Pete is now TOP OF THE LIST! Suck it haters.
Most Dems in new survey approve of Buttigieg, Kelly on Harris VP shortlist

It’s Josh Shapiro, you deranged stalker.
You belong in an asylum.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 3, 2024 12:53 AM |
What got R1's panties in a wad? Relax, take your meds, it will be ok.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 3, 2024 12:55 AM |
Shapiro is a 1000 easy attack ads from the GOP. The sexual harassment aid. The suicide/murder case he fucked up as AG. His issues with unions. Anyone but him.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 3, 2024 12:56 AM |
Shapiro would be political suicide. If Kamala needs to show she's pro Jewish, all she has to do is point to her husband. End of story.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 3, 2024 12:58 AM |
Pete is not qualified. What on earth makes anyone think he is?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 3, 2024 1:02 AM |
The black aunties would sooner stay home than vote for a ticket that includes a skinny white gay boy.
If she selects a Jew, young myopic Muslims and the purple-haired they/thems will cancel her faster than Jimmy the Greek.

It needs to be Walz

Doubt it. They will be back in college, starting a new semester and another shiny quarter will catch their eyes. May 2024 is ancient history to them.

WRONG. They are very pragmatic, Pete is not running for President, Kamala is. They want Kamala to win at all costs, they will tolerate Pete being VP as long as Kamala is President.
Pete is not qualified. What on earth makes anyone think he is?
You say that like you didnt notice Trump got elected not as VP but as President! Those old school relic ideals you have Graps are long gone. Pete is qualified, so you need to just get over that.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 3, 2024 1:15 AM |
OP, I know you're obsessed with Pete, but he's not getting it, and your subject line explains the reason. They don't need to convince *Democratic* voters, nearly all of whom will be voting for Harris regardless. They need to convince *undecided* voters.
R3, I think you're confusing Shapiro with Mark Kelly – he's the one who's not a union fan, which fits given that the Southwest has never embraced them. Shapiro OTOH wants to *expand* unionizing.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 3, 2024 1:17 AM |
I'd love it to be Pete but would be surprised if it was him. Harris/Buttigieg would be an amazing duo.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 3, 2024 1:24 AM |
No R12, you are not getting it. The notion of a VP bringing a state is false babble everyone in the media is reciting like fact. But factually speaking, it does not matter who the VP is. What matters at the end of the day is who can the President work with for the next 4 years they feel comfortable with, have a rapport with and can had off Presidential duties when needed. Kamala is very comfortable with Pete, and he could do the job with grace and professionalism.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 3, 2024 1:28 AM |
R11, I agree that Trump was unqualified; did we learn nothing from that? Tell me about Pete’s qualifications to step into the Presidency, if necessary?
Kami is exotic, Big City smartypants. She beeds to balance with a plain-as-dirt Flyover. Tim
Which is why Pete fits that bill, he's from the flyoverstan part of the country, and yes he's white, they like that. The gay thing is irrelevant to them because he presents as straight. He's not a trans anything or yass queen or flamboyant in any way. The only negative I see for flyoverstan is that he is highly educated.

What Democrats think doesn’t matter. It’s only what independents and undecideds think that will make a difference.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 3, 2024 1:34 AM |
Biden likes Shapiro and Walz. I know he's not directly involved in the selection process, but I believe he's a good judge of character. I'm still hoping for Walz since he is less problematic and has good vibes all around.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 3, 2024 1:37 AM |
Actually you are wrong, what Democrats think is what drives the party platform. Independents can either decide to take it or not. You are just being silly now if you think the Democratic party should pander to independents to define what the Democratic party values are.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 3, 2024 1:37 AM |
Oy. I heard a new one, in Canada yet. Old Anglo type in line at the Pharmacy, calling Pete "BUTTGAG" during his conversation with another person in line.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 3, 2024 1:37 AM |
Biden likes safe pics, thats NOT what the Democratic party wants now, they want new blood, young people as in under 60 years old to take control and have some balls. You know like actually adding judges to the Supreme Court which Biden said flat out he would not consider.

by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 3, 2024 1:41 AM |
Underestimate at your own peril the widespread homophobia that is still prevalent in this country, even among “good” people. Just because a lefty old auntie watches Scandal doesn’t mean she’s down with that gay shit.
Believe it or not, “fiscally liberal, socially conservative” is a real thing. Go to any Baptist church in Harlem or any rural coal town in Kentucky for proof.

The fact that it went nowhere would suggest that Canada has not, in fact, turned at all Trumpy.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 3, 2024 2:15 AM |
Hard to believe that a Harris supporter would be so turned off by the prospect of a gay VP that they would stay home or vote Republican, r26.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 3, 2024 2:17 AM |
R26 I’m from New York. No Black woman who votes democratic is going to stay home cause of Pete. Not nay one is going to do that. If anything it might be some independent or fiscally conservative white man.

