by Anonymousreply 84August 2, 2024 10:45 PM

Who asked for this?

by Anonymousreply 1July 31, 2024 7:57 PM

Boogita boogita boogita Ah Ah Ah.

by Anonymousreply 2July 31, 2024 7:58 PM

Development hell coming soon.

by Anonymousreply 3July 31, 2024 8:01 PM

So, a remake of The Big Chill?

by Anonymousreply 4July 31, 2024 8:04 PM

Please don't mess this up

by Anonymousreply 5July 31, 2024 8:06 PM

If this is successful, we can count on the following:

About 14,000 Last Nights Ago

The Early Bird Special Breakfast Club

Sixty-Seven Candles

by Anonymousreply 6July 31, 2024 8:13 PM

I'd still let Rob sit on my face 😈

by Anonymousreply 7July 31, 2024 8:31 PM

Shit-tastic! So they’re all in the 60s and live in Chevy chase

by Anonymousreply 8July 31, 2024 8:36 PM

It’ll never make it past development

by Anonymousreply 9July 31, 2024 8:42 PM

Of course it will!

by Anonymousreply 10July 31, 2024 8:43 PM

You know the nostril guy won't agree to it. I forgot his name for a moment, that was the placeholder. Judd Nelson.

by Anonymousreply 11July 31, 2024 8:43 PM

I’d rather watch a cow shit a bucketload of flop onto the ground

by Anonymousreply 12July 31, 2024 8:44 PM

The nice thing is anybody who won't return can be dead instead. This is basically The Big Chill, with electric guitars.

by Anonymousreply 13July 31, 2024 8:44 PM

I wonder if they can rope Molly Ringworm into this too.

by Anonymousreply 14July 31, 2024 8:46 PM

At least Demi looks fabulous.

by Anonymousreply 15July 31, 2024 8:49 PM

So does horny Rob

by Anonymousreply 16July 31, 2024 8:50 PM

R15 = Demi Moore

by Anonymousreply 17July 31, 2024 8:55 PM

Sharon Stone would be perfect to play the missing member of the group who left to study in Paris and became an A-list model and actress.

Now a successful head of a Fortune 500 company and billionaire, she returns to rekindle old friendships - along with some romances.

Sharon could convey the sensuality and charisma that had all the men - and women- in their group enthralled and add A-list star power to this sure to be talked about sequel.

by Anonymousreply 18July 31, 2024 9:00 PM

Glenn Close could sing the theme song!

by Anonymousreply 19July 31, 2024 9:01 PM

Why would anyone think of Molly Ringwald for this?

by Anonymousreply 20July 31, 2024 9:04 PM

She can play Mare's lesbian life partner.

by Anonymousreply 21July 31, 2024 9:06 PM

Someone on here is from India

by Anonymousreply 22July 31, 2024 9:08 PM

Sharon is half a decade older than most of the cast, but maybe at this point it doesn't matter.

by Anonymousreply 23July 31, 2024 9:12 PM

What's "boogita?"

by Anonymousreply 24July 31, 2024 9:13 PM

Will Thom Bierdz be making an appearance as "Rowdy Undergrad" now billed as "Crazy Elder Gay" ??

by Anonymousreply 25July 31, 2024 9:13 PM

Is that the stupid phrase all the boys said together?

by Anonymousreply 26July 31, 2024 9:14 PM

St. Elmo's Fire? more like St. Elmo's Retired.

by Anonymousreply 27July 31, 2024 9:15 PM

If any of them needs advise on getting the project cancelled, they should ask me.

Negotiating separately for a solo film would be a good start

by Anonymousreply 28July 31, 2024 9:16 PM

St Elmo's Walker

by Anonymousreply 29July 31, 2024 9:32 PM

I hope they bring back Andie MacDowell.

by Anonymousreply 30July 31, 2024 9:35 PM

[quote]Sharon is half a decade older than most of the cast, but maybe at this point it doesn't matter.

Have you seen her recently? She looks old enough to be the actual cast members' mother. I was stunned to see how much she'd let herself go after a guest star appearance on a crappy HBO miniseries ("The Flight Attendant").

by Anonymousreply 31July 31, 2024 9:35 PM

Sharon Stone looks a good decade younger than the cast

by Anonymousreply 32July 31, 2024 9:35 PM

Shit now I have to rewatch St Elmo's Fire

Oh wait I never watched it.

