake with lemon raspberry filling, which was served alongside cupcakes. One of Jana's brother-in-laws served as emcee during the post-wedding festivities and hosted interactive games and activities for guests. After heartfelt toasts, the newlyweds shared their first dance before Jana tossed her bouquet into the crowd.

Wissmann, who lives in Nebraska with his parents and siblings, first connected with Jana years ago through their families.

"The Wissmann's would travel and sing. I remember them coming to our home, probably 13 or so years ago and they ended up getting snowed-in here, which hardly ever happens in Arkansas," recalls Jana.

"I remember just playing games late into the night, doing puzzles together until the snow melted off, and they were able to travel back home. I don't really remember Stephen that well because I'm older than him and so he was not at all on my radar."

A few years ago they crossed paths again and dated briefly before going their separate ways. Despite breaking things off, they remained in touch and "talked to each other on and off over the years." Around the same time, Jana's brother Jeremiah Duggar married Wissmann's sister Hannah.

It wasn't until earlier this year, when Jana and Wissmann reconnected again for a final time. "It was like, 'What are we doing? We still enjoy each other. We still really appreciate each other,' " she recalls.

Jana admits she had her guard up when it came to falling in love, but Wissmann proved he was the one.

"I had been a slower mover on it, but just over time, his character, his coming back, still loving me no matter what," she says. "I know we have a big crazy family and still kind of putting up with a lot of things. I'm like, my goodness, there are not too many people that do that. He must really, genuinely care about me."

She continues: "It takes me a bit to open up, but I think just his continuing to be there, no matter what, through ups and downs. He's been a good friend over the years and has not pressured me in a lot of ways."

Still, she admits watching her younger siblings get married before her hasn't always been easy. Eleven of her total 18 brothers and sisters are already married.

"I'm just like, 'What is it? Is it me? Do I have a problem?' I know I've prayed for this for years and years and definitely been like, 'What's the matter? Why can't I just...' all of my siblings, most of them have been married in their early 20s," she says. "By far, I am the oldest. So it has been disheartening at times."

What kind of name is "Jinger" --- rhymes with ringer, or ginger? It's a cringe-r.

[quote] What kind of name is "Jinger" --- rhymes with ringer, or ginger? It's a cringe-r.

It's supposed to be pronounced like "Ginger."

Since all the kids' names start with a J, they spelled it Jinger instead of Ginger.

But I still call her JING-ER, like ringer.

Oh, and she always pinged for me. I get strong lesbian vibes from her, as well as strong closet case vibes from her husband Jeremy Vuolo.

Of all the kids, she's the most "off the reservation," living in Los Angeles.

The California Jinger at R6 is such a FAR cry from newlywed Jinger and Jeremy from 7 years ago.

They were so sheltered when they first got married.

Now Jinger has gone full on California bitch.

It's shocking that Jana got married.

Just a month ago she was taking viewers on a tour of her Tiny House.

No mention of a fiancee.

Only talk about having her younger siblings over for movie night.

Now, all of a sudden she's married. Looks like the hubby needed a quick beard.

Did she marry her gay best friend?

by Anonymousreply 9August 16, 2024 5:37 AM

Is her name pronounced Yan-a or Jan-a?

by Anonymousreply 10August 16, 2024 6:28 AM

She better get started on that quiverfull before all her eggs dry up.

by Anonymousreply 11August 16, 2024 6:33 AM

Can can someone afford to invite 500 guests to a wedding. There are a lot of daughters in that family.

by Anonymousreply 12August 16, 2024 7:32 AM

Only 500 guests? So the groom didn't get to invite anyone?

by Anonymousreply 13August 16, 2024 7:45 AM

During the ceremony the priest said “You may now seed the bride!” and she was knocked up then and there for baby #1.

by Anonymousreply 14August 16, 2024 7:46 AM

Now why would someone name biological sisters Joy-Anna and Johannah? They're the same fucking name.

by Anonymousreply 15August 16, 2024 12:52 PM

R15 - there’s only so many J names available when you have 58 kids.

by Anonymousreply 16August 16, 2024 12:58 PM

No thank you.

