Walz is an exceptionally gifted retail politician.
I'm here in Vegas on vacation and I'm watching the local news right now.
The event is being held at the Thomas and Mack Center on the UNLV campus, and the reporter said that it holds 19.500 people and it was at maximum capacity. People actually had to be turned away!
The event is going on right now, and the cameras were inside.
It looks electric!

Kamala is so gifted, she makes that pukey lavender suit she has on look fabulous! That would look terrible on nearly anyone else. It's like she can carry nearly every color or palette.

Kamala just said, (paraphrasing) "I know we're ahead in the polls, but we can't rely on that". Smart lady. She's a great orator. Hope Indeed.

I am in awe in how the political landscape has changed in less than a month. I've always liked Kamala and am so happy that she looks so much more natural this go-around. She and Tim Walz look like they genuinely like each other and are having fun with this. This country deserves this team!

And Tim always projects so much positive energy, like a big goofy suburban dad but who can knock a bad guy cold, if needed. It was a very smart decision to pick him.

On the one hand, it would be hard for Kamala not to have some swagger in her step seeing how quickly the party lit the fuck the instant she was named new presumptive nominee! I mean, it was such a breathless, instantaneous, enthused pivot, she would have hardly had five seconds free to doubt herself.
On the other hand, someone less polished, less smart, less poised, less motivated, less invested...less worried...might have fumbled the pass, dissipating all that juicy good will as quickly as it appeared (Hillary). But Kamala hasn't fumbled shit. Odds are she won't, and we shall all be dabbing at the end zone in T minus 86 days.

LoL, r6, when did Hillary *ever* get good will?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 11, 2024 2:16 AM |
Harris is very smart. That she is is revealed in what she doesn't do- she doesn't let the media dictate terms of interaction.
She's says just enough, and if they don't like it, they can lump it.

I literally tear up when I hear Kamala and Tim speak. I know - Mary!
Thanks for posting the link, OP!

I remember starting a new job in 1993 and I was shocked listening to the men there talking about how much they hated Hillary. Over the years she was constantly vilified, particularly by straight men.

We know how Vlad feels about her.

(Not so) random question about OP’s video of the rally…
I noticed the next song after OutKast was Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5. The Harris campaign needs Dolly’s permission to use her music, no? Does this represent Dolly’s endorsement of Kamala Harris? And, if it does, does her endorsement carry much weight in the South, in purple states?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 11, 2024 2:36 AM |
"Gun violence" laws instead of "gun control" laws. Brilliant phrasing I can't believe no one thought of this earlier.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 11, 2024 2:40 AM |
Elizabeth Warren featured "9 to 5" more prominently (as her entrance music in 2019), and without authorization, but Parton took no action other than a manager's statement saying “We did not approve the request, and we do not approve requests like this of (a) political nature."

Agreed r13. It's all in the slight change of phrasing, of emphasis. Harris's campaign has also pivoted slightly away from the emphasis the Biden had on "saving democracy" - it's still there, in the background, but they've decided to discuss "Freedom values" instead, stressing their positive support of these rather than casting themselves as doing battle with an craven undemocratic opponent. More palatable to a general swath of voters.

I have only seen clips of them so far and then watched them on full here. I'm shocked at how good they are and have fully met the moment. It's like having 2 Obamas.

I'm voting for joy.

FREEDOM
Tryna rain, tryna rain on the thunder
Tell the storm I'm new
I'm a wall, come and march on the regular
Painting white flags blue
Lord forgive me, I've been running
Running blind in truth
I'ma rain, I'ma rain on this bitter love
Tell the sweet I'm new
I'm telling these tears, go and fall away, fall away
May the last one burn into flames
Freedom, freedom
I can't move
Freedom, cut me loose
Singin', freedom, freedom
Where are you?
'Cause I need freedom, too
I break chains all by myself
Won't let my freedom rot in hell
Hey! I'ma keep running
'Cause a winner don't quit on themselves

Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus shades JD Vance for his "childless cat ladies comments" and makes a couch joke. LOL!

The event arena was at capacity.
Nearly 20,000 people! And thousands had to be turned away because of the 110 degree heat.