Whew, dodged a bullet

by Anonymousreply 33July 31, 2024 9:39 PM

I hope they return to John Paar for the film's power ballad.

by Anonymousreply 34July 31, 2024 10:29 PM

R33, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Didn't watch it the first time, and I'm sure not going to watch it now.

by Anonymousreply 35July 31, 2024 10:29 PM

I can play Rob Lowe's wife.

by Anonymousreply 36July 31, 2024 10:33 PM

R30 = Andie MacDowell, star of Hallmark Channel’s “The Way Home”

by Anonymousreply 37July 31, 2024 10:33 PM

Never sat through the entire thing and hate the music

by Anonymousreply 38July 31, 2024 10:34 PM

[quote] I hope they return to John Paar for the film's power ballad.

So do I!

by Anonymousreply 39July 31, 2024 10:37 PM

I wonder if Judd Nelson's schedule will be free to do this!

by Anonymousreply 40August 1, 2024 12:16 AM

Judd is 64. He retired years ago.

by Anonymousreply 41August 1, 2024 12:19 AM

A fire has burned down Houlihan's and the gang reunite at St. Elmo's which has stayed open all these years with Billy as the owner. He had moved back to Washington from New York after failing to make it as a saxophonist and lives with his wife Andie (Molly Ringwald) whom he met on a gig in Chicago.

by Anonymousreply 42August 1, 2024 6:23 AM

The original is a terrible movie that I love, but I would have NEVER expected a sequel - especially nearly 40 years later. Kevin should be a came-out-late gay, and Anna Marie Horsford MUST make an appearance, as well as Matthew Laurence as Ron Dellasandro.

by Anonymousreply 43August 1, 2024 6:50 AM

[quote]...it is happening and in its early stages!!!

What? Adult onset dementia?

And surely that is as welcomed as this news. Fucking hell. Never was something needed or wanted less.

I hate the contorted, burn graft faced, terrible actor and all around creepy as fuck Rob Lowe and that shittiest of films of a shitty time for films.

by Anonymousreply 44August 1, 2024 7:41 AM

r33 IKR?

by Anonymousreply 45August 1, 2024 8:07 AM

Mare!

by Anonymousreply 46August 1, 2024 8:10 AM

The films opens with Demi Moore, sitting on the floor in a walk in freezer.

by Anonymousreply 47August 1, 2024 5:09 PM

When Rob Lowe says, "We sat down and talked about it" with the studios, what did they talk about exactly?

by Anonymousreply 48August 1, 2024 6:03 PM

For ill-advised, unnecessary reunions, it's best to hold out for a separate one day $1M appearance

by Anonymousreply 49August 1, 2024 6:23 PM

Alec went back to being a democrat. Kirby made it really big and went Fluff 'n Fold. Billy still believes in premarital sax. Leslie threw away the pearls. Credits.

by Anonymousreply 50August 1, 2024 10:12 PM

I was a big fan of St. Elmo’s Fire when it came out. I have no desire to see a sequel.

by Anonymousreply 51August 1, 2024 10:28 PM

I hated St. Elmo's Fire when it came out. Not a single likeable character in the entire movie.

by Anonymousreply 52August 1, 2024 10:33 PM

I saw the original when it came out in the'80s and remember being obsessed with Demi Moore's apartment at the time. I looked up some pics of it and OMG it's horrible.

As a young gayling I should have been appalled.

by Anonymousreply 53August 1, 2024 11:16 PM

Fucking hell, R53

Joyce Van Patten cameo in that trailer.

Special guest appearance by Anna Maria Horsford, as Naomi, the earthy former sex worker who now runs a women’s shelter in Rockville, MD.

by Anonymousreply 60August 2, 2024 12:14 AM

Who should remake the St. Elmo's Fire Song, "Man in Motion" sung so memorably by ....

.... hold on

.... hold on

... googling ... yes! ...John Parr?

