The Last of the Southern Girls. She was everywhere in the '70s.
[quote]In 1977 Howar was interviewing the singer Anita Bryant on CBS about Ms. Bryant’s campaign against homosexuality. At one point Ms. Howar asked, “Where is your human sense of decency and fairness to people who are different from you?”

Yet Anita Bryant is still alive. That nasty coldhearted homophobic bitch shouldn't have been revived at birth.

I only remember her from Entertainment Tonight.

I remember her name, I recognize her face, but I don’t connect her with anything mentioned in that article.

She said - "we can't reproduce by giving birth, we reproduce by recruiting 'their' children to become gay" or something to that effect. The woman is blind to anything she can't understand or comprehend. It's sad that there are people that still believe that. I don't recall ever being recruited by anyone and I doubt there is anyone on this forum that was recruited. And, by chance if you were, give us the 411 on what when down.

Forgot to mention Barbara Howar - she was a pistol back in the day. She must have had helium injections in her scalp to get the hair to stand that high. They had BIG hair back then but not that BIG!

I never understood her association with the Kentucky Derby.

Watching Barbara interview Liza in the latest biopic...
Barbara's passing got only 10 posts on DL........ the ultimate insult

She needed a D at the end of her name.

I always thought it was bizarre she was the ground reporter on major horse races.

So relieved Bryant is finally dead. It helps.

R14 OP just heard about it, apparently.

I don't remember Barbara but I certainly remember her sister. From the NYT obit.
[quote]Ms. Howar is survived by ... a sister, Charlsie Cantey, a sports broadcaster and thoroughbred horse racing analyst

Huh?! I created this thread on Aug. 5, 2024.

thanks OP / Did she alienate everybody she ever worked with ?
It seems like she had a lot of gigs, and then nothing.
She and Pamela Averell Harriman sound like they were cut from the same cloth.