I'd rather just hold her hand and side hug.

So a church picnic? Yikes. Guess they're lucky it's wasn't tater tot casserole.

by Anonymousreply 19August 16, 2024 1:32 PM

That beard smells like boy taint!

There's no way these two are having kids.

She's 34 and her womb is dry and filled with cobwebs.

Her eggs are shriveled up and dusty.

And her husband is a cock sucker.

She's lucky to have found a husband at all.

Thankfully, she has lots of nieces and nephews upon which to shower her affection.

The scuttlebutt is they've actually been living together this past year. As if that wasn't scandalous enough, the (now) husband, is a DIVOR- CEE, who already has a kid.

LOL, at the Duggar publicity team who so delicately wrapped it in a nice bow and presented it to the public.

by Anonymousreply 22August 16, 2024 3:30 PM

[quote]Jana's brother Jeremiah Duggar married Wissmann's sister Hannah.

Aw, that's nice. It adds a certain hillbilly je ne sais quoi.

by Anonymousreply 23August 16, 2024 3:34 PM

I’m surprised anyone still cares. Does People have a large Mormon readership?

by Anonymousreply 24August 16, 2024 3:54 PM

Jill is the one who is truly off the Rez. I don’t think she speaks to her parents anymore.

by Anonymousreply 25August 16, 2024 3:59 PM

The Duggars are Fundamentalist Baptists, R24.

by Anonymousreply 26August 16, 2024 4:03 PM

She did well - he's handsome!

by Anonymousreply 27August 16, 2024 4:08 PM

I have to admit I'm surprised they still have tv shows after the kiddie diddler was exposed. I think a couple of the girls have strained relations with the parents according to the Shiny, Happy People documentary.

by Anonymousreply 28August 16, 2024 4:46 PM

R25, they're not Mormon. They are a weird offshoot of protestantism called the Quiverful movement though both religions are rife with sexual and domestic abuse.

by Anonymousreply 29August 16, 2024 4:59 PM

Poor Jana looks like her father.

He's nice-looking and I don't see a "smelling cookies" face on him.

by Anonymousreply 31August 16, 2024 8:15 PM

Given the scandals surrounding the Duggars, it's really pathetic that People is still promoting them.

by Anonymousreply 32August 16, 2024 8:28 PM

People has gone down the shitter. Not that it was ever the gold standard of anything.

What makes me think less of People mag is how they heavily Photoshop all the celebrity photos.

For some reason, Wendy Williams put a lot of stock in the veracity of what People was reporting.

by Anonymousreply 33August 16, 2024 8:31 PM

"Wissmann, who lives in Nebraska with his parents and siblings..."

I knew he was unemployed.

by Anonymousreply 34August 16, 2024 9:15 PM

What?! When did she not be a lez anymore?

by Anonymousreply 35August 16, 2024 9:16 PM

My bad, I have never watched their reality show. I just knew that they were trash. Apologies to Mormons.

by Anonymousreply 36August 16, 2024 10:43 PM

Engaged on June 15th and married already? One of her old eggs managed to get fertilized.

by Anonymousreply 37August 16, 2024 10:51 PM

I'm available as a surrogate, if necessary.

by Anonymousreply 38August 16, 2024 10:58 PM

I don’t think so, R7.

Were he gay, that lovely house of theirs would have been decorated & furnished well.

by Anonymousreply 39August 16, 2024 11:06 PM

Oops! R39 was meant for R6, not R7.

by Anonymousreply 40August 16, 2024 11:10 PM

[quote] Were he gay, that lovely house of theirs would have been decorated & furnished well.

I heard that they're house flippers, which is why it isn't furnished.

Supposedly they bought and sold three or four times, in under two years.