I can envision a whole concept remix album

by Anonymousreply 61August 2, 2024 12:36 AM

Netflix has greenlighted worse.

by Anonymousreply 62August 2, 2024 1:18 AM

I remember the characters all seeming so cool to me but don't know why.

by Anonymousreply 63August 2, 2024 1:59 AM

I was 19 when this came out, I was in between the high school movies (Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink) and the after college movies like this. I had such a crush on Rob Lowe in this movie when I watched it back then.

by Anonymousreply 64August 2, 2024 2:05 AM

Rob Lowe’s kid in the first film would be around 40 now.

by Anonymousreply 65August 2, 2024 2:08 AM

“St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion) -Brat Remix,” Charli XCX and John Parr, produced by Doctor Luke

by Anonymousreply 66August 2, 2024 3:39 AM

[quote] The films opens with Demi Moore, sitting on my face.

FIFY

by Anonymousreply 67August 2, 2024 3:41 AM

[quote] Who asked for this?

🤚

by Anonymousreply 68August 2, 2024 3:49 AM

"Rob Lowe’s kid in the first film would be around 40 now."

Ha. I completely forgot about baby Melody. She HAS to make an appearance as Billy's grown child, and maybe Billy's ex-wife Felicia as well. And while we're at it, maybe one of the clearly to vaguely biracial kids of the "just give me my check" welfare chick. We'll assume that chick died.

by Anonymousreply 69August 2, 2024 3:50 AM

In the sequel, Wendy has taken to her now-deceased mother's habit of whispering gossip.

by Anonymousreply 70August 2, 2024 3:51 AM

St Elmo's Fire was the lamest of the group.

I'd much rather see a Breakfast Club sequel or even Pretty in Pink. You really couldn't do Sixteen Candles without Jake.

by Anonymousreply 71August 2, 2024 3:56 AM

Less Than Zero! Blair and Clay are married, but there's rot underneath the pristine visage of wealthy adulthood - moral rot; marriage rot; mental rot.

by Anonymousreply 72August 2, 2024 4:03 AM

It's true that some critic nicknamed this movie "The Little Chill" at the time.

by Anonymousreply 73August 2, 2024 4:18 AM

They get into a rumble at the Villages with the cast of Reality Bites

by Anonymousreply 74August 2, 2024 4:21 AM

John Belushi rises from the dead to mime life lessons for them all.

by Anonymousreply 75August 2, 2024 4:22 AM

Emlios Estevez gets AIDS from having been fucked by Charlie Sheen.

by Anonymousreply 76August 2, 2024 4:25 AM

Demi Moore tries to commit suicide by covering herself with honey and laying out in the garden.

by Anonymousreply 77August 2, 2024 4:26 AM

This time she succeeds

by Anonymousreply 78August 2, 2024 4:26 AM

Wendy had reconnected with Howie and marries him, but still pined for Billy even though she knew he's no good for her. Sex life with Howie was dismal, but NOT because of Howie. Wendy used the the idea of a more interesting life with Billy as a way to not engage with her then-present life, having told herself that she "settled" for Howie and she could have been living a more exciting passionate life. But, at the end of the day, she was just an in-denial lesbian. And in the sequel she's living with her annoying partner.

by Anonymousreply 79August 2, 2024 4:34 AM

Is St. Elmo's fire considered GenX? When I think of GenX, I think of Reality Bites.

by Anonymousreply 80August 2, 2024 4:37 AM

R80, I was born in 1972 - solidly Gen X, no gray area. St. Elmo's Fire came out in 1985 shortly before I turned 13. I was old enough to watch it and understand it. Though, I wasn't an adult, so it didn't resonate with me (to the extent SEF can "resonate" at all). Reality Bites came out in 1994 when I was 21, and I was closer in age to the characters, so sure, it's a better generational fit for me. Though, I had rewatched SEF a couple times as I got older - in my mid/late teens and my early 20s - so I had seen it as a young adult too.

by Anonymousreply 81August 2, 2024 4:44 AM

Gen X spans 1965-1980, so it make sense

by Anonymousreply 82August 2, 2024 4:46 AM

R70 Since Joyce Van Patten is still alive she should play Wendy's mom (not deceased).

by Anonymousreply 83August 2, 2024 11:45 AM

Baby boom (boomer) generation makes sense, since there was a postwar baby boom. I don't understand the demarcations between all these other generations.