Black women love Pete, that is definitely not an issue. The KHive has always adored him.
I believe it will be him or Kelly as the VP. The risk of taking any swing state governor out of their seat outweighs the potential reward.

If this election weren't against Trump and having to preserve our democracy; if the Dems didn't need Pennsylvania so desperately, Harris might be able to pick Beshear, Kelly or even Buttigieg, but it's all on the line in 2024. Trump must be defeated. There is no chance for error.
It's the Pennsylvania thing, there is no other choice. Harris must pick Shapiro.
I don't want Shapiro. He's much too pro-Israel. I would prefer Beshear. But it just cannot be this year.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 3, 2024 4:40 AM |
R2 is the DL Shapiro loon. Pay no attention to her, she's going to lose her shit when someone other than Shapiro gets picked as VP. Mainly because he has too much baggage and the Kamala train is traveling light.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 3, 2024 4:52 AM |
^^r37 is the Shapiro loon.

As already been mentioned many times, VP's don't really carry a state, the people vote the same regardless. It's a fallacy to base your predictions on that.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 3, 2024 4:56 AM |
Most of DL don't seem to appreciate just how much Americans have moved beyond the gay litmus test.
Harris does not need Shapiro to carry PA. I'm sure Shapiro can do just a fine and dandy job repping for Kamala despite not being Veep!

R39, Shapiro can go on his [italic] mea culpa [/italic] tour for 2028 where he either apologizes for past stupid comments or learns to keep his mouth shut and not insult tens of millions of prospective Democratic voters.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 3, 2024 5:04 AM |
That's interesting R43, considering I don't even know who Emily Blunt is. or David what?
Take your meds, isn't it time for bed? I hope you are still not driving.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 3, 2024 5:04 AM |
Shapiro would be the JD Vance version of VP drag on the ticket for the Dems. We can all see how that's going for the Republicans. The last thing we needs is some apology tour. Kamala needs someone with a clean record, Shapiro isn't it.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 3, 2024 5:06 AM |
R46, Shapiro is not it unless the goal is to alienate the youngest, most fickle voters.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 3, 2024 5:21 AM |
We must finally put this "Harris needs Shapiro to win PA" to rest once and for all.
Biden/Harris: Won PA in 2020 Obama/Biden: Won PA in 2008 and 2012 Kerry/Edwards: Won PA in 2004 Gore/Lieberman: Won PA in 2000
Again, the only reason Hillary Clinton lost PA in 2016 (along with Michigan and Wisconsin) was that she didn't campaign there enough, assuming she had it in the bag, which cost her greatly. Harris doesn't need Shapiro to win PA. Harris is already statistically tied with Trump in PA right now, and I'm sure that after her rally in Philly next week and the convention, she will surpass Trump in the polls in Philly.
There are other candidates to choose from as her running mate without much baggage and distraction than Shapiro, who will bring both if he's her VP.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 3, 2024 5:30 AM |
Sorry, I meant to say surpass Trump in the polls in PA (the Philly rally will help, though).
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 3, 2024 5:32 AM |
R48, the Shapiro Troll is Josh Shapiro's mom! Oy
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 3, 2024 5:34 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 3, 2024 6:12 AM |
Walz or Kelly to avoid distractions.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 3, 2024 6:27 AM |
Kelly is OLD bald man, and has that union problem. Otherwise I am OK with him but not really fitting in with the Kamala theme of looking to the future.
Seriously if you want to have the appearance of being the future, the VP has to be much younger than her. That only leave 2 people. "balancing out the ticket" is not going to work here if your them is the future. It's really out of date campaign strategy.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 3, 2024 12:28 PM |
Tim Walz is great and he won't offend anyone by virtue of his religion or orientation. Anyone who stays home because Walz has gray hair would have done so anyway.
Pete can run for Senate or Governor and work his way up. Josh can run for Senate..
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 3, 2024 3:39 PM |
Walz is 18 years younger than Trump, virtually the same age as Kamala. Anyone who wouldn't vote Dem because of his age wasn't going to vote Dem in the first place.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 3, 2024 3:47 PM |
NOT TRUE, looking old with grey hair matters, the youth vote especially those who just turned 18 may just not bother because to them, it's old white men again. They wont stay home as a protest vote, it's more of a Meh, don't really want to stand in line or fill out a mail in ballot to vote kind of situation. Not motivated.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 3, 2024 8:28 PM |
Go away MAGAt r58, that article has nothing to do with this topic. We are talking about VPs here not Kamala's race.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 3, 2024 8:36 PM |
Walz doesn’t really have any negatives, other than the white hair.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 3, 2024 8:49 PM |
And Nancy Pelosi is pulling for Walz behind the scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 3, 2024 9:04 PM |
I think sitting home and electing Trump will be an excellent object lesson for young people when they lose more rights and their standard of living declines. Forget student loans and loan relief. Hell, forget disaster relief from climate change if you're not in a red state. Go to your graves, which will be sooner rather than later, declaring you were right not to vote for an old white man/.
